Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
Sandra Hernandez9 said:These photos are stunning—honestly, this is exactly how I envision my own setup looking 👍. Those glass containers with the ribbon lids are also quite lovely for serving things like dry 🎉

I’ve already banned those little finger sandwiches from the menu, though we can include a bit of everything else—with a heavy emphasis on Canadian pastries 😍😍😍
. And yes, I’m personally craving some gourmet donuts, but everyone keeps insisting they aren't "wedding appropriate" 🤷
.

Man, we could probably end up getting into a massive fight over this. Maybe it's better if we just don't. 🤷 If they just slapped on some extra cream, I guess it wouldn't really be the same thing anymore. It just wouldn't hit the spot.

I haven't really chimed in on this thread before, but honestly, seeing how much you guys are dropping on cakes makes me feel a little sick... mine cost about $27/lb 🤦. I mean, sure, they’re probably the most perfectly decorated treats I’ve ever seen, but flavor-wise? They're just okay. Nothing spectacular. Plus, it's just some lady baking from her home kitchen—not even a real business or anything—so charging 😠 is wild. And she’s being such a headache about the cake itself; she calls me every three days with some stupid suggestion, even though I made it crystal clear that I want this kind of cake, just with flowers instead of a bride and groom. She’s gonna drive me crazy 🤦. And of course, because she says she doesn't have the right pan or whatever, it’ll end up being round 😬 haha, and yeah, extra frosting, or whatever 😢

In my neck of the woods in the Midwest, we do three separate dinners. First one's at 8:00—appetizers, soup, and the usual sides. Then around 11:00, we hit the roast pork and lamb, plus maybe two helpings of some hearty stew or cabbage rolls. You definitely won't be hungry. 😁

They were wonderful and really sturdy. My dad also picked up about ten other pieces from a lady at a rest stop on the highway. But the ones from that small town in the US were much nicer.
The church is downtown in Indianapolis. It's the beautiful Holy Mary's name cathedral.

if you ever decide to sell any Hats, shoot me a DM 😁

sunshine, you look incredible, seriously!!! I gotta ask though, where did you get those little bottle hats??
And that church looks so familiar to me!!!

blueheron15 said:I ended up ordering mine through Adobe.. Prices are listed right next to every design! Just heads up, you gotta pay shipping on top of that—they ship straight from Adobe—and that's $17 because they don't stock them locally, so they order them in. Feels a bit shady to me, but hey, works!
Adobe wasn't really my favorite experience, but I gotta admit, the decorations are killer! 😉

these last ones without the price tags are actually pretty decent, I guess.😍

I'm looking for young couples like this, or something close to it, but I can't find anything 😢

There are tons of them on here, but nothing actually fits what I had in mind... 😢

Nah, I just showed the guy some pics, and once he saw they were just spotlights on a stand, he totally lost it 🤷 like, he thinks it’s lame, kind of like some middle school dance vibe... but I actually think it looks fine, especially when those green lights mix with the white... 🤷
And honestly, some high-end light show is way too expensive for us 😢
but I found them on Facebook, so I'll probably just shoot them a message anyway 😉

Anyway, I’ve seen one of these setups in person before. Honestly, my mind was blown when I saw them hitting the lasers, the gobo lights, the color washes, the fog, and the bubbles all at once... and that was just during a ten-minute Midwest folk dance set, but still...🙄
Then the guy walked up to us and said he just wanted to show off his gear since we only had about 15 minutes to watch him work "on-site."
We hashed out the details, including which colors I definitely don't want. He tried to push back a little, saying stuff like, "Why only green? You won't get the full effect of the light show," but I wasn't having any of it—at the end of the day, I'm the one paying.

So, what price did you guys settle on? The ad says $500, but that seems kind of low to me 🤷

Hey girls, I’m honestly having a bit of an identity crisis here... 🤷
I’ve been thinking about adding a light show to the wedding, but I’m really not sure if it’ll clash with the live folk band... what do you guys think?
I stumbled upon this listing online, so I’m probably gonna give them a call to see what the deal is.

Does anyone happen to know exactly what kind of performance they actually put on?

rowdypanther16 said:Joe, look, it’s just one of those traditions, you know? I’m planning on wearing my jewelry because my mother-in-law actually gave me some cash for it, so I went ahead and picked out a necklace, some earrings, and a bracelet all by myself a little while before the wedding. I’m going to rock them on the big day, but honestly, it's mostly because I am absolutely obsessed with how they look. If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't even bother.

I mean, I wasn't even planning on this. I honestly didn't expect to get anything, since whenever my mother-in-law goes shopping, she picks up stuff like coral or Murano glass... I really wasn't counting on this at all. But since I actually like the jewelry, I guess I might wear it. Maybe it's also a way to show respect to her, since she's been such a huge help to us. Maybe I'll dedicate one little detail of the wedding to her... 🤷 I don't know, honestly. 😕

I’m honestly pretty torn here... is it a thing where the bride wears a necklace gifted by her mother-in-law at the wedding?? So, I actually received one, and everyone keeps telling me that in the Midwest, it’s just what you do—that it's tradition to wear it... but I already planned out a totally different look for myself. I mean, if it really is a standard tradition, the piece is beautiful and it's not like it won't look good on me, but... 🤷

Chloe Evans6 said:We stopped by the busiest, most popular coffee shop in town... so... I'm honestly pretty worried... we're going to check with a few other places too, but I have my doubts—if the folks at this one are telling the truth 😕
I really hope I can find them, otherwise all my little plans for decorating those bottles will just go down the drain 😢😢😢

They told me Coca-Cola isn't moving that fast in local cafes lately, so it's tough to collect them. But hey, we got these little bottles at a wedding once—they were from an Ice Age cooler, wrapped in twine at the bottom with a tricolor ribbon on top. Looked awesome
🙂 these are the bottles

Also, they mentioned those are the returnable bottles where businesses get a nickel back, so they don't really like letting them go. Maybe just offer to buy them out from under them... 🤷

As for the music, we’ve actually booked a Midwestern band, so my fiancé is leaning toward their track "Golden Valley" for the first dance. It’s not exactly a showstopper, but... well... they might slow it down a bit, though I can't say for sure.

Ivona, I actually think that song is really beautiful 😉 🙂

anyone living near the new suburbs? I'm looking to pick up some engagement rings... honestly, I really don't feel like driving all the way into Washington, D.C., especially since the prices there are just insane... 🤦
also, if you know any shops that carry little things like hair accessories, flowers, beads, etc...

Looks like nobody around here is from the outskirts of New Orleans... 😢 I mean, I guess you could ask for some advice on a nice folk song for the first dance, since we're definitely having a live band playing that kind of music at the end anyway. I'm honestly totally stumped. 🤷 😢 😢
