^Both the EP and the debut album are great, but I’m totally obsessed with the "ribbon-like" flow of The Shrine/an argument! One of my favorite moments from the concert was definitely everyone singing along to Sunlight over me no matter What i do, not to mention that second half—in The ocean, washing off my name from your throat...
It runs a little long and gets a bit polished toward the end, but: Pecknold has already taken to Twitter to defend the song, saying that he feels “like it’s an important part of the record emotionally. It’s not necessarily enjoyable but we’re proud of the whole song.'' 😁
A Your Protector 😵
...
I’m slowly drifting back toward Beach House lately, and honestly, this track is just pure magic—I've had it on repeat forever, it is happening again...
(Just realized Kendrick Lamar and a few other rappers have sampled them. Hey, if the pros can smell the greatness, why shouldn't we?...)

Man, seeing all these familiar favorites in one place—it really brings back memories!

Steven Newman50 said:I'm still thinking about that track—it’s just such a vibe! It reminds me of a rainy afternoon back in Seattle when I first heard it—totally stuck in my head. Your fire burns for me... — honestly, such a killer line. It just hits different!
Red as grace... — honestly, just such a vibe!
That flush just hit your cheeks so fast—it was almost too easy!

Wonder Quote 👍

Lawrence Ross4 said:Just spinning The Mars Volta—"Roulette" is such a trip! It’s one of those tracks that always gets me thinking about those late-night drives through the suburbs—just pure energy.

Such an incredible album—it's one of those records I used to blast back in high school, and honestly, it still hits just as hard today. I especially love Televators and This Apparatus... It’s kind of funny because I don't usually dive into this type of music—definitely a bit of a mystery for me!—but I rarely find myself reaching for their stuff, even if I love it when I do.

Dennis Hall41 said:Another legendary Jason—the one we unfortunately lost—Molina, plus that immortal Songs: Ohia classic, Farewell Transmission. Farewell Transmission—man, what a ride. Just listening to it again today and thinking about how much it hits different now.

Just another moody Songs: Ohia zimzelenik: track—definitely hitting those heavy vibes today.
Songs: Ohia zimzelenik: Lioness Lioness — such a beautiful record. It always puts me in a great mood—just pure magic!

I actually put Lioness on my list of saddest songs once—lol—it’s just such an authentic sad song... I'm glad they finally left that feeling behind.

Just let it all out—honestly, sometimes you just need a good cry to clear your head!

Honestly 😁 My issue is just that for every 15 minutes of chatter that doesn't even involve me, there's about 10 minutes where I actually have to jump in—so I’m constantly on edge, basically listening with one ear cocked 😢

All Them Witches - The Marriage of Coyote Woman

This is great!

Nothing much to report over here—just an endless stream of boring video calls 🥱

human performance, man, it’s just so easy to listen to and soak everything in 😍

It’s not really about whether people like the music or not—I mean, I don't exactly have all their tracks on repeat either! It's more that in your first post, you drew these parallels and made assumptions about VB and their fans that basically paint everyone involved as fake 😁, which doesn't actually address the music itself. I don't really get that 80s vibe you're talking about as their main thing—maybe a little in Šanpjer and a few other tracks—but I don't think they're mocking anyone. If anything, I'd say they're just openly inspired by their influences.
Maybe I just misread your point. Anyway, since you were wondering what the deal was, I figured I'd try to clear things up in my last post.

Steven Newman50 said:If you ask me, these guys just found a way to play what they love using this totally unique, slightly offbeat lyrical style. And honestly? The best part is how subtle they keep it.

They kind of remind me of Radost!—you know, those guys who lean into that blues-rock humor. They're seriously talented musicians who sound great, but they don't take themselves too seriously either. That’s exactly the vibe I get from this group.

👍
That's really all there is to it...
Dennis Hall41 is trying way too hard to overanalyze and force comparisons where they don't belong. At their core, VB is a laid-back, playful concept—they just sound fresh, have this chill, positive energy, and people clearly dig it. They aren't afraid to credit their influences, but they aren't just copying anyone; everything fits perfectly into that whole nostalgic space traveler story about Valentin. I personally love how diverse their tracks are—Šanpjer feels like some 80s space disco 😁, while Toyota Cosmos is this melancholic ballad with a bit of a coastal island feel. Btw, I think the accent sounds like something straight out of 17th-century Maui.

I can't even remember who actually taught me these moves—it was such a random moment!
Pageant MC: Oh, that’s just precious. Is he around right now? And where's your grandpa hanging out these days?
Olive—she’s currently chilling in the trunk of our car!

I just caught this video—really interesting stuff! It actually reminds me a bit of that documentary I watched last week about urban planning in Chicago—just some food for thought while you're sipping your morning coffee.

Such a sweet movie—honestly, it just totally melted my heart! 😍

Chloe Wilson46 I'm sorry, I didn't catch that—it looks like you might have missed part of your message! Feel free to drop it again whenever you're ready.
By the way—ever since I switched my profile to the dark mode theme—I haven't been getting any random DMs from total strangers. Honestly? It’s got its perks! 😁

Honestly, I can't even remember the first time I heard Šanpjer Kozmonaut—but my crew and I totally fell in love with them, and we end up playing their stuff all the time at get-togethers. When we first listened to ritak zrak, we were absolutely cracking up trying to figure out the lyrics—we came up with like five different interpretations! I still low-key think he’s saying "dropped my iPhone." 😁 ...anyway, Supra cosmos diacritica is actually really sweet and sentimental.

Something new, Šukadar Bukadar 🙂

Make some new kids—just make some new kids
These ones aren't working out, so we need some new kids ASAP

Create new words, write some new songs

Protomartyr - Processed By the Boys

So, my partner actually figured this out yesterday... we were scrolling through the comments under the video and were totally lost as to why all these intense Brazilians were losing their minds. Turns out, the whole thing is a direct nod to some obscure Brazilian meme that only they get—something from a trashy national TV show about a decade ago 🙏 which is wild since the band is American, right? Nobody else gets why they’d recreate it in their video.
Naturally, I had to hunt down the original video 🤣
I felt a little bit closer to Brazilians after that little pop culture deep dive! It's kind of like if someone took a clip from an old late-night sketch show and dropped it into a music video here in the States.

Anyway, I'm really digging the band—they have a lot of different influences, but it all comes together nicely. The track above gives me Idles vibes, but this one is great too—the vocalist reminds me a bit of Cave.

Dennis Hall41 said:Man, just pure beauty right there.

The nostalgia hit me hard today—it’s actually a bit overwhelming—so I had to dig up these tracks from Bird, Shins, and Belle and Sebastian. I remember playing them back-to-back during an indie-pop set I hosted on the radio back in 2010 or 2011.

These are absolute indie classics. Honestly, while I was still grinding away at the office last week, they were blasting Sister Buddha at Starbucks every single day—usually around the same time, too.
When it comes to Andrew, *The Mysterious Production...* is my go-to album, and "Fake Palindromes" is definitely my favorite song—even if it is a little dark. 😁

she says, "I like long walks and sci-fi movies
If you're six foot tall and east coast bred
Some lonely night we can get together
And I'm gonna tie your wrists with leather
And drill a tiny hole into your head"

I spent about half an hour hunting for some background music to work to 🤦 ... honestly Nils.

@ Steven Newman50: Any clue how I can shrink the font in my signature? It won't let me through the settings (says BB Code Size not allowed). Got any insider moderator tips for me?

Jamie Davis9, I’m so sorry you had to go through all that—it sounds intense. Things were way calmer over here; nothing more than a broken glass or two, though I probably would've just slept right through it if my neighbors hadn't woken me up to scramble into the car 😁
Hopefully, we're in the clear for at least the next century!

A little bit of spoilers here

I'm still not sure if Don was actually one of those wealthy guys at the end—honestly, my gut says no.
The movie doesn't really care about deep themes or being believable, so I didn't bother overthinking it too much.
Even the American soldiers have that weird accent Travolta gets when he plays a Mexican, so they might as well have cast someone like Navojac 😁
There are a few decent quotes, and the concept itself isn't bad, but the execution felt incredibly lazy and sluggish to me. Half the characters are totally pointless, and the way they picked their victims—plus how they talked to each other—was just off... it’s like the writers ignored actual plot development and rushed through everything just to squeeze in some references to the current American political climate.
That final fight with the woman was actually good.
It feels like someone had a massive fixation on Kill Bill—right from the first shot, she reminded me of Um, wearing that orange jacket. 😁 Everyone seems to be praising her (saying her acting is the best part of the movie), but personally, I thought she was totally overacting. And those one-liners right before she attacks, like "hello, bitch"... 🤦

Man, this Angel Olsen stuff is actually pretty good—I can't even remember who first told me about her, but I’ll probably catch her set at the local arena!

Edit: oh man, Deva is killing it! I am seriously craving a night out on the dance floor right now😁
