PC build under $1,100 for Adobe + some gaming in Desktops ·
You forgot the most important part: which card are we talking about, and how many installments are you planning to stretch the payments over? 🕺

They're actually competitive enough. Prices are fine. They aren't running a clearance sale like Centro, Adm, or futur must go.

Sure they are, as long as half their stock is out of stock.🤦

Can someone help me out. http://www.newegg.com/ build me a rig for under 10k and then drop a screenshot of the cart here?

Why there specifically? There are way better shops than Newegg.

If you’ve actually got a budget like that, don't waste it on some pre-built rig from a big-box store where they just throw parts together and ship it to your door for free.

But when you drop $250 on a unit and it shows up dead on arrival, that's a different story.
It’s such a headache they don't carry these at Best Buy... if they did, I could just walk in, get my money back, and maybe they'd even throw in a credit for the trouble.

Does anyone have a solid recommendation for an air cooler? I'm running this on my i9.

I've got the AMD version😬
So, what's the budget for this cooler?
driftingdrifter88 said:I'm just going to tell my buddy he needs to ditch those cheap parts and finally install some decent cooling, and then it’s all over...

Look, I'm not denying water cooling wins on temps and all that, but air cooling is the way to go for me. It's easier to maintain, and if a fan dies, you just swap it out. Simple as that.
driftingdrifter88 said:I’ve got a bit of a situation with my Predator 360—the pump is leaking just a tiny bit, like a slow misting or something.
The cooler is actually that newer version they released after the initial redesign...

So, is this actually normal behavior, or should I be worried? Honestly, this is my first time ever dealing with liquid cooling, so I'm flying a bit blind here.

just sell it then☕

That’s just how it is.👍Every single time I stop by my local Target, they give me the same old runaround. It’s been five or six times now where they tell me I have to wait a few days for something that is clearly sitting right there on the shelf. Honestly, what is wrong with these people? I look them in the eye and point out that the stock is right there in front of them—absolute jokers—but they just won't budge. They are incredibly stubborn. So, I just tell them I'll be back in an hour, then I walk back in an hour later with the order already paid for, laughing right in their faces. I made sure to let them know: lying isn't a good look, guys. Not at all.😛

haha, I order stuff and don't even rush over there immediately. I'll head in later that same day, and honestly, I've never run into an issue.👍
mellowtiger83 said:True. But Best Buy has this interesting little loophole. You walk into the store and ask if you can get the online price. Naturally, they say no. So, you just head out, grab a coffee, place the order online, and then walk right back in to pick up the gear. They have to honor it since it's sitting there in stock anyway. The whole catch is that you’re supposed to wait three to five days for shipping after an online order. Honestly, what a bunch of amateurs. Heh.

I just order from my couch and swing by to pick it up immediately. No waiting around for anything.🙂
analogtiger19 said:And besides, just order online because the prices are actually lower. Walking into a store to place an order is the worst move you can make; they won't give you the online discount, so you're basically leaving money on the table.

I've been doing exactly what's in the Links for about 2 or 3 years now. 😁

Nah. Maybe the PSU, though. Just pop the side panel off and post a photo of the power supply here.

There’s nothing else you need to bother with. Just plug the card in, install the drivers, and you're good to go. 😁

The only thing we don't know is what kind of power supply you're running. Pop the side panel off and snap a photo of the PSU sticker.

With your budget, you can fit what I put together—decent CPU and GPU combo, so you won't be hunting for upgrades anytime soon.

If you happen to have $67 extra cash, I'd throw in a GTX 1050ti. It'll keep you set for gaming way longer. 😁

Honestly, he doesn't even need an i5; this isn't exactly a heavy-duty workload.

Where's the GPU? Just using integrated graphics?

What if the kid actually wants to play some games? xD

Jack Reed said:Just a total noob question here: if I decide down the road that I want to swap out the processor, the hard drive, or something else entirely, is that actually doable?

Yeah. For the CPU, you're mostly stuck with used parts since AMD is dropping a new platform this spring. Everything else is easy to swap.

It's the same deal with Intel, though they usually charge more than AMD.

Jack Reed said:Oh, great, thanks for the help. Could you recommend a specific configuration? I'm looking to buy something for my kid to use for web design, so any advice would be huge. I'll probably just grab it from Newegg!

Thanks

Just grab the setup I already laid out for you above. If you pay cash, it's a flat $1333.

Jack Reed said:Can you give me some names? Which online shops are actually reliable?

Newegg, ADM, Future, Center—those are our go-to's. Prices are way better than hitting up a local Best Buy.

Jack Reed said:Starting a new thread here since I finally sorted out my budget.
I’m looking to pick up a desktop tower—no monitor needed—for around $600. I might be able to stretch a little bit if it makes sense, but nothing crazy. 😁😁

The PC is a gift for a kid who’s starting out in web design. I don't know the technical specifics of what that entails, but they won't be gaming; it's all about design work and whatever else falls under that umbrella.
I plan on buying the machine in person at a shop in San Francisco using cash.

I’d really appreciate some help picking out a reliable local shop and a solid hardware setup. I want to make sure I don't end up buying a lemon or something that’s going to fail them in six months.

I see how much you guys help others and how satisfied everyone seems, so I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction too.

Thanks!

P.S. I was typing in a rush and messed up the title with "monfiguracija"😁 — I meant configuration.

Don't feel tied to buying in San Francisco. Just order from a solid online retailer in a major city like Chicago or NYC; they usually offer free assembly and home delivery if you spend over $667, and you can just pay the driver when it arrives.

If it isn't an Uber-level emergency, I'd wait a few days for more deals to pop up on the GTX 1050 or other budget models. 😁

You sure you actually plugged the monitor into the GPU instead of the motherboard's integrated graphics 😬?

Jack Reed said:Well, if I'm going to stretch my wallet to the breaking point, is this actually any good? http://www.bestbuy.com/pc-desktop-.../Pro7/product/

Standard rule: we don't recommend pre-built rigs. It's like buying a mystery box. You have no clue what motherboard, power supply, or RAM you're actually getting. Too many unknowns.
