Melbourne Grand Prix - March 17, 2019 in Formula 1 ·
What are you all arguing about? Even if they had put Ayrton Senna behind the wheel during his absolute prime, Ferrari wouldn't have even come close to the podium.

Let’s be realistic. Charles Leclerc was being a bit too optimistic here, and we all know Sebastian Vettel has a habit of missing those blind spots.🙂

They managed to get through, I suppose, though things might have been better for PR if they had just started with a double DNF. It would have given the higher-ups at the headquarters something to actually do—maybe finally find a way to cool down those two hotheads.

Good grief, stormybadger8, you’d be firing drivers left and right after nothing more than the very first race. 🤣

As things stand regarding the lineup for the race in Austin, it appears Kvyat will be back in the Red Bull Racing seat, while Gasly moves over to AlphaTauri.

stormybadger8 said:Another conspiracy theory. 😁

Valtteri Bottas is basically being handed titles just because that's what Toto Wolff wants. 🤣
He’s even got a new race engineer this season—Lewis Hamilton's former guy...
Last time they pulled a swap like that, Nico Rosberg walked away with the championship. 🤔

🎉🎉

The reality is Bottas needs to build a massive points cushion within the first five races, specifically while Lewis Hamilton is still shaking off the winter slumber.

They asked Hamilton if he had the pace, and his response was that they were just saving the engine. It's quite a convenient excuse, considering he didn't even look like he was trying to contest Bottas on track.

To hell with the FIA and Liberty Media; the racing looks even worse than last year in terms of following distance. 🤦

At least Valtteri Bottas finally grabbed a win, though Lewis looks strangely off. 🤔

The Live timing is an absolute disaster; it isn't worth a single $1.75 per year. 🤦
The F1 TV broadcast is mediocre at best, but I suppose it’s better than nothing.

Ferrari is dominating. 🙏
What losers, they aren't even close. 🤦
They could have at least attempted to take a Formula 1 win, but it seems they calculated that they simply don't stand a chance, even on fresh tires. 🤦
The race car appears to be in a coma—a deep one—on softs and mediums, or some devilish thing is just fundamentally wrong with Sebastian's car. 🤷

Red Bull is incredibly good this season; Ferrari can celebrate until they're blue in the face if they manage to secure second in the constructors' championship.

It is strange. It seemed like Ferrari was much faster on the hard tire. Charles Leclerc was on hards during the final stint and was dropping massive amounts of time on Sebastian. There is no logic to it.

Worst of all, those Medium tires didn't even look worn out, which makes even less sense.

The only hope for dethroning Mercedes-Benz is Max Verstappen and Red Bull.

That Gastly guy isn't exactly top-tier material.

darkmarlin16 said:the incompetence over at Ferrari is staggering🙏

they had the chance to grab a win in FL, but they’re clearly too dim-witted to even recognize an obvious opening

🎉, plus they're holding Charles Leclerc back + their pace is abysmal + Red Bull and Max Verstappen are playing a completely different sport + they can only dream of touching Mercedes + this season is already a total write-off

Heh, Pitwaal actually ordered Charles Leclerc to get out of Sebastian Vettel's way!🙂

It’s funny how much effort goes into protecting certain drivers.
USA/Central Park 03.17.2019 in Formula 1 ·
Why is Lewis trailing so far behind the guy from Finland? Is there some kind of underlying issue?

🎉, and now he's coming for the Catholic driver too. Let's go Max!, while Bottas will probably just drop everything after about one lap.🙂

Let's go, Max. It’s time to take down Lewis Hamilton. And honestly, I suspect Charles Leclerc will be spinning off the track any second now.

I have my doubts. Ferrari will surely bounce back during the next standard race; Central Park, NYC isn't exactly a definitive benchmark.

It is quite obvious their front wing setup, much like what Alfa is running, simply isn't performing up to par. This particular track lacks high-speed corners aside from the S-bend; it's mostly a stop-and-go circuit filled with medium-speed turns.

While Mercedes might be leading, the reality isn't a massive seven-tenths gap. In truth, it’s likely closer to ten or twenty hundredths compared to the rest of the field.

Red Bull could prove to be extremely dangerous. We all know how aggressive their development pace is and just how capable they can be.

Does seeing sad faces turn you on? Perhaps some sort of masochistic streak at play here?
USA/Central Park 03.17.2019 in Formula 1 ·
It’s worth noting that Charles Leclerc is looking dangerously close to Sebastian Vettel's pace. There were even moments where he seemed to have the edge, and we shouldn't forget he’s still just finding his footing with a new team and all that.

It will be quite interesting to track his progress, as it's already becoming obvious that he's going to be significantly faster than Kimi Raikkonen.

Lando Norris made it through to Q2, while Carlos Sainz didn't 🙂, things are getting interesting!

It’s quite something how Gastly started out at Red Bull, only to be knocked out in Q3 immediately.

It couldn't have been Fizikela. The image hasn't changed; you're just perceiving it incorrectly.
He writes: "I am certain it is Fizikela!" I am not entirely sure you grasp what I am attempting to convey here.

Jamesdin had that same avatar for an eternity. The fact that you lot didn't even notice the switch just proves how blind you all are; the image is similar enough that your brains simply failed to perceive the shift, whereas mine clearly did.

It's because I operate in four (4) dimensions.

stormybadger8 said:It’s easy to say they are a second faster than Ferraria, but the real question is what their actual pace looks like...

Bear 2018 vs Bear 2019
FP1 1:24.026 vs 1:23.599
FP2 1:23.931 vs 1:22.600
Ignore FP3
Q1 1:22.824 😳
Q2 1:22.051
Q3 1:21.164

Dammit, they are already faster in FP2 than they were in last year's Q1...
and last year they had an advantage of roughly 0.8 seconds in qualifying🤦

If they are running the exact same program as last year, then everyone in the paddock is completely screwed...
Because even now, their car is about 1.3 seconds faster than last year's...

I suspect Ferrari will show some real speed, because it seems suspicious that they didn't improve during fp2 compared to fp1, especially since Charles Leclerc ran fp2 on hard tires!
