New build under $1,250? in Desktops ·
Those guys have a point; there is simply no sense in opting for such an inexpensive motherboard, for several different reasons.

Performance metrics might remain identical, but higher-end boards offer superior PCB quality, better capacitors, and so on—plus they actually look decent, though since you aren't using a plexiglass case, that is somewhat irrelevant.🙂

@Benjamin King2.

My PC is completely brand new, built by an authorized service center, so I don't gain much from mentioning it; it’s just as fresh as any other suggestion being made here.

It is available immediately and ready to ship. I am not out here promoting anyone, pushing products, or—heaven forbid—spamming.

First off, I’m not some kid. Second, I’m not trying to lecture you on anything. Third, I have zero interest in complaining to the moderators. And fourth, I actually know my way around the US tech sector far better than you do.

Futurica doesn't even have those processors in stock anymore; they pulled them from Esysa, their distributor, and whatever scraps are left are already spoken for.

By all means, try to find some if you can. Good luck with that.

Fifthly, lest I forget, my own rig—which isn't even brand new—runs everything on high settings without breaking a sweat.

If you’ve got more grievances against the moderator, perhaps take it up with him via PM.

@graniteharbor85,

Stop suggesting processors to people that aren't actually available on the market. Just because some random site lists it in their online shop doesn't mean you can actually buy it right now.

This is already the second thread where this has happened.

I don't think there's any point in being that pushy about it—it's pretty obvious he isn't looking for some insane high-end rig, just something with a solid value proposition.

Man, you seriously fascinate me, post after post:
- you're trying to sell this guy a semi-new build where the most critical parts barely even have a warranty left.
- it's a dead-end platform with zero room for future upgrades.
- the price tag is way too high for what it is.
- I'd love to actually see those 3.5 GHz speeds in action and watch how all the games run on Ultra settings like you're so confidently claiming. 🤣
- plus, it’s honestly weaker than a few of the newer builds they've got sitting at Best Buy right now.

First off, we are talking about a GTX 660 here. The PC is practically new and comes with original Windows licenses. Read carefully. The processor was running at 3.5 GHz without any issues whatsoever.

Battlefield 4 on Ultra at Full HD hits 40-80 fps.

By the way, this rig will be gone within two days, just like all my other builds, so there's no need for the unnecessary chatter.

Also, those FPS numbers were measured at stock frequency using Fraps.

crimsonstag84's setup has 4GB, why even bother with that junk case, and what's the point of the 500GB drive???? all just to squeeze in an R9 280

@Robert Rodriguez2, you definitely need a CPU cooler for that AMD build, especially since you're using a Zalman mini case without any fans.

Back when I first started out at the Micro Center, I put together three separate builds featuring top-tier cases, an EVGA r9 290, premium peripherals, and high-end monitors. Honestly, nobody has managed to assemble a better setup for that price point since🙂.

Plus, you're buying everything directly from an authorized distributor here in the States🙂

And just forget about that Cooler Master z3; you’d be much better off picking up something from Logitech or SteelSeries.

7790, I'm hoping to snag it for around 500-$200, so you should probably hurry up. Check eBay, obviously. It’s a beast of a card; highly recommended.

I honestly find it baffling how Zalman hasn't pulled that Z3 model from the shelves yet. There must be millions of complaints regarding that power button; I've seen so many people just rerouting their power switch to the reset button instead.

Wtf.
Got it, bought. Just need to toss in a GTX 660, overclock it to 3.2GHz, swap in some 4GB sticks, and then I can list the whole thing on eBay as a gaming rig, blah blah.
The Esc a75f-a black series is the motherboard I've settled on; I'm just hoping the build quality holds up.

That machine from Amy Vaughn12 is quite something🙂,

I didn't honestly expect to see a configuration like this at that price point, lol. You even have a decent power supply included. Just bump $100 up a bit more and you've got yourself a solid gaming rig with an R7 260x

Intel Core i3 quad core 2.05ghz am1
Asrock am1 mbo
4gb ddr3
Sapphire r7 250x
Toshiba 500gb sata3
Spire Maverick case
Spire 420w
Dwd-rw

Price $790 at Best Buy, 🙂

You could skip the AMD route and grab an Intel Celeron that actually performs better, or perhaps even a Pentium G. Still, one must admit the AMD is a quad core🙂 he he
crimsonstag84 said:It’s a bit weaker than the Intel Core i3-4130 and the multiplier is locked, though I guess you could still try some overclocking via the Intel Front Side Bus. If you're pairing it with some cheap mATX motherboard, I probably wouldn't pick it up for $233.

So, you bump up the Intel Front Side Bus just like you would with a Core 2 Duo or those Intel quad series chips. Doing that doesn't affect the PCI Express bus, which caps out at 105MHz anyway.

The board itself costs more than an ASUS AM1 setup; it isn't junk, and it features a substantial cooler, though I don't recall the specific model offhand.

I read somewhere that you can push it to 3.5GHz. Clearly, the Intel Front Side Bus isn't tied to the PCI Express bus frequency. If they were linked, you couldn't possibly break past 2950MHz given that the multiplier is locked.

An AM1 Athlon paired with a Radeon R7 260x, an Srotex power supply, and 4GB of RAM. That’s the setup. Tested and verified.
Does anyone happen to have more intel on this processor? I know it’s an FM1 socket using the Lianuo architecture, but I can't find much regarding whether the multiplier is unlocked. There's just a total lack of info out there.

I have a chance to snag it for $233, which includes the motherboard and an Arctic 64 cooler.

Any insight would be appreciated. By the way, everything is brand new—full warranty and a complete bundle.☕

It is one thing when you are dealing with insufficient RAM, causing the system to swap to the hard drive and everything just falls apart—constant lag, endless waiting, the whole ordeal.

Eight gigabytes is overkill; the system will absolutely never need to touch virtual memory.
Four gigabytes is more than sufficient for ninety percent of current tasks. Eight gigs serves as a little insurance policy for the future, whereas sixteen is simply a waste of money and an exercise in futility that will never see actual use.

Those who actually require that much memory aren't gamers. That level of usage is reserved for specialized video editing software or extreme multitasking, things a standard user will never encounter.

In short, eight gigabytes is overkill and should carry you through the next two or three years. For anything today, four is plenty.

Chris Robinson25 said:You're putting "only" 8GB of RAM into a $1,500 rig?

I would suggest 16GB should be the baseline. 😉

And what exactly would be the reasoning for that???? Just one reason if you actually have one??? Please???🙂🤣
Crossfire with AMD Radeon HD 6850 - worth it? in Desktops ·
He doesn't necessarily need to buy something brand new. Buying used saves a significant amount of cash; an 7870 would be more than enough for $300 and similar setups.
The 955be is certainly potentially faster—you know exactly what I'm getting at here🙂.
It is rather curious that none of you have pointed out his attempt to cram 4x4 GB or even 3x2 GB into a motherboard that only features two slots.🙂
