Look, you can't just go wandering around trying to flush out heavy metals on your own. It’s not like a weekend juice cleanse where you just feel a bit lightheaded. You have to do it under controlled conditions using specific chemicals—what they call chelation therapy. If you don't do it properly, you're just playing with fire.
Let’s be real: you can't just eat your way out of a bad life. People act like if they swap their cheeseburgers for kale salads and organic quinoa, all their problems will magically vanish. It’s a joke. You can follow every nutrition guide under the sun, obsess over macros, and spend a fortune on overpriced superfoods, but that isn't going to fix your mental health, your job, or the fact that the world is a chaotic mess. Eating "clean" is fine if you want to feel less sluggish, but don't go thinking a bowl of steamed broccoli is a substitute for actually living or solving your actual issues.

If it isn’t your headache, don't go looking for it.
Hold on a second. Are you seriously trying to mess with perfectly healthy fillings that aren't causing any issues just because you caught wind of some scary rumors about mercury in amalgam?

Look, you need to realize that the supposed danger posed by an old dental amalgam filling is nothing compared to the actual risk you're taking by getting those fillings pulled for no damn reason. You’re basically inviting unnecessary trauma to your mouth. And honestly? You'll probably end up footing the entire bill yourself, too, since most insurance providers aren't going to cover a procedure that isn't medically necessary.
Just hold onto them while you can. Problems are coming—it’s not a matter of if, but when. Until then, just be glad your teeth aren't giving you grief right now.

It’s not exactly "unnecessary" when the fillings are over 15 years old; I find that age makes a difference. 😁
I appreciate the advice, though, truly. 😉

Oof, that sounds pretty rough. 😢 I’m planning on getting mine replaced too, though I haven't quite decided where to go yet... My usual dentist, the one who put these amalgams in over fifteen years ago, is getting up there in age and nearing retirement, so I don't really feel comfortable sticking with her... And private practices can be so pricey, so I'm still weighing my options.

I'll definitely take a look at that report you mentioned once I have a spare moment—hopefully sometime tomorrow. 🙂

Thanks for all the input everyone. 🙂

stormyheron4, that movie someone shared in that earlier thread was actually fantastic:

Endymion, I’ve only got three fillings, so I’m hoping it won’t turn into much of a headache; though, truth be told, I’ve been diving into this conspiracy theory book lately, so I might be letting a little unnecessary panic get the better of me. 😁

For those of you still looking for some insight into mercury detoxification, I was doing a bit of digging and stumbled upon some really great instructions on an American site—hopefully the language barrier isn't an issue here 🙄—that walk through the whole process. http://www.serbiancafe.com/lat/disku...radjeda.html?8

Hi everyone 🙂
Does anyone here know if mercury detoxification programs actually exist, and if so, where one might find them?
Is it something you can achieve through herbal teas and similar remedies, or is the process more complex than that?

It seems to me that those old amalgam fillings—which are made up of more than 50% mercury—might be causing all sorts of health issues. It’s been suggested that the mercury trapped within those dark fillings constantly leaks into the bloodstream, creating these little "short circuits" in the brain that could lead to depression and various other ailments. I've also heard that simply replacing the fillings isn't enough; apparently, you also need to undergo a full detoxification program to really clear it out.

Right now, it feels like any reporter can just launch an attack on whoever they want, regardless of whether they’re actually telling the truth or not.

Honestly, criticizing the media feels like an attack on democracy sometimes—probably because we're still stuck in old ways of thinking. Journalists have basically become untouchable, almost like the Church used to be.

Like, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times can claim that America doesn't need a Secretary of Commerce who grew up in some tiny rural town, but you'll rarely see anyone call out a columnist for, say, barely scraping through middle school with failing grades.

We get to swap out politicians every four years through voting, sure, but journalists? They only get replaced if their boss decides to let them go—and those decisions are usually based on much shadier motives.

Is there any kind of actual safeguard to protect us from bad journalism?

Well, there isn't just one single entity, but rather a whole framework of regulations at play, including the Communications Act, specific laws governing public broadcasters like PBS, and several others that I can't quite recall off the top of my head. Beyond the legal side, you also have various journalistic standards to consider, such as ethical codes and professional conduct guidelines. If you ever feel like a reporter has insulted you, caused you actual harm, or outright lied about you, you always have the option to take them to court, don't you?
