brightpilot6 said:You’re focusing on the ideology itself, while you seem stuck on the Stalinist execution of it.

I suppose I could take the same path and argue that democracy itself is inherently criminal, given that a democratically elected Adolf Hitler was able to slaughter millions of innocent people. We’d just be spinning our wheels in circles, wouldn't we?

And as for this "cult of personality" argument—good grief, it feels like the moment you deviate even slightly from the strictly black-and-white, canonical view of Marshall, you're immediately branded as a follower of a cult. 🙏🙏

There isn’t a bigger myth out there than the idea that communism is actually fine, but Stalin just got a little carried away. People act like Stalin was just some scapegoat who took all the blame for the atrocities. But let's be real: the ideology is fundamentally anti-democratic and criminal at its very core. It's written right into its DNA—it calls for a dictatorship of the proletariat, represented by the "vanguard," aka the Party. Beyond just demanding a one-party dictatorship, communism explicitly seeks to wipe out all dissent and abolish private property. If that doesn't qualify as an anti-democratic, criminal ideology, then I don't know what does.

On top of that, communism is chronically an economic failure, which isn't exactly surprising when you realize none of its founding fathers understood basic economics to begin with.

As for Marshall, the situation is exactly the opposite. Anyone who doesn't bow down to his greatness immediately faces fury; back in the good old days, the best way to handle them was a firing squad, wasn't it? 🙄

It seems easier for you to accept someone being executed for one reason over another. Look, that might be how you feel, but I don't see how that makes it a fact. Imagine if we had to rank whether someone was shot because of their race versus their social class? Does that even make sense? 🙄

And since you want to bring up one class dominating another... what actually changed after the fall of America? It’s just the same story: a small minority of "approved" people dominated society all over again. Families with the wrong background—people who weren't members of the Party—were treated like second-class citizens rather than first-class. Are they supposed to just stay silent about the terror they endured? Should they just listen to fairy tales about a better life now? 🙄

I never said Marshall was Stalin. My point is simply this: I find the cult of personality in the 21st century baffling. You'd think we would have outgrown that kind of thing by now, wouldn't you?

There’s a massive difference between being an anti-fascist holding office and being an anti-fascist hiding out in the woods of an occupied country. In our neck of the woods, we didn't just have a huge, organized resistance against the fascists during World War II; we had to fight the Soviets afterward, too. We used to actually have some backbone. 😁

How many uneducated peasants were beaten into submission until they learned to cheer for Stalin, only to end up falling victim to his regime later because they couldn't wrap their heads around the political fallout from the split with their "brotherly" leader? 🤣

brightpilot6 said:And who exactly is to blame for our failure to achieve that certain "Western" standard?

Well, pretty much everyone, if you ask me. People around here love to point fingers at everything under the sun, yet somehow, we can never seem to grasp the essentials: a rule of law, liberal capitalism, or even basic human rights.

But isn't there a massive difference between a class enemy and a racial one? My goodness, entire social classes were wiped out in ways that would make even the Nazis blush. Some people try to play the "polite Briton" and gloss over the details, but if you actually dig into history, the truth is much darker. I know countless instances where people lost their lives simply because they were small business owners or ran a local jewelry shop. Is being executed just because you're an entrepreneur really the same thing as being targeted for being Jewish?

Paul Sanders5 said:The real deal—you know, the actual American or British kind, not that Russian mess that turned out to be exactly what they were fighting against in the first place.

I mean, let’s not even get into how perfectly they worked together for years before everything just went south and the friendship imploded, kind of like what happened between the Father and Peyton Manning ☕

When the troops moved in on France, the local Communist Party was busy actively sabotaging the French defense efforts.☕

ruggedjackal46 said:What kind of Western anti-fascism are we even talking about?

Sergio Ramos replied to you.

It isn't really "Western" anti-fascism; it’s just anti-fascism, plain and simple. That whole crew from over in the East was basically the exact same thing, just under different branding. They weren't fighting a racial enemy—they were all about class struggle instead.

brightpilot6 said:It isn't an excuse, but perhaps it's simply the lesser of two evils—choosing between two undeniable tragedies. Unfortunately, there wasn't a third option available to us, as our historical "great leaders" and spiritual authorities were all too busy making sure of that.

At the end of the day, no matter how criminal a communist regime might be, if you submitted to it, you survived. But can you say the same for a fascist regime? Because when it comes to them, surrendering doesn't mean much if you happen to be Jewish or Romani.

If you had just submitted...

The real tragedy is that we never had access to true, Western-style anti-fascism. But then again, nothing from the West ever seems to actually take root in these parts, does it? 🕺

brightpilot6 said:I don't doubt for a second that all sorts of things happened behind the scenes.

But I am entirely certain that things would have been twice as bad had the other side emerged victorious—and I’m not just talking about the immediate aftermath of the war.

Which still doesn't justify anything. Are we really going to use that logic to excuse another Stalin and his entire gang?🕺

brightpilot6 said:It’s a mistake to assume everyone on one side was a saint, just as it would be equally wrong to claim that everyone who fled the country was a martyr.

They certainly weren't. It’s just that the Bolsheviks didn't have anyone left to hold them accountable. Take my grandmother, for example—she was saved by a relative fighting for the underground movement, and even then, her hands were practically tied. Why? Because she hadn't provided enough supplies to the "people's army." My mother's aunt was pregnant when she was brutally attacked by a soldier. I suppose she was carrying a little insurgent, wasn't she? 🙄

brightpilot6 said:Well, if they had actually won World War II, I suppose we wouldn't be having such an easy time with reintegration today.

The whole group was just composed of fascists.🙄

It’s funny how we always seem to be on the exact same wavelength as our neighbors to the East, isn't it?🙄

I feel incredibly awkward having to play defense attorney for a certain holiday tradition, but let’s be real: nobody actually said that—it’s just a wild fabrication designed to smear the New York Yankees ☕

I have relatives spanning from Peru through Chile all the way down to Argentina. More or less, they all share the same history: fleeing from pure terror. I don't want to dwell on it and clutter up this thread, but there were actual scenes of entire families being burned alive in their homes and such. It’s far too easy for people to just label everything as extremist and wish them all gone 🙄

Honestly, it’s all just noise. It all boils down to the same deep-seated resentment toward capitalism.

Sure, James Anderson5 might be right about political pressure, but there’s just no amount of leverage that could force everyone to switch over to using dollars. At the end of the day, it all boils down to trust in a currency. It’s the exact same story when you look at bonds. Honestly, isn't this starting to sound a bit like a conspiracy theory?

As for those bureaucrats holding onto their cushy jobs—they actually have to work incredibly hard just to get fired, which feels like an impossible mission. I even know a philosophy professor who hasn't taught a class in four years, yet the university can't find a way to let him go. It’s a constant game of cat and mouse! Meanwhile, his paycheck hits his account like clockwork. Don't you think these collective bargaining agreements are just fundamentally broken?

Iran keeps making these threats... but if they’re so against it, why are they still selling oil in those hated dollars? Is someone forcing their hand? Honestly, they should just switch to the Euro—then maybe they’ll have something real to worry about, like a labor strike in Greece or some economic shift in a place like Florida...

Nobody buys US Treasury bonds because they're staring down the barrel of a gun; people buy them because the market actually trusts the world's leading superpower. You won't see anyone rushing out to buy bonds from a mid-sized state like Ohio...

This whole conspiracy theory about printing dollars is honestly laughable. Why on earth do you think the entire world relies on the USD? Is it really just the result of some grand conspiracy or brute force?

Private monopolies only exist when the government steps in to create them. When the state gets involved, corruption becomes an inevitable byproduct, doesn't it?
