Bilirubin levels in Health ·
When I had to get bloodwork done because of my birth control prescription, they caught an elevated bilirubin level of 40. Since all my other liver enzymes were perfectly normal, my doctor concluded it was just hyperbilirubinemia—or what’s commonly called Gilbert syndrome. Her advice was pretty standard: try to steer clear of fatty foods and alcohol whenever possible, load up on vegetables, and basically just try not to overtax my liver. By the way, she suggested switching from oral pills to contraceptive patches instead.
There isn't any medication for it; I just have to get my bilirubin levels checked every three months.

Here is my dilemma: I am following the guidelines strictly. I avoid heavy fats, and I've almost entirely cut out alcohol. However, if my meal consists of anything other than soup, salad, dry toast, fruit, or a few different types of vegetables, I feel terrible. I don't eat meat at all, and I can't even touch sweets—no cookies, ice cream, or chocolate. Everything else leaves me feeling nauseous, my stomach hurts for hours after eating, and I am constantly bloated. What am I supposed to eat? I simply cannot live on this restricted diet forever.
Hormone testing: Need some help! in Health ·
Because my cycle has been acting up lately, my doctor ordered a full hormonal panel. I just received the results today, but since my follow-up appointment isn't until next week, I find myself wondering if anyone here might be able to make sense of these numbers... It appears there's some sort of imbalance between my estrogen and androgen levels, as one set seems a bit low while the other is running high. A friend suggested that I'll likely be prescribed birth control pills, much like she was after her own tests...

FSH 2______(31 - 134 IU/L)
LH 11______(9 - 75 IU/L)
E2 346_____(389 - 984 pmol/L)
Pg 11,6____(16,2 - 76,3 nmol/L)
PRL 21_____(5 - 30 µg/L)
T 2,5______(0,7 - 2,5 nmol/L)
free T 37,4____(0,19 - 8,9 pmol/L)
DHEA-S 6_____(0,95 - 11,67 µmol/L)
A4 12,2______(2 - 9,25 nmol/L)
SHBG 46_____(20 - 118 nmol/L)

I received the results today, but since my follow-up appointment isn't until next week, I find myself wondering if anyone here might be able to make sense of these numbers... It seems quite clearly to be an imbalance between certain hormones—some are running low while others are elevated—and a friend suggested I'll likely be prescribed some birth control pills, much like she was.

Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I am in urgent need of an exceptional dentist—someone truly top-tier—as I’ve heard rumors that they are quite outstanding. While attending dental school. I was wondering how one actually goes about registering for dental services there, seeing as I don't currently have a dentist in Los Angeles—to be precise, I've never officially been registered with anyone. Does anyone have a recommendation on who to see and why? Also, is it better to go through private practice or stick with the standard insurance coverage provided by the state?
I’ve also heard some positive things regarding the dental clinic over on Main Street, so I’m curious to get some insight into their services as well... thanks.

wiredrider2 said:Hey, you’re reading my mind! Do you happen to know where the new doctor came from? Apparently, she’s young too... since Maria Gregov isn't practicing anymore, I automatically ended up with Dr. Tesanic... It sounds hard to believe, but I managed to snag an appointment for early January! The receptionist was incredibly kind over the phone, so I assume she's the one.

Has anyone actually seen this doctor yet? Also, what’s the deal with the student health center regarding gynecologists? My only reason for signing up there was the hope that getting referrals for lab work would be easier since they have everything on-site... I was hoping I wouldn't have to drive all over town just for blood tests and things like that... or am I mistaken?

My own doctor—who also works at the student clinic—recommended her. She mentioned I shouldn't run into any issues with prescriptions or referrals because Dr. Tesanic isn't stingy with them... She apparently transferred over from Mercy Hospital and is supposedly excellent. A few of my friends see her and are quite happy; you can ask her anything, she isn't rough during exams, and according to my physician, she's highly skilled.
It’s also a major plus that they have a lab right there, so all your results come back quickly... at least that was my experience when I had other tests done... though word is they only accept internal referrals.
As for the actual exam, the nurse, Marina, told me I wouldn't be seen until February... it's honestly exhausting how long the wait times are... which is why I ended up going to a private practice instead. I wouldn't dream of waiting like that if it were anything urgent.

I had an appointment today with Dr. Tihana Mazalin... she is truly wonderful; her explanations were thorough, her bedside manner during the exam was incredibly gentle, and she didn't make me feel rushed at all. We spent about half an hour together, and she answered every single question with such patience. Since this was my first time seeing any gynecologist here, I can't speak for the others, but I was so impressed by her that I'll certainly be returning to her in the future.

Regarding social gynecology, I checked in with Dr. Danke Mirić-Tešanić and happened to meet the famous Nurse Marina... she was absolutely lovely. I mentioned that I wanted to register with them since I haven't had a regular gynecologist until now, and she immediately agreed, handing me the necessary paperwork and directing me toward the insurance office. She noted that I wouldn't be able to expect a full exam until the end of next month, but once I thanked her and explained that I had already completed everything with Dr. Mazalin, she told me I could just come in tomorrow for my referrals and prescriptions. I suppose she was having a particularly good day.

I don't actually have a primary OB-GYN, though I really ought to have one on file just to handle the paperwork—you know, for issuing referrals, prescriptions, and those other administrative headaches. Since I see my specialist privately anyway, I suppose I only need someone to manage the bureaucracy. For this particular situation... I suppose I should mention the Mirić - Tešanić matter, though there isn't much to say that hasn't already been whispered in the hallways. It’s one of those situations where the more you look at the details, the less sense they seem to make, leaving one to wonder if we were all simply looking in the wrong direction to begin with. I've heard nothing but glowing reviews, so I’m curious to know if there’s still availability and what the exact process entails. My doctor is actually at the same university clinic—do I need to get a referral from her, or how does that work?

Honestly, I’ve never actually stepped foot in a gynecologist's office before , so I’m trying to wrap my head around what a typical exam entails. To be specific, I need to see someone because my period situation has become quite a mess—the bleeding is heavy, the cramps are absolutely brutal, and even Spasmex Forte, which I've been relying on, isn't touching the pain anymore; I'm taking it every three hours at this point. My cycles are irregular, usually lagging about two weeks behind, and my last one was three and a half months ago. Then, yesterday, it finally showed up again, but things feel significantly worse. I can barely move from the pain, the medication is useless, and unlike usual, the bleeding isn't heavy—instead, the discharge is this strange brown-black color, which has never happened to me before. So, I'm wondering: what should I expect during this first visit? (By the way, I haven't had any sexual intercourse yet.)

I managed to book an appointment with Dr. Tihana Mazalin over at the Eljuga clinic. Does anyone here happen to know anything about her? Specifically regarding her expertise, how long the appointment usually takes, or the general pricing...

p.s. I don't have socialized gynecological insurance, so I'm looking for recommendations. Ideally, I'd love to find someone where I won't be pressured into extra tests or anything, and who isn't going to be difficult about referrals. Since I'm a college student, does anyone know if there's someone available at the campus health center? I already have a primary doctor there, so that might be easier.

Thanks a lot.....
