FEMA is messing up again. If they’re going to roll out a curfew, they should just lift it at the county level instead of leaving it up to individual towns to figure out on their own. They’re just making things complicated and passing the buck down the chain...

The President of the Presidency of the Republic of America, Ivo Latin

And that particular slacker, currently sitting in the President's chair, gave out that 2012 amnesty—who could possibly guarantee anything at this point?.. though he can still pull strings if he wants.

It isn't about some arbitrary rule; it’s simply the criminal code... everything follows the letter of the law.
And then you appoint righteous people to those positions. Or perhaps use temporary appointments...

It’s funny how the Republican law was repealed and then the Democrats amended it.😁
Jerry Robinson56 said:I suggest everyone follow the letter of the law... it is quite simple enough to just keep a close eye on all mayors and send them straight to prison for their little schemes... along with seizing any assets they failed to report or acquired through illicit means... easy enough, isn't it?

https://www.law.gov/z/132/Local-Self-Government-Act

One simply needs to understand the law, and they certainly held a majority in Congress back then... but then again, an idle man never truly understood the law then, much like he doesn't now... or perhaps he simply refuses to act, which is his defining characteristic.

Daaa, they had a coalition of parties, but with a majority like that, you just have to wipe them out and suddenly you're the minority...😁

And as far as laws go, we actually had an asset origin law once, but the Republican Party scrapped it the second they got their hands on power...

I don't know why, I really don't... just so things can always stay... how do you say... just how they are?

And what's your big idea here? Abolishing a municipality based on some law just because a mayor got caught stealing?😁
steelskipper132 said:Anyway, drug prices have jumped by 40%, which I guess means these little local governments actually serve some purpose—mostly just finding new ways to restrict the movement of goods and people.

Oh, absolutely. Everyone knows the best way to fight drugs is through travel permits and quarantines—basically just shutting down cities... someone should really patent that idea before other countries steal it. I mean, you can't exactly go out there and take on dealers and the underworld with a paper towel. Better to just screw over honest citizens and strip away their freedom of movement instead...😵
Sam Green73 said:But don't forget, you could always go through a national referendum too.

But who’s going to foot the bill for a referendum?
And how would you even pull that off—running a referendum for every single municipality?...
That would be at least 500 separate votes...😁
Jerry Robinson56 said:They are similar in that regard... they could have consolidated everything...
In 2011, they were given full authority by the residents of America—essentially a carte blanche—not because they earned it through merit, but because there was enough political intimidation at the time. The existence of these municipalities is relatively minor compared to the larger issue; there is always a higher institution involved.
As for this three-week delay, 🤦everything can be settled via a quick phone call or an email within an hour or two. How exactly do you expect Washington, D.C. to block that?
The task force isn't interested in politics; they rely on industry experts, unlike the President.

To abolish a municipality, you'd need a two-thirds majority in Congress. That’s how they were created, and that’s the only way they can be dismantled...

The headquarters is one thing, but politics touches everything...

🙂 Bingo.

Some people will attempt to argue that there is no meaningful distinction between the Democratic Party and the opposition, as if they were two sides of the same coin. They are mistaken.

They aren't the same

Because the Republicans were actually the ones who created hundreds of useless local municipalities, like those small towns in the USA or places like Bakar...

The local Democratic Party in a city like Miami has been trying for three weeks to consolidate the surrounding area into a single zone without pass restrictions, but Washington, D.C. won't budge. Even if they did, those small towns wouldn't want it anyway...

But when someone gets sick, they don't head to some tiny local clinic in a small town in USA—because those hospitals obviously don't exist—they go straight to the big city hospital. Meanwhile, the local politicians just line their own pockets... etc...
Edward Fisher86 said:Things have gone completely sideways over at the County Headquarters with that idiot.
I don't have any intention of getting bogged down in the specifics, but I’ve already pointed out how ridiculous it is: they make one sweeping decision from the top to restrict movement immediately, and then suddenly, at the local level, they insist everything has to be voted on as a "merger."

Santa Barbara and Bakar are being a total pain in the neck. Can you believe it? You've got the industrial zone and then down there in Lenac...

They're terrified of being dissolved because they're actually vital.😁

I honestly don't get how you can have a township without an actual city inside it.🤔

I mean, isn't a city supposed to be the foundation that everything else builds around? Like a township...

Santa Barbara isn't a city, yet it's a township.🤔
Wait, how does that even work?
Amanda Hughes37 said:The sheer incompetence and clown show happening over at the County Headquarters is getting ridiculous. I honestly don't have the words for these idiots.
So, this decision pops up allowing movement within municipalities that signed an agreement for a joint headquarters—which makes zero sense to me, because why bother with a joint command if you aren't trying to manage the flow of people? Anyway, following inquiries from Californians and some of our own local towns, they jumped into these agreements. The Californians got their approval within 24 hours. Meanwhile, nobody knows how it works or if we’re supposed to be waiting on a green light from Washington, D.C. People in San Francisco and the surrounding ring are constantly asking about it. It was clearly published back on April 9th in The New York Times stating that travel is permitted without a permit through any municipality that signed the agreement.

If that's the case, our local towns should have just signed immediately—except for places like Newport, which basically broke the communication link between Mošćenički Draga-Opatija🤣... and then you've got Santa Barbara, Bakar, and Monterey refusing to join.
Those who actually want to move are just sitting there waiting and waiting. Apparently, The New York Times and the actual law aren't enough; everything has to be cleared by Washington, D.C. first. And before Washington, you have to send a request to the County Headquarters. We spent days with no clue where the bottleneck was, only for the County Headquarters to announce yesterday that these agreements have to be voted on by municipal councils before they can even be considered!!

Now, the Chief has issued a public letter claiming that nowhere in the law does it say that.
There is no permit.

It’s obvious the County Headquarters is playing God—dragging its feet on lifting the permits in the San Francisco ring and between Matulj and Palm Beach for whatever reason they choose.

Absolutely unbelievable.

I almost had to write this down as a homework assignment...🙏🙏🙏

They won't let the communists unite.😁
fadedranger162 said:So, what, you think you personally know all 780,000 of your fellow citizens well enough to pinpoint exactly who infected you? Was it that guy from Brooklyn, the dude downtown, or someone from a neighborhood halfway across a city that's twice the size of Maui?

And look at those people in the procession—they were following all the protocols, just like you claim the walkers are doing. They didn't even have any active cases on the island, and they’ve basically been in quarantine there for three weeks anyway.

This whole restriction is totally unnecessary. We already saw after that massive exodus from Washington, D.C. during the earthquake that we didn't see a spike in infections at all. People who didn't need to travel weren't traveling before, and now they’ve just made life needlessly complicated on top of an already shitty situation.

The truth is, they only pulled this stunt because they were too incompetent to manage the 10,000 people in self-isolation. I mean, if we have three or four times more cops than that, they could have easily organized shifts to handle them. They were even more useless after the earthquake—where was FEMA or the police that morning to direct people to safe zones, calm things down, and stop everyone from fleeing like crazy? They were just as clueless when these permits first rolled out, where anyone could practically grab one if they played nice with the local sheriff.

It’s easy for you to sit there and talk trash about how great this rule is, just like the people who implemented it. They act like everything revolves around Washington, D.C., as if the rest of the country doesn't even exist. If they actually wanted to track movement, they could have just required a temporary check-in with local headquarters whenever you travel, and then slapped you with a fine if you got caught without reporting it.

Because as it stands, it's absolute insanity. You've got Grandma Mary who can't even walk a mile to the grocery store because it's technically in a different municipality, forcing her to trek all the way to the other side of her own county 3.5 miles, maybe even a pricier shop. Meanwhile, let's say Mark is infected but has no clue, and he can stroll into any Walmart in the D.C. area and cough all over the shelves while thousands of people pass by.

I totally agree. Incompetent through and through.
As soon as the virus hit nursing homes, we lost track of patient zero...
Jerry Robinson56 said:You're making assumptions about Washington, D.C., yet I traverse this city in all directions multiple times almost every day. And frankly, nearly everyone adheres to the rules...
Let me reiterate: the raw number is irrelevant! For heaven's sake, understand this once: if an infection occurs, you will at least know who was standing near you. It isn't like some stranger from deep within D.C. or someone from Maui. That is the crux of the matter. In your own community, you actually recognize the people around you; elsewhere, you don't.

All of that goes out the window the moment you step into a subway station or walk past a skyscraper.
Look, in this entire city, millions of people have been walking all over the place for a month now... and you're telling me there are only 520 cases? That's an outbreak right there.
How exactly is the Democratic Party an accelerator and an innovator?

Because the Republican Party is the one responsible for the way our cities and towns are divided up today.
Look, most—if not all—of these tiny towns were actually carved out by the Republicans. In a way, they serve as little strongholds for their power and their voter base

Now, here’s a little trivia question for you

Why on earth would the GOP prune the very branches they're sitting on by destroying the small towns they built themselves?

When everything starts moving this fast and so spontaneously... 😁
They just released the numbers. About 900,000 passes issued and 34,000 rejected...
Today the papers are all over this, claiming everything is basically unconstitutional. Apparently, the state legislature needs to vote on it, but they finally realized—after twenty-some days—that we might actually want to follow the law since it’s already on the books... 🙂 They say it'll move forward through some emergency procedure, though I have no clue when. We've got Easter coming up, then Memorial Day... we'll probably see something by June 🙂
