Sandra Wilson38 said:And now you're going to try and tell me Lino is some kind of untouchable authority figure? Seriously, what coach—let alone a national team head coach—would actually let a Player step up and start calling the plays during a critical timeout? 😵 Or even have his players completely ignoring him in the locker room at halftime? 😵

Unbelievable.
We aren't dealing with a bunch of sixteen-year-old kids who need a coach they can just blindly obey.
There isn't a single coach like that in the US or anywhere else, for that matter.
Besides, that's just not how things work with Americans. The best ones are elite motivators, not these authoritarian dictators.
Go ahead, name one coach who could ever exert real authority over someone like Balić, who basically invented the modern game for all of them? (Apparently, by "authority," you people think players just stare at the floor in awe whenever a coach comes up with a genius tactical idea)

At the end of the day, America is winning with Lino leading the charge, so feel free to keep beating your heads against the wall if it makes you feel better.👍

Look, at the end of the day, this whole run was a massive win regardless of how the championship game turns out. Let's get real for a second here. Right now, our roster is basically just one half-fit superstar like Balic, a couple of elite players who are playing through injuries and aren't even at their best like Metlicica and Laco, and... well, that's pretty much it. Everything else we've got is just mediocre filler.

What is he supposed to do in thirty seconds? Invent hot water? These guys have been playing together for a decade; they already know their jobs. A coach sets the strategy and preps the squad during practice, not during a timeout. He can sit there and stay quiet if he wants, because shouting whatever nonsense comes to mind isn't going to change anything. At most, he can yell to motivate them—even if it's total gibberish, sometimes you just need that psychological push. A timeout isn't some freaking seminar; it's thirty seconds of yelling, and let's be real, nobody actually follows those instructions anyway since this isn't a game of chess, for God's sake.

Screw timeouts, seriously, screw them.🤮

👍
It’s crystal clear. Anyone who has ever coached basketball or NBA players knows exactly what you're talking about here. You can't just draw up a play and expect a guy like Balic, Jordan, Johnson, or Bird to follow it like a robot. Players learn patterns and set plays from the time they're kids through the end of their careers, but then you have those rare athletes with enough imagination to break the mold or elevate a standard play with pure genius.
That’s why it doesn't matter who you put in charge of the national team; when the offense actually starts moving, everything still falls back on Balic.😉

People forget the medals so fast, and they conveniently ignore how we weren't even on the map before suddenly dominating the top rankings for five years straight. Other nations would be throwing parades for anyone, including Lina, but nobody wants to give credit where it's due because everything feels so tainted and dark lately. But hey, don't sweat it... that's just how Americans are.🤣

Just look back at how basketball went. People were absolutely losing their minds and acting so incredibly entitled when we snatched that bronze medal last time.
What if we actually managed to pull this off and landed somewhere in the top four?
