Bipolar disorder ran in my family.
My grandfather spent his entire life fighting it. I’ve spent a lot of time digging into the subject; I actually wrote my high school senior thesis on manic depression and bipolar disorder back in the day.
The bottom line is that staying consistent with prescribed medication is everything. My grandfather wouldn't do it, though. He had the most severe form of manic depression and refused to take his meds, hiding them whenever he could. By the time he hit his late forties, he was spending most of his time in a locked psychiatric ward. That’s where he passed away last year. 😢 His body just couldn't keep up with the constant fluctuations anymore, especially since his heart started failing him during those final years.
There’s also this state called euthymia, which is the period between manic and depressive episodes where things feel relatively stable, but for my grandfather, those "calm" phases pretty much vanished toward the end. He was either crashing or spinning out. I should point out—and I have zero patience for people who just dismiss these cases as people being "crazy"—that everyone experiences bipolar disorder differently, and people can live perfectly productive lives if they stay on top of their treatment. I don't know what specific medications your brother is on, but I remember my grandfather was taking lithium while he was hospitalized to help stabilize his moods. You can find a mountain of information online about this... here is a resource from an American site.

I’ve noticed my boyfriend constantly twitching his legs in the morning right before he actually wakes up. I make fun of him for it all the time, but I can see the poor guy really can't help himself. 🤷 I’d say it might even be happening on some subconscious level...

Right after that dog bit me, I headed straight to the Emergency Room, where they took care of me immediately and got my tetanus shot sorted out...

Nancy Garcia29 said:I went through this exact thing about two years ago, and I didn't even touch any medication; it just finally passed after about ten days of pure misery. You won't deal with anything this heavy again since this was your primary infection, though the virus stays dormant in your system, so you might see some blisters on your lips from time to time, but without the fever or the gum inflammation. For me, it flares up roughly every couple of months. 😢
It’s actually pretty standard for your body temperature to run a little higher in the evening than it does in the morning, so it's not unusual to see it creep slightly above 98.6.

Yeah, that's what they told me too—that it wouldn't hit me this hard ever again. I'm finally feeling human again, but it took a solid sixteen days to actually recover...😲

Anyways, if I remember correctly, Gingivostomatitis is caused by Herplex. It’s a miserable way to live.

Look, speaking as a dentist, my advice is to get to an Emergency appointment at a university dental school—specifically their Oral Medicine department—so they can take over. You need specialists who deal with this exact kind of mess every single day and focus exclusively on oral pathologies.

Good luck.

Thanks so much!!!!!

I’ve been scrolling through the forum for a bit and couldn't find this specific thread, so feel free to move my post if I'm out of place.
Basically, I've been fighting this nasty virus for two weeks now, and honestly, I had never even heard of it before the doctors at the CDC gave me the diagnosis, which left me completely stunned.
The culprit behind Gingivostomatitis is Herpes Simplex virus 1, and you're looking at symptoms like fevers, labial herpes, mouth blisters, sore throat, bad breath, and swollen lymph nodes...
It all kicked off with a herpes outbreak on my lips—something I've never dealt with before—followed by a brutal sore throat and a fever hitting around 100.4. My lymph nodes in my neck swelled up, so my GP sent me over to the CDC. That's where they diagnosed me with Gingivostomatitis herpetica, an illness that usually hits infants but can definitely strike adults too. They didn't even give me actual medication at first, just told me to manage the fever with Tylenol. Two days later, nothing had changed; the fever stayed high, the herpes spread across my entire mouth until I could barely move my tongue from the pain, and my neck nodes were agonizing... so I went back to the CDC. This time they put me on Herplex tablets for five days. Once I finished the course, the sores finally started receding, and today they're almost gone, my throat doesn't hurt, and I can actually talk again, though my gums are still swollen and I'm stuck with a constant temperature of 99 degrees, which worries me since it's been two weeks of running a low-grade fever. (When I asked the staff at the hospital about the temperature, they brushed it off saying it was normal because of the herpes, but this feels like it's dragging on way too long)
During the day it sits around 97.7 to 98, but by the evening it climbs back up to 99.
Has anyone else here dealt with this virus?
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
I went through the exact same thing while I was on those Estary birth control pills, where I ended up dealing with two periods in a single thirty-day window.
After that mess, I decided to take a break from them based on what my gynecologist suggested, and everything settled back down to normal after that...
I always feel a bit awkward, even though I’m seeing an OB-GYN I actually trust...
I don't know, just the whole idea of someone poking around down there isn't exactly my idea of a good time.😉

If I’d actually had the chance to catch that Nirvana show... 🙂
Yeah, honestly... if you're actually immersed in the music and the vibe, you don't even have the bandwidth to care about the people standing around with their hands in their pockets.
I just do my own thing, listen to what I want, and frankly, I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. You’re never going to find a band that everyone universally loves anyway, and half the crowd probably only bought tickets to see one specific act.
Not every lineup appeals to me either, which is exactly why I only bother showing up for the performers who actually interest me...
Gregory Harris8 said:Honestly, why should you even care whether someone’s just standing there with their hands in their pockets, chatting with friends, sipping a beer, or losing their mind in the front row? There’s always been a decent number of people doing exactly that compared to those actually dancing, so you shouldn't feel like some outsider just because you wanted to unwind and listen to the music. I realize this is an online forum where everyone feels entitled to vent their insecurities and talk trash without being challenged, but some people really take it too far. I mean, back when Moby, Foo Fighters, or Yee were playing, did those ten people hanging out in the back with a drink really bother the ten thousand people who were actually going wild? And this whole idea that 70% of the crowd showed up just because there was nothing else happening in town is frankly retarded. If you didn't know, tickets on the day of the show were $183—who has that kind of money just to wander around and see what's happening? While looking at all these stories about idiots throwing wristbands at the stage, you might think a random mob just stumbled upon this festival, but I think very few people, if anyone, ended up here by accident, since even the cheapest ticket at $83 is a bit much for our standards, especially during a period like this that we could call a crisis.

Even the outdoor stages could only run until midnight, though they moved it to 1 AM later, so the complaints about the late start were basically impossible to justify. That isn't the fault of the organizers, but rather certain people who don't want loud music to ruin the sleep of retirees. On the first day, Dorfmeister put on a solid party, even if it's not my style, and the tent was packed, lasting until shortly after 2 AM, so nobody should have any grounds for complaining.

I SECOND THIS!! 👍👍👍👍

Someone mentioned that Coachella is a soul-less affair on par with those wine festivals out in Jackson... and I honestly have to agree. Look, I’m not some anti-capitalist leftist, and frankly, I don't care who's cutting the checks as long as the music is actually good. But I can't shake the feeling that this festival was thrown together as a quick response to Lollapalooza, aiming for big names but lacking any real musical identity—just booking whatever is trending with kids or whatever massive corporation happens to be touring nearby and willing to sponsor. It shows in the crowd, which is a complete mess of people who don't belong together—you've got hippies from philosophy classes, club kids wandering over from the downtown scene, indie geeks, football hooligans... then there are parents with kids, lost metalheads, questionable ravers, even Damien Chazelle showing up... but the bulk of them are just mainstream types with zero specific taste who heard something was happening in town and decided to come instead of hitting AMC Theatres. You end up with a crowd where 70% of people are just standing around with a beer, staring blankly at the stage. Plus, if you consider that acts like Outsider Art, Editors, Lily Allen, Tricky, or even Kraftwerk aren't really "festival music" for an outdoor daytime set—they're more suited for The Fillmore or a smaller venue—it's no wonder the vibe was so dead. I’d swap that lineup for someone like Flogging Molly, Limp Bizkit, or Slipknot, who were recently in the States... or maybe Motörhead. Something that actually wakes a crowd up instead of putting them to sleep. I'd also push the schedule back two hours because there's no sense wasting money on bands playing to 150 hungover people under a scorching sun. And since everything wraps up by midnight, you're left choosing between going home or squeezing into some crowded, sweltering tent to watch nobodies. Most choose home and they're passed out by 2 AM. Instead of that metal stage, which felt totally out of place and half-empty, they should have had a clubbing stage that kicks off after the main sets finish, keeping the party going until morning. To me, it feels like a commercial, sterile festival with a lukewarm audience that failed to produce a single highlight over 40 acts in two days. Sure, the Foo Fighters and Kraftwerk were fine, and we didn't have to wait forever for anything, but it just wasn't *it*. It lacked that spontaneous madness, that atmosphere. This could be so much better. 5/10.

Look, first off, the festival was definitely an improvement over last year. 🙏
The point is, they were trying to cater to all kinds of different musical tastes, which is why they had more stages, including the metal one.
What's wrong with having a diverse crowd? 🤷
And let's face it, the American public is what it is; I stopped expecting anything else a long time ago.
As for the comments about "questionable sexual orientations"... fine, I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.

If I were standing there on that stage, I would have just gotten up and walked off.

Honestly, some people are just total hillbillies. 👎

Anyway... absolute LEGEND 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’m still reeling from seeing Moby... I honestly don't even have the words for it...
it was absolutely flawless.
