It’s a good thing a person doesn't let others make them blush. You can't choose who you end up rooting alongside; you just have to hope your corner has fewer "toxic" types.

Yeah, Mercedes handled the tactics well today. They kept pace with Ferrari. Bottas was business as usual. It would have been even more intense if the rain had started falling while they were waiting for Lewis to pit.
But despite the criticisms floating around here, I don't see any major blunders from Ferrari.
Kimi's pit stop was fine. You can tell because the order stayed intact. Lewis actually had the chance to pit right after Kimi. Still, what Mercedes did made sense.

As for Vettel? I'll check the replays later, but I think Kimi is the main factor. He had a poor start. Vettel was faster, but he couldn't find a way past—it just wasn't enough time. Then Kimi slowed him down again, which led to the incident. I don't see any specific driving errors. Once an incident like that happens, damage control becomes nearly impossible.

Another disappointment for Ferrari.
I guess the only thing bigger than this is how much people are overreacting here.

In my view, Ferrari's only real mistake was falling for that trap at the chicane. It turns out expecting those hard tires to last until the end was asking too much.

Regarding Vettel, I’ll just repeat what I said before the race: he really should have just focused on Luja, and everything else likely would have fallen into place. Vettel messed up entering the chicane (Lesmo, I think?) for the exact reason I mentioned. He needed a little help from Rajko and Luju-hebiga.

Take a look and decide for yourself.

I don't think Vettel deserves the championship right now. Sure, if he’d made a mistake back in Germany, maybe, but a mature, seasoned driver shouldn't be making errors like this.

He isn't driving with his head; he's just driving on pure emotion, almost like he's in his first or second season. Lewis Hamilton had a rough start to the year, but in the second half, he's clearly become a much more complete driver than Vettel...
No matter how great Vettel was last season, it's obvious he's struggling mentally, and you don't win titles driving like this.
During the race, I expected Hamilton to overtake Kimi, since Kimi's pace usually trails behind Hamilton and Vettel, though I still feel for Kimi since he couldn't even grab a single win.

I really hope Leclerc joins Ferrari next year.

Signed. I'm against most people here, but you can't be against everyone, man.

Mercedes-Benz executed their strategy almost perfectly. The only thing they missed was telling Valtteri Bottas to stop chasing that young Dutchman; he was going to finish third regardless. By pushing so hard, Bottas actually helped Sebastian Vettel close the gap by another two points. But looking at that young kid—he’s never going to be a champion if he keeps thinking like that.

What good is all that talent if you can't keep your cool?
Sebastian Vettel is going to make a mistake if he keeps obsessing over Ray. His focus needs to stay entirely on Louie; let Ferkan handle the rest of the wall.
nimblesurfer17 said:Rick moved over to Ford because it’s obvious he wouldn't get the same treatment they give Max at Red Bull. Max is clearly their number one priority for plenty of reasons.
If he knew he'd actually have equal footing and status, he would have stayed.
As things stood, there was simply no logical reason to stick around.

Signed.

It doesn't mean he's faster than Max, but he is definitely more consistent.

Personally, I’m fine because I don't root for any of the leaders, so I can just enjoy the show regardless of the outcome. 😁 But I agree with what was said because that's what I'm expecting too. Ferrari seems slightly better and more consistent from weekend to weekend (though hopefully that guy complaining above stops acting like there isn't a race every single weekend 🙄).

If Sebastian Vettel hadn't made those mistakes in Baku and during those blunders in Germany, he could have had a comfortable lead by now. But this way, things feel more intense and interesting. 😬 It’s been a great season so far, even if it is mostly just a battle between two drivers and two teams.

It’s funny how some people fly off the handle claiming Louie isn't at his usual level since the start of the season (which I agree with), yet they fail to see that Sebastian is also performing incredibly well. Instead of sitting on a solid 40-point lead, he seems to be trying to invent excuses about his car being barely competitive against Mercedes—or even worse—just to justify his protégé. Honestly, the blindness is frustrating, and it seems to affect even those who are biased toward Louie.

You get some decent constructive takes and some jokes here and there, but some people are just out to tear him down for no reason.
crimsonhawk23 said:Try learning how to read. And maybe pick up some manners too, because putting words in someone else's mouth isn't polite. Where did you see me say anyone closes the DRS before braking? You're imagining things. Since reading seems to be such a struggle for you, let me help you out:

Unless you're colorblind (which wouldn't surprise me), you'll notice I actually mentioned braking there—I even specified the distance. But fine, keep trolling and being difficult. At least it's something you're good at, since reading clearly isn't.

What an idiot. 😵 All I said was that once they lift the restrictions, whoever wants to use it should be able to, based on what the drivers can actually handle. Yet this troll latches onto something I didn't even mention regarding closing it during braking. 🤣 It’s obvious some people just don't get that there's a massive difference between approaching a corner with the DRS open versus having it closed like it is everywhere outside the zones right now. 🤦

Just so everyone knows, I actually got a warning just for trying to explain to this guy that life isn't always meant to be taken so literally. He's one of those people who takes everything at face value, which apparently rubbed a lot of people on this forum the wrong way.

I suggested he might benefit from using a little imagination—both for his own sake and for others. After a few pointless replies, I realized he just doesn't have any, and clearly, the community didn't appreciate me pointing that out.

Anyway, back to the topic. As I mentioned in another post that a mod also deleted: Sebastian Vettel at Monza is taking the win, and the championship too.

James Harris34 said:You shouldn't take everything Lewis Hamilton and the rest of the crew say at face value. I remember last year how he was claiming before Australia that Ferrari looked pretty solid, maybe even better than them—and it turned out he was right. Now he's saying the same thing about Red Bull, which might also be spot on. But regarding Ferrari, last year you could really feel after testing and heading into Australia that they had done an amazing job, whereas this year, based on what people are saying, I'm just not feeling it. I'm honestly worried they might end up being the third-best team in Melbourne...

It strikes me as strange how people sometimes claim to weigh all the facts, yet other times they just pick and choose whatever fits their narrative.

swiftmaker12 said:Motorsport.com actually has a solid breakdown explaining how Rosberg messed up—it was his own behavior that caused the collision.
He forgot to switch to the Start mode at the beginning, so by the third turn, he's frantically messing with the steering wheel because he’s missing about 11 miles extra horsepower. He was trailing Lewis by quite a bit, and once he realized Lewis was going to overtake him, he just blocked his line.

Just my initial take—some people think Lewis is the one at fault, but if you actually look at the telemetry and the data, it's clear Nico was the one reacting in a total panic.

Not that I have anything against either of them, though. Nico finally showed some grit and gave Lewis a taste of his own medicine after everything Lewis put him through over the last two years.

Honestly, it wouldn't hurt the current Formula 1 season if these two clashed a bit more often—it makes things much more entertaining for the fans.

Especially since, seeing how they performed in Austin, it looks like Germany is operating on a completely different planet this year.
By the third turn, both German cars were practically a mile ahead of the rest of the field.

The info about the frantic button-pressing caught my attention right away. After reading the beginning of your post, it doesn't seem crazy to think Rosberg discovered some trick for a better start that he had to fix immediately.

It would be pretty interesting if someone from the community could post a photo or something showing what the cockpit setup looked like in Rosberg's car during the starts of previous races.
Patrick Bailey4 said:Honestly, it’s the exact same amount he earned despite the puncture. I genuinely can't follow your logic here. Either that, or you're just trolling at full capacity.

Even if it is trolling, it feels like a bit much.🤦
Patrick Bailey4 said:Wait, what do you mean he dropped out? What are you talking about? Just take a quick look at the official race results. You've posted so many nonsensical comments here that I'm honestly not surprised you didn't actually watch the race properly 🙏

He didn't lose any points, and attacking Vettel could have only helped his case.
Constant ranting can be hard to read sometimes. 😵
The qualifying results weren't particularly interesting, to be honest.
Maybe the answer lies in tomorrow's weather forecast for Barcelona? If anyone feels like posting it here, that would be great.
