It isn't really about being selective with the rules or anything like that, it’s more just a matter of how the moderators judge what might actually be harmful to the community, even if this particular chat thread is usually treated with a bit more leniency than most...
If you didn't have any clones to begin with, then the whole question just becomes a bit pointless, which makes the answer pretty much unnecessary...

It’s just not quite the same thing, really... when we dive into nostalgia, we're mostly just reminiscing about everything tied to those different eras from way back when, whereas this thread is more about keeping up with the current departures of all these football legends

I’m just saying, this guy wrote that he feels like a lightning rod for everyone else—he didn't say he was some troll, he just said he feels like he’s getting on people's nerves even though he hasn't actually done anything wrong yet... he didn't list any specific rules he broke, he just mentioned that he's bothering folks, which is like saying a fan of the Los Angeles Angels is annoying a bunch of Dodgers fans and therefore needs to be banned immediately just because they're irritating them.
And honestly, I don't give a damn if he's annoying people, just bring the guy back before things go too far and maybe we can have the moderators look into why they did this in the first place, because waiting until he actually breaks a rule to kick him out seems a bit much...

Look, the guy is constantly trolling whenever US Soccer comes up, it's not about "annoying" some group of die-hard fans, he's actively trolling the US Soccer threads (!)... seriously, if you don't know the history here, please just don't comment.
So, basically, we tolerated him for an entire year, we gave him advice, he apologized a bunch of times, we forgave him over and over, but he just wouldn't listen...
