I don't have any issues here, so tone it down if you want to have a civil conversation.

Was this one of those points you kept pushing, or are you just okay settling for the "we'll do it this way now, but change later" excuse?
How can you even participate in a group when you're fundamentally against how they're being funded? If you think money coming from club marketing is somehow "dirty," then what kind of logic are you using to justify using those exact same funds to pay for banners and choreographies?

Things happen when they happen. You don't know everything right out of the gate, and frankly, most of it isn't even your business.
As for that "we'll do it this way now, but change later" nonsense—give me a break. The contract terms simply don't allow for anything else!

And for that matter, am I even an ultra?

Don't get ahead of yourself with these claims. You've completely lost the thread of this debate, and frankly, I'm still waiting for actual answers to my specific questions.

Look, kid, you just said the whole thing followed a path of least resistance.
Are you messing with me, or are you actually losing it?

Go ahead then—quote those "unanswered" questions for me.🙂

Brandon Wilson14 said:Look, you’re totally missing the point here. 🤦🤦 You need to look at which other clubs in the neighborhood are currently struggling just to move gear around the stands, how those teams ended up, and what that looks like in practice—no matter how much people suck up to their recent seasons (quoting: "among the top 5 in Europe"). It's funny how they love to distance themselves from those exact same issues by acting like they're all about agents, mobsters, and armored cars... basically, do you really want us to follow that same script?
Let’s be clear: the willingness to help or donate isn't the issue. It's the execution. Look at how Sampdoria handled things at home—the flag drives, the online marketing for the campaign, and the way it was managed.
I don't see any reason why we can't just keep doing things that way; anyone capable can step up.
The only real bottleneck is if nobody steps up to run it. 🤷

It’s not the system that’s broken; it’s the people. Anything is possible if you actually want it, but since people aren't stepping up, things end up messy. That’s a much larger conversation, though.
If we lack the competence or the integrity to pull this off, then we don't deserve to put on any massive displays anyway.
I honestly don't get why everyone seems so satisfied with lying to themselves.

wearyraven25 said:The state of marketing is exactly what you'd expect. We all know why—everyone just takes the path of least resistance. We’re all to blame here.

It’s what you call being caught between a rock and a hard place.
Consistency shows up right at the starting line—right now—especially when it comes to sticking to certain ideals.
If you blow them off now, how can you expect the people you need to lead to actually have your back down the road?
Let’s go with donation boxes, crowdfunding, or just pooling some cash from the group—that way we can say we did it with a clean conscience, right?
Then your word will actually carry some weight in the future.

Look, you weren't exactly consistent when it came to being a die-hard fan. Or maybe you're just one of those "ultras" who knows exactly how to fold under pressure and play both sides?

Don't sweat it. 😉

Jeffrey Anderson said:Look, do you honestly think the people doing this are getting any personal kick out of it? That’s like saying a rocket earns a profit from the graphite it uses. It's just nonsense.

Hey, watch your mouth on here—you're going to start racking up strikes, and then you'll see what happens. 🙄

It's pretty obvious you don't know what you're talking about, so I'm not even going to bother...

wearyraven25 said:The real question is who you’re trying to deceive, and why? At the end of the day, you're just lying to yourself.
If you can't stomach how a group is being funded, how can you justify being part of it? If you actually believe the money coming in through club marketing is somehow "dirty," then what kind of person are you, using those exact funds to pay for banners and choreographies?

Let’s be real here: there’s nothing wrong with making a T-shirt and turning a quick profit on it, but man, look at where we actually stand right now.

It bothers me, so I’m pushing back against it—just like everyone else who feels the same way. Whether we stay true to our principles in the long run remains to be seen.😉

wearyraven25 said:Maybe consider what kind of materials you’re actually working with and how this is even being funded before you start acting like you have all the answers.

Rommel made a good point—there isn't a more honest way to fund this right now. I mean, sure, we could set up donation buckets in the stands, but if that's our only source of income, we wouldn't even have enough to grab a beer at a local dive bar...
Don't push me on the rest of it.

And why shouldn't we put donation buckets in the stands? I won't even get into what that extra cash would mean for everyone during a game, let alone anything else. But hey, I guess that's just "how things are done" here, right?
Why? Because realistically, there aren't even 200 hardcore fans in the entire scene.
So who are you lying to and deceiving, and for what? Just some pathetic ego trip?

Draw a parallel to the sex industry. If your own kid was in that business, would you call that "the right way" to do things?

neonhawk15 said:How exactly do you think we’re supposed to fund the choreo, the banners, the flag materials, the buses, the flights, or the travel? Good intentions won't pay the bills. Everything has a price tag. If you don't think marketing and membership dues should be a core part of a supporter group's budget, then you clearly think we can just conjure all of that out of thin air. 🤷

I thought you’d be the smart one. 🤷

I don't know how much you actually know about the situation, but if you do, then I honestly don't know what else there is to say.
It seems like you think being a Chicago Bulls fan is a full-time job, whereas for me... This is it. 😉

In marketing terms, a product is actually considered a failure if you can only move a thousand units a day.☕

John Brown30 said:Look, I'm the one struggling here, yet you guys are crying over some hats and shirts that apparently magically brainwash people the moment they put them on.🙄

My take? None of you have ever actually tried to create those "perfect products" you all obsess over. You love to talk trash about someone else's work, or if they actually make something and it doesn't hit the mark with the masses, suddenly it's just "people don't get it." You act like you're experts, but you can't even back up your claims.🤷

It’s not about the hat or the shirt. If you have a solid foundation, everything else falls into place.
To be specific regarding the current merch: it's the way it is because it's designed for mass appeal—which is exactly what you'd expect when you aren't designing exclusively for the hardcore fan base.

In my view, Marketing exists solely to fund the club. We can push those extreme agendas ourselves—it’s not like we haven't bypassed official Marketing before to push content that wasn't meant for the general public. 🙂
If you actually have the will, anything is possible. The issue is that everyone here is stuck because your little pet projects don't have official backing. Just make something legit, and it’ll succeed if you believe in it. 😁

What do you mean by "funding the club"? Are we talking about driving up the stock price for Black Knights Inc. on the NYSE?
Using demagoguery like "that's how it's always been, so it can be now" just makes you look mentally stunted.

These aren't anyone's "pet projects"; these are moves made for the greater good. You just can't see that because you're too blinded by your own selfish interests.

Cheers!
Rangers Supporters Club in Fans ·
Seeing this kind of Marketing is an absolute disgrace. Just using the word MARKETING within supporter circles is embarrassing enough.
There are people out there who care about the Black Knights a little less than they care about the logo on a t-shirt or the profit margins from selling them.
Maybe one day people will actually grasp the true essence of a supporter movement, or maybe the greed for cash will just end up drowning out everything that actually matters.

Keep the fans in your hearts, not just on your social media feeds!

placidheron16 said:Honestly, every time we have a meeting, it just results in the same old group of hooligans popping up on the forums or in person. Let me tell you how this actually works. I’ve had enough. This younger generation leading the stands now—they don't want to push the kids forward. Kids are a blessing, but you have to know who is paying the bills. You have to be firm with them. From a young age, they need to learn what it means to live the supporter lifestyle, rather than just letting them drift or letting some other guy boss them around lately. Legend, looking at those photos of you, our young guys aren't looking at anyone the wrong way; if anything, we are hungry for friendship and unity among us. But how can that happen when the "legendary leader" pledges support in front of 100 people at the last meeting, promising to stand with us in the stands, only to show up to the game and mock us? He sits there making jokes along with his "loyal followers," claiming it's too hard for him to come to the stands because the emotions will overwhelm him. He acts like he's saying goodbye to a lifelong friend. We expected so much from him because he's considered a "cult figure." Once his people give their support, then everyone else will follow and we will finally become "US." We won't have this "us vs. them" mentality that keeps repeating. Once individual egos are minimized and the ego trips die down, then we can actually start over... but those are just two small details in this whole circus.

Amen!!!
And can someone please explain to me how anyone can find the will to communicate with people who think the Black Knights are Barbra Streisand? It’s not because I or anyone else is brainwashed or because it's some forced opinion. No, it's simply because common sense dictates it.
To everyone who thinks everything happening here is the result of some forced narrative: you need to learn how to distinguish between personal interest and the common good. The first requirement for a constructive discussion is using your own brain and thinking for yourself. Don't let others put words in your mouth; be the architect of your own thoughts, even if you end up being 200% wrong.
