Please refrain from mocking Christianity 🙂

We have been left completely disenfranchised 🙂

We’d honestly prefer if he were still around on the eighth day too. 😂

And I totally agree with what you said, because things are just spiraling out of control since the topics are getting wider and wider, and they aren't even qualified to handle all these different sectors anymore, plus they're basically asking for it since Capak keeps trying to answer questions that aren't even his business.

At this point, they either need to bring in actual experts from other fields to bolster the task force, or they really need to stop putting the entire spotlight on them, because there is zero sense in having Alemka explaining how hotel pools are going to be used in the summer (to use a metaphor), or having Capak weigh in on whether people can try products in grocery stores (and I'm not even joking 🤦).

It would be the logical move.

But then again, as we enter this broader, more routine phase, all the underlying issues—from sheer incompetence to blatant nepotism and disastrous communication—will inevitably begin to surface.

If I were calling the shots, I’d start by eliminating these constant daily announcements and instead pivot toward comprehensive, written guidelines designed to cover every predictable scenario. This should include clear triggers for when lockdowns might be reinstated, allowing people to actually decide if it's worth reopening their businesses if everything is just going to shut down again the moment fifty people fall ill.

I’m not entirely sure if you’re taking a swipe at me. If you are, let it be noted for the record that my opinion is that things are only getting progressively worse as time marches on. It seems to me that while the healthcare aspect was handled quite well, everything else has become such a chaotic mess that "colorful" doesn't even begin to describe it.

All this ambiguity, the sheer lack of logic, and the constant contradictions—it's enough to drive people mad, and there's just more of it every single day.

Regarding masks and how the world handled things, there certainly wasn't a universal consensus, though the mockery was undoubtedly fueled by the simple fact that people just couldn't get their hands on them. On one hand, I see where they were coming from, but on the other, I find it hard to wrap my head around how we haven't managed to scale up mass production by now.

That is to say, I suppose it’s just the typical, predictable incompetence you'd expect from an GOP supporter.

In Sweden, they probably have fewer hospital beds because they just fold them up into armchairs when they aren't being used. Why don't they just give us the actual count of those medical recliners instead? ☕

Where exactly did I say that I was equally concerned?

And I'm still sitting here wondering why they set it at 14%, haha. ☕

Yes. It’s actually an excerpt from an epic sequence where he dies on the couch—around 2014, if I recall correctly.

So, I’m reading now that these tests in New York were conducted on people caught out while shopping at various stores. That probably doesn't constitute a truly representative sample, assuming that in this kind of situation, it isn't everyone hitting the shops equally, but rather mostly the younger and healthier crowd.

Widely available testing, masks being accessible to everyone, face shields for those stuck in close contact with others all day, and established patterns of cautious behavior—these three factors are the only real gamechangers we have before a vaccine or an effective treatment comes along, though it takes time to get everything in place. And one has to maintain order and control. To me, it seems so crystal clear and logical that I honestly can't imagine what the alternative would be for the vast majority of society.

Honestly, I don't have a strong preference either way. It seems to me that the strategies most countries are adopting right now are likely the ones designed to inflict the least amount of long-term damage on both sides.

I’m genuinely struggling to wrap my head around how people think the "economy" would actually function over the next year or two in an alternate reality where Italy somehow adopts the Swedish model.

urbanhawk17 said:If it mutates into something deadlier, then we go into total lockdown.

Like I said before, what we're doing right now is the worst way to handle this.

If something more lethal comes along, are you still pushing for this current approach? Just stay home, but if you absolutely have to go somewhere, then just go.

But when exactly would we know? How much time would pass before we realize it has mutated for the worse? How many people could get infected in that interim, and what would the true cost of such a gamble be? Would you really feel comfortable signing off on that decision in front of the entire nation, especially when it goes against everything the epidemiologists are advising?

It’s honestly incredible how much people can ignore what's right in front of them. Everyone acted like they were blindsided, as if they didn't see it coming. When I mentioned that the number of infections was significantly higher than reported, it was met with such disbelief—but really, no shit, Sherlock? We also seem to have developed a collective case of amnesia regarding my previous predictions that the numbers would actually be five, ten, or even a hundred times higher than what we were seeing.

It feels like there isn’t a single WhatsApp group in existence that doesn't contain at least one person who seemingly woke up this morning suddenly convinced that everyone else has lost their minds over some little virus. They walk around with this quiet certainty that if they had been at the helm from the very beginning, they would have handled the whole situation with much more grace and competence than anyone else. 🙏

And so it goes—everything is already settled, and that’s really all there is to say. 🙏

Sure, if that's what keeps you up at night, you kids from the third world 🤣

It’s preventable, much like any other death caused by famine. No one in this world should have to die from hunger. The simple fact that people are dying just proves that most people couldn't care less about anything happening outside their own immediate surroundings. It's a grim reality.

I don't possess a crystal ball, but I find myself wondering what kind of impact your proposed solutions would actually have on the global economy. Not everyone possesses the same level of discipline, living standards, or access to healthcare as they do in Sweden.

If I were forced to speculate, we would likely see a massive loss of life in a very short window—and that's not even accounting for the long-term health complications for those who survive. The social fallout would be nothing short of extreme panic and a total breakdown of trust in a system that appeared to have done absolutely nothing. We might even trigger a deeper economic downward spiral. There is perhaps nothing more lethal to an economy than widespread fear and systemic distrust.

As it stands, there is at least some semblance of control, or perhaps just the illusion of it, providing a sense that we are all in this together and will emerge from it as one. That feels significantly better than some frantic, Wild West "every man for himself" scenario lacking any cohesive plan or organization.

So, your alternative is essentially what the British and Americans tried before they panicked and backed off once the situation actually hit the fans?

urbanhawk17 said:If the whole world had just shut down for twenty days, quarantine would have actually worked and saved the economy. This current approach is just dragging things out indefinitely.

Two days ago, our infection numbers were higher than they were twenty days ago, yet now we're talking about easing restrictions. Twenty days ago, the only thing we heard was #StayHome.

Why ease up now instead of twenty days ago? 🤷

When this second wave hits, are we going to be told to #StayHome for another month and a half?

What if the virus has mutated by then?

Fair enough. Mutation. But what if we keep everything wide open and this still largely mysterious virus undergoes a mutation into something even more lethal, especially given how aggressively it spreads, what exactly is the backup plan then?

Some people here seem to spend their time criticizing anyone who doesn't blindly accept every single word coming out of the headquarters, yet on the flip side, they’ll unthinkingly swallow any nonsense the Americans throw our way or claim they intend to do ☕
