Just like most people I know, I’m looking for someone to back this 🕺
My iMessage is open if you've got offers 😬

Honestly, I’ve already blanked on how this works 🙂
Anyone down to walk me through the steps?
Consumer Protection Act questions in Law ·
Peter Roberts6 said:I’m not sure who you reached out to or which shop you're dealing with, but the Consumer Protection Act is pretty straightforward about this stuff...

VII. PENAL PROVISIONS

Section 144.

(1) A legal entity shall be subject to a fine ranging from $10,000.00 to $33333 if:

– they fail to fulfill a contract made with a consumer without a valid reason, or fail to meet the deadline (Section 5, Paragraph 1),

– in the event of a product with a material defect, at the consumer's discretion, they fail to remedy the defect, fail to provide a non-defective replacement, fail to reduce the price, fail to refund the amount paid for said product, or fail to meet any other obligation required by the Uniform Commercial Code (Section 5, Paragraph 2).

The headache is when there's no way to prove whether the gear left the store working perfectly and just died after the first ... day, or if it was already busted sitting on the shelf.

Aaron Garcia36 said:Secondly, I am the one who established the rule for the diaspora community (not a colleague), and Steven Ruiz simply agreed to it when he accepted his moderator role. I don't see any reason for Steven Ruiz to be crucified for a decision that was entirely mine.

You can't really compare two PDFs that have such vastly different image policies; calling them "opposites" is a massive stretch.
The topic at hand is "publishing the President's info," not "images in the diaspora group." I stand firmly by my specific rule regarding images in the diaspora section, and so far, nobody there has complained. Why? Because there's no need to—uploading photos there is quite rare. On one hand, you can easily count how many forum members actually post photos regularly; it's limited to two specific threads, and everyone stays happy (at least, that's what I've been told).

When I typed that out, your post hadn't even hit yet. And look, once people start nitpicking every little thing, they lose track of who actually wrote what since the last person to edit a post technically owns the final word. For all we know, she might have been the one who actually wrote it—if not, then my bad, huge apologies.
Besides, it doesn't really matter who made the call; what matters is this blind adherence to rules that clearly aren't applied equally to everyone.

Honestly, you all really stepped in it together this time.
Look, we all know people say some pretty wild stuff during a heated argument just to get a reaction, but once the momentum starts, there’s no stopping it.
If high-ranking politicians can smirk and say, "Maybe it isn't fair, but it's legal," then we shouldn't be shocked when moderators cling to the letter of the law—even when those rules are ridiculous or things they basically made up themselves. This whole mess started over one single image (the fifth one in a row), and let's be real, it feels incredibly unfair to play stickler for the rules when that rule wouldn't even have been broken if things were handled differently on another sub-forum.
Speaking of photography, it’s pretty pathetic that in a place where visuals are everything—and honestly should be hosted in its own dedicated photo section—this specific shot was completely nuked.
It also felt totally shady how they aggressively enforced the rule against a fifth image, especially since the same moderator defending it would go write on a different part of the site that multiple images are perfectly fine. It's the same story with the resolution limits; they used to claim nothing could be larger than 640x480, only for us to find out certain sections allow 800x600, and even then, getting that rule updated in the photo guidelines was an uphill battle.
And honestly, leaking private messages is just tacky. It's bad taste, plain and simple, especially when that content was meant for one person only.
Since everyone involved has gone overboard here, the best move would be to bury the hatchet, make up after the PM drama 😁 and just lift the ban.
Why? Because Megan White4 actually wrote quality stuff that added real value to the site.

@Steven Ruiz, you’d really show what you're made of if you just stepped up in this thread, said "lift the ban," and settled this once and for all.

Jeremy Myers69 said:This link isn't strictly about this thread, but it breaks down one nightmare build while the rest is solid info for newbies. It covers some guy who basically threw a ton of cash at a rig. Some interesting hardware deep dives in there. The site's getting an update soon. Send people over there so you don't have to waste time explaining the basics to everyone.

🙏

Just tell us when exactly it was a nightmare?

Btw, I still think a real review is more than just two or three sentences like: "oh wow, look how pretty the black finish is..."
Whatever, nothing on that link actually helps anyone looking for a real explanation.

Eric Myers73 said:So, say I'm playing Max Payne 2, then I close the game, and a few minutes later the whole thing just dies. It doesn't happen every single time, though.

Honestly, sounds like a total mess with your drivers. When you finally wrap up a session, the CPU and GPU suddenly chill out and don't need all that extra juice anymore.
If it's happening exactly like you described, I wouldn't jump to blaming your hardware just yet.

Edward Peterson70 said:missing OCZ Freeze, Arctic MX-4, Noctua NH-D15, and the Cooler Master MasterCase

You think it's just those five?
There's way more missing, but what we really need is just having a massive variety of pastes tested all in one single spot.

Jason Hall18 said:CPU-Z shows core voltage at 1.280-1.296v

Switch those voltages over to manual. Bump the CPU up to 1.4V and see if it stays cool; if it doesn't overheat, you can always nudge it higher.
Mine was running 3DMark at about 1.5V in the BIOS, though NVIDIA brought it down to just north of 1.4V.
Just to test the limits, I even pushed it to 1.6V and, honestly, nothing happened. No issues at all.
You can also bump the memory by about 0.3V.
Not sure which sticks you're rocking, but Kingmax can usually handle an extra 0.6V (up to 2.4V).
Just a heads-up: that kind of high-voltage stuff is strictly for benchmarking—don't go running 1.6V on the CPU or 2.4V on the RAM if you plan on leaving the PC on 24/7.

I mean, look at my own post above... It clearly shows I uninstalled it and what the results were, but things just got a bit messy for me 😁

Honestly, you're better off just dropping a screenshot from Task Manager showing the CPU and memory usage.

Edward Peterson70 said:fingers crossed you hit that 100% mark 🙂

I’m using this rig every single day right now, so once I wrap this up, I might try to squeeze a little more juice out of it.
Either way, it's a pretty decent result considering how cheap this Core 2 Duo and motherboard combo was.

Didn't quite hit the jackpot this time, but hey, you never know, right?
Just wanted to prove that even an old man like the E4300 can still pull its weight on a bottom-of-the-barrel DS3L board😁.

Even that cheap Kingmax RAM (667) isn't half bad at 952@5-5-5-15
.
And honestly, even that budget 3850 from Club3D ($365) holds its own—check it out here. Plus, temps are sitting pretty under 45° even with the fans spinning at 900 RPM😍.

😁 😁 nah, I've already got three ancient relics sitting here for parts and not one of them fits the motherboard. There's just a massive gap left over.

I wasn't really looking to drill a million tiny holes myself
but you're gonna have to strip those metal shrouds off the GPU and other parts
otherwise nothing's gonna sit flush if you want the back end to be flat

Still haven't figured out how to deal with the rear panel, and I don't have any spare sheet metal lying around.
The case is being built out of 8mm MDF.
Looks like I'll be spending some quality time with a saw.

the motherboard is at the bottom, not on the side

That's the plan for me too.
Just curious, did you use one of those cheap metal sheets from an old sticker kit for the back panel?

hollowgull5 said:I don't really get it.
The case is about 12x12 inches.
The board is maybe 10 inches high and 9 wide, I think.

Guess I wasn't paying close enough attention when I read it.
I started sketching out some plans and ended up with dimensions like 14 wide, 12 deep, and 10 high.
Not sure what that would even look like.

Either way, yours looks killer.
How'd you handle the airflow?

hollowgull5, tell me the height is still 27cm?
