EDC: What's in your pockets? in Cycling ·
Kevin Rivera41 said:If you’ve got a spare tire in the trunk, who gives a damn about those idiots??

Yeah, why don't you try squeezing a spare tire into your pants if you're such a big shot

Two jacks, a spare tire, a 15mm wrench, a hand pump, and a pair of pliers. I'm just praying to God the tire doesn't blow out...

As for that "direct hit on a light pole" situation, you can see a perfect example on the path between the snack stands and the south stands at the stadium.

Is there some actual department at City Hall we can contact to get them to rip out whatever they planted before we end up losing more chickens and cats to this?

As for that "direct hit to a light pole" situation, you can see a perfect example right on the path between the snack stands and the south stands at the stadium.

Is there some specific department at City Hall we can contact to get them to rip out whatever they planted before we end up having to deal with stray kittens and raccoons?

They wasted a massive amount of cash drawing lines on the sidewalk instead of actually fixing the curbs. And even what they "fixed" is a total disaster. Seriously, people, go take a look at the bike lane transition at the Vukovarska-Miraaskarski intersection, near the southeast corner. The entire lowered section is meant for pedestrians, but the bike lane doesn't just slam right into the curb at full height—it leads you straight into a light pole. Calling this crew incompetent is being too kind. They’re such idiots, I bet their own mothers can't stand them.
The arrows painted on the path on the highway are a special kind of stupidity. Yeah, sure, everyone just drives in whatever direction suits them. Nobody is dumb enough to waste five minutes making two extra trips across the road if they can just go from Selski to Hrgović. The only issue is you never know how you're going to dodge someone coming from the opposite direction. Some people act all high and mighty and stay left, while others seem to forget we drive on the right side here. Those arrows need to be wiped away because traffic behavior is a complete free-for-all anyway.

Civil Disobedience is totally legitimate when you're dealing with arrogant idiots. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Mayor held stock in whatever company handles the traffic lights, which is probably why they installed those over-engineered, overpriced monstrosities in the first place. Actually, if they had any real business sense, they’d just separate the pedestrian crossings from the bike lanes and turn a profit on a whole new set of signals.
Is there an electrician out there with a good heart who can tell me which type of paint actually mimics the resistance of human skin?

The traffic sensor over on Hrgović was covered in some kind of weird lacquer for a while, and it kept triggering the lights for pedestrians and cyclists constantly. Unfortunately, those Bandit lackeys from the Department of Transportation scraped it all off. Does anyone actually know what kind of spray they use for this stuff?

Jamie Palmer said:Yeah, we seriously have zero luck with this route.

And don't get me started on those lights that turn green five minutes before the cars even get a chance—if I actually waited for every single light to change, it would take me all damn afternoon just to get from Rural to Skorpi...

I've been ignoring those signals since day one. What kind of moron came up with the brilliant idea to sync the pedestrian and bike lights like that? Whoever designed this clearly got their degree from a cereal box.

A while back, Bandit tore up the highway in Washington, D.C. (and slapped the name Broadway on it, whatever that's supposed to mean) claiming he’d make it better and more modern than before. The result? A massive multi-lane freeway leading right up to a shopping mall, paired with some so-called bike lane that’s basically just a dent in the sidewalk. They missed the chance to actually build a wider path, but instead, they just kept narrowing the existing one until it's getting tighter by the day. Then they went and planted streetlights right in the middle of the lanes. Most recently, they dropped these MTA barriers everywhere that stick out for no reason and cut the passage in half. I can almost wrap my head around station shelters, but those stainless steel monstrosities make zero sense. Why on earth didn't they just attach them to the shelters and stop eating up the already tiny space? The absolute peak of MTA arrogance is the sidewalk at the intersection of Main Street and the Warehouse District (I think that's the one, across from Zagorski) where they installed such an eyesore that pedestrians can barely squeeze by, let alone cyclists. Where does this end? Are we supposed to grab some saws ourselves and show these arrogant people that sidewalks and bike paths are meant for people, not for hanging advertisements?
Caffeine addiction? in Health ·
Just got back from my coffee break. I asked the crew if they thought caffeine actually triggers depression. Everyone just burst out laughing in the most depressing way possible.
Caffeine addiction? in Health ·
How can you say that? I’ve been drinking coffee religiously for the last 30 years and haven't noticed any of that nonsense mentioned above. Honestly, I look younger than my age, I donate blood at the Red Cross and they’ve never once told me I was anemic. As for calcium or osteoporosis, who knows, but nothing in my skeleton has snapped yet. Most people around me wish I was a little more depressed, but I’ve got plenty of energy and I sleep like a baby... which actually makes it a nightmare for people trying to wake me up. Especially at work. Anyway, I'm heading out for a coffee.
Sting and Dostoevsky at Carnegie Hall in Music ·
Give me a break, I actually heard Dostoevsky playing with ZF. It was a total disaster. It felt like they were trying to perform two completely different pieces at the exact same time. He was fumbling around with the lute while every fifth note sounded completely off. If he sounds like that when he's playing with Sting, we're in serious trouble...
It’s all about that contrast used to highlight just how warped a psychopath's mind really is. You have one side that's quiet, composed, and actually has good taste in music, while the other side is just... bloodthirsty. It’s the duality of characters like The Beast, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Jack and Mary, Joe and Bob, Guy and Matt, and plenty of other two-faced souls out there.

The baskets from Walmart are honestly the best. They have just the right dimensions to get your hand in there comfortably and pull it tight with a rubber band. Most of the stuff you find at those cheap junk shops is way too small and flimsy.

To get to work, you first have to swipe a shopping cart from the grocery store. It’s honestly a lifesaver—you can just toss your backpack in there so your back doesn't end up soaked in sweat by the time you arrive.

JUST PUSH AND KEEP GRINDING!!!
That’s what the cop told me when he pulled me over on Main Street because I was driving on the sidewalk. I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry...

How did they catch you? Usually, I'm already a hundred yards past them before they even realize what happened.

So they finally reopened the highway after all that construction near the bike lane by the Remetinec area—except the path was already narrowed down to basically one foot because someone’s garden is encroaching on it—and what do they do? They put up a traffic sign right there! They actually made the narrowest part even tighter! Luckily, some guy just plowed right through it, leaving nothing but a skid mark on the asphalt. Honestly, how am I supposed to even commute to work on a bike when the paths are a complete joke like this?...
Commuting to work by bike in Cycling ·
Honestly, I’d take that special report with all those charts and shove it right under the guy responsible for those sunken highway shoulders, just to force him to actually get out of his car and look at the mess every time he crosses the road. Total idiots... they do half a job and then have the nerve to brag about how many miles of bike lanes they've built.
Commuting to work by bike in Cycling ·
Seriously, does anyone know which idiot decided to put those push-button bike signals on the renovated highway (the stretch from Broadway over to Sunset Boulevard, or whatever they're calling it now)? I ride through there every single day on my commute, and I'm constantly getting caught by a red light. Honestly, we should just grab our favorite local outlaw and make him ride a specialized bike with heavy-duty tires all the way from the Industrial District down to the Spanish District... just to crush every single one of those stupid lights and rip up every single "lowered" curb with a saw so he doesn't wreck his rims.
