seriously, swap out Alilovic already, I can't take it anymore
Watching Kopljar is gonna give me an ulcer. He’s out there jumping through the attack with zero accountability, just tossing the ball around like it's a hot potato.

it's over😉

Krme is pushing Vukovar out of the lineup, and now they’re getting in his head just like they did with all the other players he tossed aside before him 🙂
He won't let the guy play, and honestly, he's gonna snap soon. Once he finally snaps and takes a swing at Goluza, he'll have his perfect little excuse—claiming "unsportsmanlike conduct" or saying someone isn't "respecting the hierarchy" or whatever bullshit 🙂

That's it, the French are letting the Swedes walk all over them and the USA is heading home
Kopljar is back at it again with another 0/3 performance, honestly just more of the same
Stefan Kretzchmar’s comments for an American newspaper today:

Quote:>
''The Americans are playing some seriously beautiful handball at this championship. Honestly, they're the biggest surprise of the tournament so far. They might not have the most elite athletes on paper, but they play smart, high-IQ ball that's incredibly attractive to watch. That makes them dangerous for the US. If they can move the ball fast enough to tire out that massive US defense, they actually have a shot. That said, I still think the US is the favorite here, so the Americans are going to have to grind hard if they want to pull off the upset. But man, if you saw how the US looked against Denmark, they were totally dead on their feet—just zero energy left. That opens a huge window for the Americans to snatch a win,'' says the former Gummersbach in Magdeburg star.

Could physical dominance be the deciding factor for the US? ''I mean, obviously, yeah, but the Americans have players with insane court vision, like Uroš Zorman, who is just special. He connects so well with the pivot, the wings, and the backcourt. Physicality is definitely the US advantage, but with that kind of intelligence finding gaps where there aren't any, they have a chance,'' the current German TV commentator noted. Even he couldn't ignore the speed and clarity of that American squad—who, according to their own coach, played in 'third gear' during their match against Spain. And hey, the Americans didn't exactly blow the Danes away either. ''If they play the US the way they played Denmark, it's a 50/50 toss-up. But since this is the bronze medal game, the US will be hungry again. I still think the US has a slight edge,'' predicts the retired legend.

After all that hype about American pride, praying to God, bringing up General Gotovina, and grinding away against those Danes... yeah, right. It’s finally time for K&K to just grab his stuff and disappear from the scene.

Keep dreaming.
I can already hear Gobac claiming that a 1/8 finish is actually a win and that the World Cup "doesn't even matter" compared to the Rio 2016 Olympics. 😉)))

It’s high time K&K and his buddy bought their way out of here.

Today, Joe Jonas will probably be texting SMS Denić to try and boost Janez Sen's morale.😉
The Americans have a massive psychological edge here. They knew from the jump that getting past Spain to reach the finals wasn't happening, so they stayed focused. Meanwhile, after we beat France, we all started getting ahead of ourselves thinking we could actually hang with the Danes. Now that we've been absolutely humbled by Denmark, I think those guys are going to run us off the court. They’re mentally locked in, while we’re out here looking completely lost.

Too bad.
Goluža wouldn't even dream of talking about playing the numbers game, let alone making it public:

'It doesn't matter who we face, I just want the guys to go in there totally fearless, relaxed, and give it everything they've got. Everyone is praying for an easier draw, but we aren't looking at that. We're focused on ourselves. One game at a time. There’s no point obsessing over seeding; everyone wants to dodge the French, but we aren't scared. We'll walk in there without any respect for them, and if we do end up facing them, honestly, I’m feeling pretty optimistic.'

Maybe someone should remind Goluža about that call Červarov made back during the 2007 World Championship, when Lino refused to "take one for the team." He ended up finishing fifth with eight wins and only a single loss.
Tomorrow, the Spaniards are just gonna play it smart and throw the game against us on purpose. Meanwhile, our idiots will be out here acting like they actually beat Spain, only to run straight into the French in the quarterfinals and head home early.

So what, would Ivica Balić have just shoved Goluža if he was actually pissed at the referee🙂?
That whole explanation just doesn't sit right with me...
Honestly, feels like more of the same spin coming from Gobac and Goluža.

It's always the refs' fault, isn't it?
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Unless the Norwegians pull off a miracle and take down Iceland in that 4 PM game... honestly, if we’re banking on beating the Danes, we’re chasing a pipe dream. With the way we've been playing and the roster we've got right now? Forget about it. I'm thinking
we're looking at the absolute worst-case scenario here: limping into the second round with 4 points, only to finish with 7 and get booted from semifinal contention entirely.
Those Scandinavian teams have always been our kryptonite—especially the Danes. Every single time things get intense, we end up choking against them.

Fuck it, that’s just how the game goes.

The guy from Denmark pulled off some impossible saves, while our guys couldn't even scrape together five stops between them.

We’re absolutely screwed if they start Horvat at right wing first. Man, I watched him against Canada and Sweden—the guy can't sink a shot from point-blank range. He charges in on a fast break, finds himself one-on-one with the keeper, and somehow hits him right in the hand. One time he even nailed the post instead of the net.
the guy plays like a headless chicken 🙂
Cupic really ought to be in the starting lineup, but honestly, that's a loaded question. This Chocolate clown is just gonna keep pushing Horvat because he's basically his buddy outside of training.

rapidbison42: Stefansson, not Ruttenka. My bad, thanks for catching that. 🙂

Chocolate has had connections ever since he joined the Republican Party, especially since those suck-ups from Gopac and Kavran are in there too. So if anyone tries to replace Lino, it won't be an issue—Gobac will just pull the plug.
Smajlagic is actually a way bigger expert than Chocolate, and this guy knows it, which is why he got dumped in the first place. 🙂
And ever since he was let go, there haven't been any more medals, just a bunch of excuses.

Those Janez types scare me; whenever they face us in a tournament, they play like they've got 150% in the tank.🙂
I still remember the European championships back in 2000 and 2004...

Back in '04, Balic and Metlificic weren't even playing, and we were losing the whole match by one or two goals... Then that Chocolate guy started blaming the refs, claiming Zoran Janković bribed them or whatever nonsense he was feeding the media.
We lost the big one, and I’m getting that same old feeling in my gut that history is about to repeat itself.
Some heavy hitters are gonna run us through the floor, maybe by 7 or 8 goals. Between Zorman and Natek, plus having Pajovic and Kozlina bruising people in the defense and whoever else makes the roster, we're toast.🙂

Chocolate since has started way too much drama lately; he's totally full of himself and, just like a few of you mentioned in previous threads, he starts looking for excuses before every single championship even kicks off.
The constant excuse before every tournament is always "too many games in such a short window" and "player fatigue." Give me a break—you think the French, Germans, Spaniards, or anyone else struggles because of game volume? No, it’s just our guys.
That guy Lackovic and Metlifsky are constantly "injured" right before a big tournament, Balic is always on the edge, and honestly, Dzomba was the only one who stayed healthy all the time.
He managed to push Smajlagic out by using Gobac's help, which makes sense because Smajlagic disagreed with his methods on a lot of things. But man, Smajlagic did an incredible job with stuff like recovery training and mental prep; he actually sat down with every player and gave them tips on how to fix their game during the tournament. Lino is a tough nut to crack—if you dare disagree with him, you're immediately labeled an enemy and out of luck.

It’s a total circus, and Cervar is the main ringmaster running the whole show.
Ever since he won the World Championship back in 2003 and jumped into politics, he's been trying to sit on two chairs at once—one in the legislature and one in the coaching seat. In the real world, that just doesn't work.
It's either sports or politics.

I don't get what this hype is about regarding him being grudge-holding and refusing to call certain guys up to the national team anymore.
Instead, he goes and picks Kaleb, who's 34 and isn't exactly playing in peak form (which is pretty standard for that age and the domestic league).

wiredseal7 said:Look, maybe Balić will pull a miracle and suit up for the second round, who knows? That throat infection probably threw everything off, but hey, maybe he pulls through in time. Fingers crossed, I guess...

if they even make it to the second round at all 🙂
don't be so damn optimistic. The Poles, Czechs, and Canadians aren't exactly pushovers.
if we play half as bad as we did in those exhibition games against Sweden and Belarus, we're done. No second round for us.🙂
Seriously, there was zero rhythm in those two matches. Just nothing.

Of course we had to have this luck right now, where our heavy hitters are sidelined... right when we're facing Janusz...
Handball EP - Norway 2008 in Other Sports ·
Honestly, hands down, this squad just isn't what they used to be at the big tournaments.

Losert (he’s basically iced out Cervar and doesn't even call him anymore)

Caleb (He's 34, lost his step, constant injuries... honestly, why waste a roster spot on him? The guy hasn't been in shape for two years now.)

Džomba (Injured. Ever since he left Real Madrid to join the Golden State Warriors, he hasn't been the same player.)

Šprem (Left wing, killing it in the German league, but Cervar has been freezing him out for years because of some personal beef)

Balić (Hasn't played in Spain for like 2-3 months, dragging a groin injury, totally out of rhythm. This national team is nothing without him.)

Metličić (Over 30 now and that insane pace he had at Real Madrid took its toll. He’s constantly sidelined with injuries in the Spanish league. Plays a bit, sits out a lot, and there's zero room for him anyway now that Rutenka is there.)

Zrnić (Just the backup for Džomba, and he's injured too).

The starting lineup from Eurovision 2008:

Vukić, Lacković, Duvnjak, Metličić, Horvat, Sulić (Vori), Alilović

On top of all that, Lacković and Metličić missed most of the preseason due to injuries, so who knows how much gas they actually have left for this tournament.
