I truly fail to see any logical justification for anyone to shell out more than $100 for such an item, and even then, only if they happen to be having an exceptionally lucky day. If I were personally in the market for something secondhand and budget-friendly, I would find myself willing to stretch my limit to perhaps $33, though I say that with all due respect to those with different priorities.
I cannot speak to my experience with Windows 8, but I find that Windows 10 is unfortunately cluttered with an overwhelming number of redundant processes, services, and background programs. It might be beneficial for you to perform a clean installation of Windows 10 and then systematically block or remove all that excess. There is quite a significant amount of digital debris and unnecessary bloatware that can be stripped away. I personally took the time to prune my own system to eliminate everything superfluous, aiming to make the operating system as lightweight and streamlined as possible. Now, nothing unnecessary runs in the background, whether I am actively working or just booting up the machine. I truly cannot adequately express how much better the experience is once you polish it; it feels like comparing the simplicity of Windows 95 to the refinement of Windows 7. However, please be aware that there is considerable work involved if you want to achieve maximum fluidity. On the other hand, if you can find all the necessary drivers, I would actually recommend installing Windows 7 Ultimate. In my estimation, it remains the finest version of Windows ever released for the average user, provided the hardware support exists. You still have to clear out some minor clutter, though far less than what is required for Windows 10. Even with my relatively powerful laptop, Windows 10 completely bogged it down. Things only began to improve once I meticulously optimized it. The OS is simply plagued by too many intrusive processes and services; at any given moment, at least one of them is taxing the disk, CPU, or RAM by several dozen percent—sometimes even keeping the disk usage pinned at 100% almost constantly. Do give that approach a try. If that fails to resolve the issue, then perhaps selling the machine is your only remaining recourse.
