I was thinking about this today while digging through some old vinyl. It feels like we’ve reached a weird point in music history where the "new" stuff is almost always just something that was sitting in a dusty basement or a vault for fifty years. We treat these old scraps like they're groundbreaking discoveries, but it’s really just a scavenger hunt through the archives.

Don't get me wrong, I love the nostalgia, but it makes me wonder if we've actually run out of fresh ideas. It feels like the industry is increasingly obsessed with excavating the past rather than supporting anyone currently making something original. It’s easy to hype up a "lost" track from a legendary era, but it’s a lot harder to build that kind of mythos around a band playing in a garage today.

Do you think the obsession with "unreleased" tracks is just a way to keep old legacies profitable, or is there genuine value in hearing these unfinished pieces of history?
