tough break for Alonso—wonder if it was an engine failure

It’s such a shame... he was actually two tenths faster than Leclerc through those first two sectors. 🕺
He had a brilliant whole weekend, and honestly, Ocon was miles ahead... it’s just a pity.

But seriously, what on earth is going on with those Renault engines? This is the third different one they've used in just three races this season... it sounded like it just died right before he hit the turn.🙏

Max made a mistake and dropped three and a half tenths in the final sector, so I guess he could still grab pole if they restart the session.

Karun Chandhok mentioned he couldn't even reach the downshift paddle. 😁
If he had stayed in a higher gear and dove deep into the corner, things might have gone differently.

That Alpine car really comes alive when Fernando Alonso is behind the wheel. Especially here at the Miami Grand Prix.

He didn't just say it, either. I was watching the slow-mo, frame-by-frame footage, and you can literally see him slamming the paddle, trying to downshift into third, but nothing happens. He’s stuck in fourth gear. Can you believe that?

Edit: They just showed the telemetry, turns out he completely botched it in sector three.

I suppose Alonso triggered that red flag just as Sainz was finishing up his first flying lap, so that lap wasn't counted—even though he likely would have been sitting in P1 at that moment.
Then, during the final lap, Leclerc managed to pull a blistering pace, about three tenths faster, while Sainz made a pretty big mistake in Sector 3 and lost over a second because of it.

Absolute geniuses over there keeping the drivers waiting until the very last second when they only get one shot at it, and of course—total FAIL!
What a bunch of idiots!

Sainz needs to find some consistency, otherwise he’s going to end up as nothing more than a wingman for Leclerc pretty quickly.

It’s such a damn shame for Fernando, seriously, I mean what is up with those cars bouncing all over the place on that straight right before it bends slightly to the left?
Screw Sainz too.
And don't even get me started on this race schedule, people are already complaining about the sun being right in their eyes.
