Who, exactly, is qualified to judge whether a specific movement constitutes "sudden acceleration or braking," or if it is merely a driver performing standard maneuvers to warm up their tires? Or, how can one distinguish a dangerous maneuver that endangers others from a perfectly normal sequence used to get heat into the rubber?
Furthermore, when a situation arises similar to what we see in picture 2, who is going to decide based on what criteria if the lead driver is at fault for braking too aggressively, or if the following driver is to blame for tailgating and moving into an illegal position? Who is going to spend their time measuring millimeters and centimeters between picture 2 and picture 3 to determine the exact boundary between a legal and illegal position, especially during cornering?
In short, I can already foresee a complete circus surrounding all of this.🤦
They have two race directors now, along with a dedicated race control room and a full team of stewards, so I suppose they might as well earn their salaries.
It seems these new officials have hit the ground running with quite an intensity. Now, drivers are being told they aren't even allowed to wear jewelry, and apparently, their underwear must be flame-retardant.
