Reward for info leading to arrest

Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone here actually knows how the whole reward system works when it comes to turning in info on a crime—like, who kicks off the process, what kind of situations qualify, who's actually footing the bill, all that jazz?
Specifically, I feel like it would definitely get some movement if someone actually had solid intel on an incident, because let’s be real, nobody is immune to cold hard cash, and you just don't see this being used much over here in the States.
Obviously, the payout has to be massive enough to make "snitching" worth the potential risk.

What kind of confidentiality guarantees are we looking at, and how much would they actually pay for info that helps the Department of Justice?
