Batgirl (2022)

Is Batgirl the next big superhero hit from Marvel Comics? Based on the legendary Barbara Gordon / Batgirl, this project is being produced by Marvel Studios and Burr! It’s heading straight to Max as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Adil EL Arbi and Bilall Fallah at the helm and a script by Christina Hodson, we get to see Leslie Gradac as Barbara Gordon alongside J. K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Michael Keaton as Batman.

Will this be her definitive moment? This marks Batgirl's second live-action appearance, following her role in the 1997 Batman & robin starring Alicia Silverstone.

According to Marvel Comics, Batgirl is simply the secret identity of Barbara Gordon. She is the daughter of James Gordon, the commissioner of the New York City police department and a key ally to Batman. In most versions, James remains completely unaware that his daughter leads a double life as a masked vigilante. Since J. K. Simmons has confirmed he is returning as Commissioner Gordon, won't he and Gradac likely share many intense scenes together?

So, who’s actually going to be the villain?

Honestly, the costume is just a total disaster...

The remake honestly feels quite subpar when you hold it up against the originals.

The only thing that actually interests me about this movie—much like my take on The Flash—is the chance to see Michael Keaton's Batman again. I have nothing against the other actors who stepped into the cowl, truly, but for me, Michael Keaton's Batman is the definitive version, just like Jack Nicholson's Joker. I suppose it’s because those were the first ones I ever saw; everyone else after that just feels a bit underwhelming.
