Honestly, I can't even tell you what my plans are until the very last minute; it all just depends on how much energy I have left in the tank during that final stretch before Christmas. If the week ends up being a total grind and I'm completely wiped, I might skip the decorating altogether, but if I actually manage to catch my breath and feel inspired, I’ll probably end up putting together some wild, over-the-top tree.
Just looking at this makes me want to get creative right now.

We’re starting to decorate the place, hanging up some lights and I've been busy cutting out paper snowflakes to tape onto the windows. We might actually get a small tree this year.
Last year, I went all out on baking all sorts of cookies and treats...Those guys with the red noses were basically Rudolf. 😳Forget about it. That’s definitely getting skipped this year. My husband can handle the baking, and I might just throw some chocolate on some grapes if I feel like it—it's faster anyway.

Up until last week, we weren't even sure if we’d be getting a tree here in Washington, D.C.—since I don't celebrate Christmas in the traditional sense—but I was pretty insistent, so now we're heading over to IKEA to pick one out! The little guy is an artificial one in a pot. But he's so cute.
I've already finished shopping for jewelry and even grabbed the tree topper today, so it's going to look gorgeous. I also sorted out the Christmas tablecloth, and we're planning to grab some coasters while we're at it. I'm really hoping they have some gold ones. Plus, I'm going to make a little jar filled with fairy lights.
Poor thing has no idea what he's in for.
I have the phobia that there is someone always near.

Honestly, there was something so therapeutic about cutting them out. They looked so good that I ended up leaving them up for two extra months, which was a total mistake because the glue dried into this nightmare that was impossible to scrape off—I was swearing under my breath the whole time, telling myself "never again." But, well, I’ve clearly forgotten all that struggle because I'm already thinking about cutting more and putting them back up.

I've had a snowman stuck on my window for years because it’s impossible to get off. So yeah, he stays there year-round. 😁

Those wooden slats look cool, but who actually wants to deal with nailing those up?

I’ve actually got this little "pine tree" sitting in my garage that I DIYed out of an old TV antenna; I just gave it a quick coat of silver spray paint, and if I don't come up with anything more creative, that’s going to be my main centerpiece. I’ve got these white seashells and some silver garlands ready to go, maybe throw in a few ornaments here and there, and it’ll look great. It’s honestly pretty practical since it’s so flat, so it doesn't take up half the room like those massive trees do.
As for a second tree, I think I could probably whip one of those up myself. One summer, I spent a good amount of time gathering river stones, and I was thinking I could just wire them together using some fishing line and hang the whole thing on the wall.

Last year, I went all out on homemade cookies (the ones with red noses were meant to be Rudolf 😳), but I think I’ll skip the heavy baking this time around. My husband can handle the crescent rolls, while I'll probably just stick to chocolate-covered raisins—it's much faster:
