Comparing Sergio Perez to a toolbox? Honestly, that's an insult to toolboxes.

Valtteri Bottas earned pole position.

It looks like Mercedes just managed to get their tires up to the ideal operating temperature better than anyone else, whereas Red Bull Racing couldn't quite find that sweet spot.

I’m honestly stunned. It’s wild how much things shifted during qualifying compared to the practice sessions.
Red Bull Racing couldn't really find any pace outside of those medium tires in Qualifying 2—and honestly, even if Yuki Tsunoda hadn't completely botched that final attempt, I'm not sure they would have had enough to matter.

Tomorrow we’ve got that grueling, marathon-length race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so anything could happen.

Max seems to think everyone else is an idiot.
He’s getting pretty tiresome with how he constantly judges the other drivers.

Actually, Max lost a ton of time in the second sector because of that early slide, so he was right on track to significantly improve his lap. It wouldn't have been the same at all. He mentioned after the session that he expected a yellow flag when he saw two cars off the track, so he backed off.

Yeah, I mean, sure, let's just blame that poor kid from Japan for everything, right? But honestly, it’s perfect for keeping the race interesting.
👋
Though, if we're being real, guys like Yuki Tsunoda, Nikita Mazepin, or Lance Stroll probably shouldn't even be looking for a seat in Formula 1 at this point.

Classic Toto Wolff Mercedes tactics that some people still somehow swallow whole.🙂
Run through the FP-ove at half power, then start the "oh no, we're terrible, we're worse than Haas..." whining.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Valtteri gets into Q3 and our poor guy struggling to find any grip in that car magically finds enough pace to sweep the competition with a 0.5 second advantage.🙂

Looks like Valtteri is playing second fiddle today, letting his teammate take the lead while he just parks the bus behind the squad.

Something like that. Let's chase that title and then head straight into retirement. ☕

............

.... but let's take it one step at a time. First the practice sessions, then qualifying, and finally the race itself.....

Then we'll see who's really king of the hill and who's just playing for second place. It's all going to come out in the wash.🙂

Honestly, he’s getting kind of old with all that judging other drivers—it's getting repetitive.

He's actually being way too nice about it,

It’s pretty clear that Sergio Perez doesn't even hold a candle to drivers like Jarno Trulli, let alone someone of Gerhard Berger's caliber.

If we're being honest about his actual talent, Sergio Perez is sitting somewhere just a tiny bit above the level of Pastor Maldonado.
We all know that if it weren't for the Slim dollar , Sergio wouldn't be able to keep pace with Lance Stroll in Formula 1.

They cruise through the FP-ove at half power just to play the victim—"Oh, we're struggling, we're worse than the Haas F1 Team..."
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Valtteri makes it into Q3 and the poor guy working his soul out to drag those dying tires along find all this magic strength, and boom—they sweep the competition with a 0.5 second gap.🙂

It's pretty obvious Mercedes was sandbagging during practice—especially in sectors 2 and 3—but even Red Bull Racing missed their ideal tire window at the end of Q3 (just like they did at the end of FP3).

I know—I'll be at my absolute smartest when I'm playing general after the battle is already won. 🤷Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, are we?

Starting a thread about Mexico City without reminiscing about the most insane race ever held on that track? 🕺
+ That absolute madness—reclaiming 2nd place on the final lap, Nigel Mansell versus Gerhard Berger, worn-out tires against fresh ones tearing through the Peraltada corner... basically defying every known law of physics.

Bottas has been driving like a total amateur ever since he escaped that toxic team orders mess over at Mercedes.

That overtake, clawing back 2nd place on the final lap—Nigel Mansell versus Gerhard Berger, worn tires against fresh ones, diving into the Peraltada corner against all laws of physics.

If Berger had pulled off that move on Mansell today, he’d be looking at at least a 10-second penalty.

Formula 1 has become incredibly soft.

Richard Walker38 said:Walter's letting his teammate slip by today just so he can pull the bus up behind the crew.

Not right away, but honestly, it makes sense for him to let him through. He’d do the exact same thing for Perez Verstappen, don't even worry about it. 👍

There's a high chance of a fastest lap too, which adds another 10 points to the gap. If Hamilton doesn't mess something up on a global scale, he's back in the lead. And people were already out here acting like it was all over.
