Sysadmin Help Needed

I really wish we could find a solid admin for this military history and tech sub to actually step in and clean things up.
Lately, instead of actual expert discussions backed by facts, everything has just devolved into people attacking each other personally and being straight-up condescending.
It’s turning these threads into total garbage. Honestly, just kick those arrogant jerks out—they can argue in private messages instead of trashing the main board!

I’m backing this request... honestly, the situation on the Military History and technology subforum has been a total disaster for the last year or so. It’s become completely unreadable 😵

I mean, I think you guys might actually need to come up with a few specific examples of what you're complaining about first

The point is, for months now there hasn't been any moderator running that subforum...☕

Like people have already been saying, if we just lay out all these "crimes" right here, it’ll definitely make things easier for everyone involved.

The PDF is pretty lively, there's plenty of activity, and honestly, I've gotta admit the debates can get pretty heated sometimes—occasionally crossing the line into being a bit tasteless. 🙄

I thought the OP was asking you guys to finally assign a moderator to that subforum—since it’s been a ghost town for months—and I was just jumping in to back him up. It’s a bit late for the post cleanup stuff, but you could at least try to stop the bleeding there. If you need to dig up old offenses just to justify hiring a mod for that section, then honestly, let it all burn. I’m not wasting my breath on that.

I’m always the first one out there shoveling the snow away from my front door and clearing a path around my car.
Pretty soon, everyone else in the building will be doing the same thing.
To be honest, I really can't stand wasting my time on it, though.
I don't sit around waiting for some property management company or a landlord to step up and handle it for me.

I don't get why you're so obsessed with this idea of a "cleanup"... nobody is asking to scrub the place. We just want a moderator who actually shows up, so there won't be anything left to clean up in the first place. Do you seriously think it makes sense to go back now, after six months or more, and try to sanitize every single mess, nonsense post, or off-topic thread that ever hit that subforum? It’s pointless, especially when we're talking about maybe two or three pages across a couple of threads 🤦

But there's no point arguing this further if we're just going to end up at total loggerheads 🤷

Look, don't go overboard here. I mean, PDFs are honestly one of the few things actually worth reading sometimes. The real issue I see is when people just can't seem to back up their own points, or they totally lose it because someone else happens to disagree. You should just state your case and leave it at that, you know? It feels pointless to try and punish anyone just for having a different perspective. Besides, if someone is actually being problematic, you can always just report them.

@analogtiger19, I honestly don't know how else to tell you—just like briskbison55 keeps telling you—if you see a post that’s out of line, just report it.

When I say "cleaning up," I'm talking metaphorically, so my bad if that comes off weird sometimes.
The thing is, metaphors are a bit hit-or-miss; people catch different vibes from them, and maybe it wasn't the smoothest way for me to phrase things.

But look, you've got a point there—I don't really see much point in us going in circles on this topic anymore.

Believe me, we’re working hard to track someone down, but honestly, we haven't had much luck yet—at least not as of right now. Stryder and The Scotsman are helping out by keeping an eye on things and checking through applications, but what we really need is someone with deep expertise who is genuinely willing to dedicate themselves to the Tank section, because that community deserves way better than what they're getting. I know things feel pretty chaotic at the moment, but we have every intention of fixing this once we find the right people to step up. Finding that perfect fit is just proving to be the hardest part of the whole process. :/
