That part wasn't really my thing, but I did dig the mystery they were building up toward the end. Plus, those accident scenes felt pretty damn realistic. And honestly, just the whole vibe of a world-ending event that nobody actually manages to stop... I liked that.
There are plenty of pros and cons here, I guess, but if you're looking for a movie to watch on a lazy night when you've had a few drinks—kind of like the main character—it’s a solid choice.

The directing was absolute garbage, but I still love the guy. He’s got a solid filmography if you actually look at his list. Personally, my top picks are Raising Arizona and Adaptation.
By the way, "I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire!" is easily one of the best pieces of trash cinema ever made. 🙏

I mean, once it turned out that the "little green men" were basically just announcing the end of the world by providing coordinates, timestamps, and casualty counts... the whole narrative just fell apart for me. And don't even get me started on that bit about Nick's son being the new Adam...

I honestly feel like he’s had some really solid roles under his belt. It usually just comes down to whether he has decent direction behind the camera, you know? But even when he’s totally unconvincing or just bizarrely bad... man, he still has this weird, inexplicable charisma. He’s never, ever a boring watch...

So, I happened to catch The Frozen Ground (2013) on PBS tonight, and honestly, it was such a solid film that I’d almost completely forgotten about it...
While Cage gives a really strong performance, the movie unfortunately tanked at the box office. It seems like American audiences are much more drawn to fantastical superheroes and villains than they are to our own gritty, raw reality...

For some reason, I’ve just always had this inexplicable, gut-level dislike for Cage—it’s hard to put my finger on it. Don't get me wrong, he's definitely had his better moments, but there’s just something about him that makes me roll my eyes every single time he pops up on the screen.
