I didn't say it was universally fake, but it certainly feels that way to me because there's zero connection. It’s just my subjective take. When you see titles like Meetings at the Edge of the World, Into the Abyss, or Grizzly Man, I get this sense of pure pretentiousness. There's no real depth, no epiphany, nothing—just a generic documentary. Where does it actually work? Only when it functions as an entertaining remake. Honestly, Lieutenant is decent enough enough.

Oh, he’s always had a thing for those epic, poetic titles, hasn't he? Even that documentary where he dives into the darker corners of the internet—he called it "Lo and behold: reveries of the connected world"... and his one about volcanoes? "Into the inferno." He just loves the drama!

I actually just finished watching "Where Green Ants Dream" the other day, and man, that title hits home... especially once you've seen the film. It really sticks with you...

Everything she edited was pure gold.

It’s hard to find a more profound study of human madness than Aguirre, though if you ask Kinski, a younger Douglas in 'day of madness' is nothing more than a child. I honestly fail to see why I even attempted to compare the two films in the first place.
And frankly, it makes my skin crawl when modern generations insist on viewing Werner Herzog solely through the lens of a documentarian.
Aguirre, the Fitzcarraldo scene sailing into New Orleans alongside the Belinijev puritanac, Wagner in Nosferatu, Kaspar Hauser....
Stipetić is a genius.

I mean, that whole Herzog and Kinski connection? Honestly, it’s probably the wildest thing in cinema history to me.

Whenever I hear Werner Herzog mentioned, I immediately picture Kinski’s crazy face from Aguirre, Dracula, Nosferatu, or Woyzeck...

Even Bierbichler’s voice—and Hias’s too... "Yeah, and then they set off, pathetic and aimless, in a boat that's far too small." Pair that with the timeless sounds of Dijon played by the Binkley ensemble, all projected on that massive screen...

That's interesting! I haven't actually seen Heart of Glass yet, I guess.

Nosferatu – Phantom of the Night is a truly magnificent film. 😉

I just finished watching "The Secret of Kaspar Hauser," and I honestly think it might be his finest work to date. It’s such a warm, straightforward narrative, yet it actually says far more about the society of that era than it does about Kaspar himself. He serves as this vessel for pure, healthy logic and untainted innocence, while the people surrounding him—ranging from the highly educated to the less so—are merely products of their environment and the specific time they live in.

"Out there, far out in the Sea, sits a rocky island, with a smaller second one nearby. They exist at the very edge of the inhabited world. On one island for centuries a few forgotten people have lived, and because they live on the edge of the inhabited world, news hasn't reached them yet that the Earth is round. To them, the belief remains that the earth is flat and the ocean ends in a yawning abyss.

I see a Man on a Cliff of the Rock. For years he stands alone, staring across the sea, day by day, always in the same Place. He is the first to doubt.

Then, after Years, three more men join him. Many years they stare together from the cliff out at the Sea. And then, one day, they decide to find out what lies at the end. They wanted to go to the edge of the world and see if that abyss actually exists.

Musicians playing farewell."

Finally got around to watching "Heart of Glass." It’s such a fascinating movie, though I guess it wouldn't be quite the same without that soundtrack. The music is just beautiful!

Right now, you’re giving me major Green Ant Top vibes.
I'll give you this: Aguirre is consistent. He always delivers.
Heart of Glass? Too shaky for me. I don't think it holds up against the rest.
Cobra Verde actually works, though. It's got something.
And Fitzcarraldo.
I found Kaspar Hauser interesting—not sure how it would land today, though.
Woyzeck always felt a bit sketchy to me.
I could stomach Stroszek back in the day, but looking back, it feels like nothing more than pretentious nonsense.
The Dwarfs are starting to head down that same path of pure pretension.
As for Rescue Dawn, I have no clue. I felt nothing watching it; it just doesn't stand out.
