The trailer looks decent enough... definitely giving off those Blaxploitation + Vietnam War vibes. Not bad at all.
I’m just crossing my fingers that the actual soundtrack holds up and sounds as good as it does in this preview.

This movie is a total wreck. It’s a great concept that was executed catastrophically.
Spike Lee should probably just retire at this point.

Total snooze fest. I was actually looking forward to this since I thought BlacKklotterman was solid, and I’m usually a big fan of Spike Lee, but I honestly just checked out halfway through. It’s just boring.

This movie is an absolute disaster... I don't even know how to describe it... just a cinematic mess from an overambitious, lost activist director who seems to think his entire purpose in life is cranking out films with the exact same political agenda every single time.🥱
But whatever... let him make what he wants... the film is clearly targeted at a specific Black American audience anyway...

One thing really jumped out at me, though... the former prostitute from the Vietnam War era in this movie looks like she's barely fifty (she's holding up well), but the Black lead looks well into his sixties (at least, that's my guess), and if we're assuming this takes place in the present day—considering the Vietnam War ended roughly 45 years ago...
How old was she when she was working those streets and hooking up with our guy in the film?? 5?! 10?! 🤔😵🤦

The concept for the film holds potential, particularly with the premise of returning to reclaim buried gold, yet the execution feels somewhat underdeveloped and lacks a cohesive direction.

Just one more little thing, but honestly, it’s these tiny details that drive me absolutely insane... especially when they come from "distinguished" directors who should really know better!

You’ve got these old veterans, 65 plus, getting together after thirty or forty years, and suddenly they're tearing up the dance floor at some club, only to be shown in the very next scene just lounging around sipping JUICE THROUGH A STRAW🤦 Give me a break... It felt like Spike was just throwing scenes together without any actual structure or vision...
Actually, those juices were put front and center on purpose, wasn't that obvious? It’s a cheap way to make sure nobody suspects his gritty veterans are actually hitting the bottle... how slippery can you get?🤦

And I have to wonder, what on earth took them forty years to go hunting for that gold?🤔

Maybe they needed some young girl to show up in her prime to help out with the logistics?😛

Spike... after this stunt... can things even get any worse?!
