How do you guys say hello?

People have all sorts of ways of greeting each other across the globe.
Personally, I’ve always respected how they handle it in Japan.
A bow—without any unnecessary touching.

I remember back in the day, before everything changed, people used to greet each other with multiple kisses on the cheek—sometimes three, sometimes two, or just one if you were feeling modern.

Then we moved into the whole hugging and handshaking phase—the classic American standard.

But honestly, it’s good that we grew up and moved past the cheek-kissing stage.
A solid hug or a quick shoulder-to-shoulder squeeze shows plenty of closeness.
That’s more than enough.

It really depends on the vibe. Usually, I'll just give a quick "hey," but if I’m heading out, it’s more like "later." Sometimes, if I'm feeling extra playful with my buddies, I might hit them with a "what's up, you rascal 😍," though there are definitely folks I don't even bother greeting. 🤷

I give my friends a hug (unless they’re one of those people who hates being touched), I offer acquaintances a casual "hey, how's it going," and I give my relatives three kisses on the cheek. As for the people I can't stand? I just give them a quick nod—basically saying, "I see you, now shut up because I have zero interest in opening my mouth."

Well, I suppose it all really comes down to where you happen to be and who you’re dealing with. With some folks, it’s just a polite handshake. With others, maybe there's a quick hug or a little more warmth if the moment calls for it.
With some people, a simple wave from across the street is plenty... it just depends on the person and the setting, I guess.
My son actually knows to look out for me when we run into each other at the local Target parking lot. He'll sometimes try to dodge me, only to end up pulling me into a hug anyway—even though I'm built a bit like a heavy-duty Ford F-150. People tend to give us those slightly awkward looks, I suppose...
But hey, that’s just how it is between my son and me. That’s our thing.
