Sean Reyes said:I am asking all sensible forum members to refrain from engaging in specific discussions regarding air conditioning units. There is a dedicated thread for that purpose, which I hope will be reinstated shortly, as its restoration is the primary objective of this topic.

What we require is a new moderator, rather than the continued incompetence displayed thus far. Please, let us focus our attention there. We can return to debating AC units—whether heatedly or otherwise—once we have competent and meaningful moderation back in place.

I appreciate everyone's support. Please ignore the trolls.

HINT: You aren't the moderator.

They really shouldn't be shutting down Temu; honestly, it’s such a bad move, especially when they just lock everything down at some "random" time. I mean, looking at this thread—which isn't even that big of a deal compared to those massive political debates on Reddit—there are just a few trolls running around because they clearly have nothing better to do than stir up trouble with stupid comments. But seriously, punishing the entire community by nuking a whole thread just because of them? It makes zero sense.

Look, like I said before, if people start getting way too intense in a debate, just delete the nonsense if you have to and move on. I think banning should be the absolute last resort after someone’s been given a calm warning first. You can definitely moderate a discussion without jumping straight to that. As for locking threads? Honestly, don't even get me started. It’s completely useless and just kills the conversation.

I’ve actually personally asked the moderator a few times to rethink her approach. I tried explaining that she isn't really handling things the right way—it's pretty obvious she doesn't quite get it and doesn't seem interested in actually moderating—but she couldn't even be bothered to reply. I even told her months ago that I didn't want to start this thread just to complain, but she clearly loves the drama.

That’s exactly why we need a new moderator. Someone who actually knows what they're doing and stays active on the thread. The current setup just makes no sense. This thread needs a mod, not some angry schoolteacher who’s obsessed with policing everyone. 👎

This whole forum needs some fresh moderators
There’s basically nobody running the show over there
And honestly, the current ones—since they clearly don't have the decency to step down themselves—should just be kicked out

I mean, what’s the point of having someone like cd covers as a moderator when the guy hasn't even been on this forum for eight months?

Eight months? Seriously?

Who is actually in charge here?

And then you've got those Fermine types; it's better if they didn't exist at all, because it feels like they're holding positions they aren't actually fulfilling

It really makes you wonder whatever happened to the supermoderator
He's nowhere to be found either. The guy won't even reply to messages

So yeah, the situation is a total disaster
They're only keeping these moderators around just to check a box on the staff list

Come on, get someone in here already
And don't try to pull any stunts, because things literally cannot get any worse than this

If we examine several of the posts listed below:

Is there any actual reason to be angry at the Moderator for locking this thread?

rowdytrucker12 said:If you take a look at some of the posts down there:

Is there really any reason to get worked up at the Moderator just because they closed the thread?

Yes, absolutely.
Because if the Moderator actually did their job, those controversial posts wouldn't even exist in the first place—
they would have been warned, or given a strike, or deleted on time, and users would have been redirected so the discussion could stay on track.
That's what actual moderation looks like.
Instead, we get this mess where nobody is actually managing the topic properly.

Mark Sullivan62 said:Exactly.
If the Moderator actually performed their duties regarding controversial posts, this wouldn't be happening.
The offending content would have been flagged and removed promptly, users would have received warnings, and the discussion would have been steered back toward the actual subject matter.
That is what true moderation looks like.
Instead, we see this current approach, which fails to stay on-topic.

Is it not a complete paradox that the individual responsible for those problematic posts is the very person who started this thread? Shouldn't they be the first one facing sanctions?

It’s funny how this suddenly bothers you. Where were you before? Why haven't you said anything until now? I once dared to tell someone on a completely different PDF that they were talking nonsense, and apparently, I'm just some villain. Is this the thread where you decide to take me on? It isn't. Go troll somewhere else, but leave this place alone.

It's pretty obvious how much you're watching me and how much you care about the "greater good." I already got sanctioned, and honestly, I hope you get a long break too so you can finally chill out.

It’s not a paradox at all. It’s just a standard reaction from someone who actually knows what they're talking about when they see a pile of absolute nonsense left unchecked for too long. I'm not saying every single thing he says is perfect, but look, every action triggers a reaction. If the initial action is a total mess, why on earth would you expect the reaction to be any different? That’s exactly why we have a Moderator.
But honestly, it really isn't 😁

Because from what I've noticed, he’s been banned several times specifically because his reactions were out of line.

Mark Sullivan62 said:It isn't a paradox. It is simply the standard reaction of a professional facing a pile of nonsense that wasn't addressed sooner.

Regarding the claim that "Any AC can cool 16 m2. Buying a Daikin for that job is just about prestige and wasting money," here is how a "professional" responds:

Why? Explain that a bit, specifically regarding his intentions and how he plans to use the unit. Thank you for such a professional and experienced response on your part (after all, you have been in this business for a very long time and know everything there is to know about HVAC).

So, this qualifies as professional commentary?

The comment regarding an AC for 16 m2 is accurate. That is a small space. There is no sense in purchasing a heavy-duty professional unit intended for 16 hours of daily operation.

Mark Sullivan62 said:Hey, you're entitled to your opinion, just like I'm entitled to disagree with it.
The only issue is that about 99% of the people here disagree with you, so if I were in your shoes, I might be a little worried. I get that people challenge my views too, but it's definitely not nearly as much as it happens to you. Anyone who puts an opinion out there has to be ready for people to push back, but there's a limit to how it should be done.

It’s actually those same 99% (about 20 users) hanging out in every thread. They haven't even looked at the evidence I provided, and they don't really grasp what I'm talking about. Just like the Moderator mentioned, they basically gave the Moderator an excuse to cite that reason and give me an unfair partiality rating on the housing project where I do 95% of my posting on SSM, along with some other similar threads.

I’m asking the Moderator to step in and penalize the troll (rowdytrucker12). This is the third time they've spammed this thread with totally random nonsense just to be disruptive. If they actually cared about why I asked my question, they would have gone to the specific thread where I posted it.

And to everyone else on the forum, please don't feel the need to defend me. There's really no point in engaging with trolling questions anyway. His obsession with me and his constant hysterics aren't what this thread is about.

Once again, I'm asking for some moderation here to stop the harassment of this thread and for the troll to be strictly penalized.

Look, from what I can gather by reading through the threads, those twenty folks on this forum clearly have a much better handle on things than you do. When you find yourself being called out by twenty different people at once, you really ought to take a step back and realize you're stuck in a massive minority here—it’s a pretty clear sign that something is fundamentally broken with your logic and your takes.

But hey, if you haven't caught on yet, you aren't actually the subject of this debate, so I'm not sure why you're trying to wedge yourself into the middle of it.
The issue at hand is way more comprehensive than just your specific posts and your little narrow perspectives. From what I've seen, nobody is shedding any tears over the fact that you don't have a place to live.
It’s not like anyone is actually missing you or feeling your absence.

Look, let's please stick to the point and leave the personal drama and other random topics for their own specific PDFs.

The issue here is how poorly our colleague is moderating. She clearly doesn't have a clue about technical subjects (which leads to the same kind of nonsense we see here—people playing dumb and acting like victims when they’re actually just spamming and being obnoxious), she shows zero interest in the topics at hand, she doesn't participate, and she isn't doing her job properly. Like I said, she just isn't putting in the effort to moderate.

When you have someone like rowdytrucker12 on a thread right now, intentionally provoking people and trolling with absolute garbage, and then someone responds in kind, why does that result in bans and the whole thread being locked for 10 days? It's ridiculous.

Banning is never the answer, especially not just to "encourage" discussion. And it's even worse when she shuts down threads while people are actually engaged (which is exactly what she did to those two threads mentioned in this post) until the topic completely dies out, just so she can do less work.

A former Moderator wrote it that way, which is why we're even having these debates about guilt without any actual proof.
I'm not trying to make this about me; I'm just reacting to your demand to have the Moderator replaced.
Being able to express yourself respectfully is key to a decent discussion, and honestly, you could use a little more of that.

Sean Reyes said:I am requesting the Moderator to penalize this troll (rowdytrucker12). This is the third instance of blatant spamming and trolling this thread with completely irrelevant content intended solely to disrupt. If they were actually interested in why I asked my question, they would have inquired within the specific thread where I originally posted it.

I ask all other forum members not to defend me, as there is no need for defense nor for responding to trolling questions. Their fixation on me and their hysteria are not the subject at hand.

Once again, I request that the harassment of this thread be moderated and that the troll be strictly penalized.

You aren't the Moderator. Why should I be penalized? I haven't even been able to post in the thread because it is closed.

Sean Reyes said:Again, let us move away from personal disputes and other topics that belong in their appropriate PDFs.

The issue here is the poor moderation by our colleague. She knows absolutely nothing about technical matters (which leads to similar nonsense in technical threads—where someone plays dumb and acts like a martyr when they are actually just spamming and acting foolishly), she has no interest in the subjects mentioned, she does not participate in them, and she fails to perform her duties as a Moderator. As I stated, she shows no effort to actually moderate.

When we have a user here, such as rowdytrucker12, who intentionally provokes and trolls by posting absolute nonsense, and then that person receives a response in kind, is the solution to hand out bans and lock the thread for ten days? That is absurd.

Banning is never the answer, especially just to encourage more active discussion, and even less so is locking a thread while people are mid-discussion (which is what the Moderator does to the two threads mentioned in this post) until the topic completely dies, simply so she has less work to do.

You attack the Moderator because she "knows nothing about tech," you attack me by calling me a troll, and you attack people who state that a Vivax unit is a fine AC. On the other hand, someone here claimed you were a "professional," so I am curious to see what a true expert would have written:

I would love to see how you would implement such a system in a 540 sq ft apartment.

And yet, the Moderator is the problem?

Keep everything related to this topic right here. Don't post it elsewhere. If you ask me nicely, I might actually consider it.

I don't really remember seeing you around this thread before. You didn't get a chance to chime in because the topic was locked, so now you're just digging up posts from a month ago?
That makes you nothing more than a troll, plain and simple.
What are you even talking about bringing up random AC units when we're supposed to be discussing the Moderator? That's the whole point of this debate.

And there isn't any Moderator around here either.
An entire day goes by, and absolutely nobody from the higher-ups even acknowledges it.
If things keep going like this because of trolls like you, they'll probably just shut this topic down too.

Look, Mark Sullivan62, please don't try to defend me or get dragged into a side argument with him. It’s obvious to everyone what he's doing here. Honestly, I actually appreciate it because he's such a textbook example of the issues we face in the housing and technical subforums. If we can finally deal with this trolling properly, maybe we’ll actually get a real moderator for these threads, which is really the whole point of why I started this. He can get his lessons learned later in the proper thread. Who knows, maybe he'll even learn something and end up being grateful.

I don't really recall seeing you around this thread. You didn't manage to get a word in while the discussion was actually active because the topic was already locked, yet here you are, digging up posts from a month ago.

So? Are the posts from your "expert" colleague actually justified? And tell me, are you also out here advocating for water-cooled AC?

So now we're supposed to believe the moderator is the one at fault?

You are nothing more than a troll.

That troll you call a "professional colleague"—the one you claimed shared your expertise—has been sending me (half)threatening private messages.

Why are you even bringing up climate issues here? This discussion is supposed to be about the moderator, not whatever else you're rambling about.

The discussion regarding climate control was never actually about the AC units themselves; it was an interrogation of how certain brands are being unfairly prioritized.

This is exactly how things start. Because of trolls like this, they’re going to shut this thread down.

I do not send threatening private messages.
