I'm starting this thread specifically for moms of twins so we don't clutter the pregnancy board. 🙂>
Back in the summer of 2018, four pairs of twins were born to mothers who connected here, which I guess made the pregnancy and those first few days a bit easier since they had support. 🙂>
Maybe some other moms will decide to share their own stories too.

I’m not a mom myself, and I don't have twins, but I've gotta ask something.
Basically, there are five sets of twins in my extended family. Does anyone else have twins in their family? And is it actually possible for me to end up having them too, or is that just a total coincidence?😁

My sisters are currently pregnant, so I can't speak from personal experience. I guess they say it follows the maternal line every other generation anyway.

Rachel Palmer56, you've got more chances than someone who doesn't even have family left! 😁
I don't recall seeing any specific inheritance rules floating around, though.

But if there really are that many, there’s probably some truth to it.😁

Just finished the first checkup 🙂
Today marks exactly five weeks and three days. The smaller one is 8.2 lbs and the larger one is 8.8 lbs. They've grown about an inch.
The pediatrician says they’re doing fine and the next visit is in two months. She mentioned we shouldn't overfeed them (they're getting about 4 oz every few hours, roughly seven times a day). We actually went out to a restaurant later since they were being so good, though they cried at the doctor's office. And naturally, they threw up while we were getting ready at home.

So, looking at my own family tree, we actually have five sets of twins scattered throughout our history. It makes me wonder if anyone else here has dealt with that kind of pattern in their lineage—is there really a genetic blueprint for doubling up like that, or am I just playing a high-stakes game of biological roulette?😁

My husband’s got a brother and sister who are twins, and since I don't have any siblings and he doesn't have anyone else besides those two, I figure there aren't really any set rules—it feels like everyone just has an equal shot at having twins. 🙂

They’re exactly 5 weeks and 3 days old today. The little one is sitting at about 8.2 lbs and the bigger one is 8.8 lbs. They've both grown about an inch.
The pediatrician thinks they're doing fantastic and wants to see us back in two months. She warned us we can't overfeed them (they're hitting about 120ml roughly seven times every 24 hours). They were actually such angels that Mom and Dad treated ourselves to a nice dinner out afterward. Of course, once we got home and started getting ready, they decided to throw up.

Way to go, guys! Mine have their next physical in ten days, and I am dying to see what they weigh—they’ve seriously filled out and stretched out, they are just precious!
Colic seems to hit them right around evening every single day now, usually around 6 or 7 PM, but they sleep like a dream through the night. That first stretch of sleep lasts about five hours!
Rebecca Roberts8, that idea about putting flip-flops in the hallway is actually pretty clever; mine can tell immediately when we aren't walking on hilly pavement and we're just relaxing at home, so they don't try to pull those stunts anymore, haha.

My friends all know my boobs tend to sag a bit, but honestly, they seem to be getting more obsessed with them by the day; I guess they just find some sort of soothing comfort there, and even though I used to swear up and down that I’d never let anyone use me as a pacifier, of course, I end up doing absolutely everything to make sure they stay calm, haha.

I guess I went on a bit of a tangent there. Just one more thing regarding the nasal congestion—every day, I drip a little saline into each nostril and then use a manual suction bulb to clear out all those nasty little clogs. They aren't fond of the process, but it’s over quickly, and you can literally see the relief wash over their faces once that gunk is finally gone. I picked up some Babylove pumps from CVS, and honestly, they've been a lifesaver!

I’m heading to Target 🙂
It's nice that you wrote all that out; I guess you feel a bit relieved after venting. How much do yours eat in one sitting?

Mine get cramps during the night. Both of them tonight. In the end, warm compresses helped the most. We picked up that cherry stone pillow from Target.
Every night we think we've finally found the solution, but maybe it's just wishful thinking.
In the morning they are wonderful and everything is forgotten 🙂
Mine's clear now, but since there's no pain, we're leaving it alone for now. I hope the lack of pain isn't because I'm still on antibiotics.
I have an appointment with my OBGYN this afternoon. I'm hoping to get cleared for the beach, even though I'm still using drops.
P.s. mine already have their favorite little song: dudie, dudice from Phantom

Haha, you hear that little tune around here too! lol😁
Yeah, I was actually over at the pediatrician’s yesterday and gave them the green light for everything😉, everything is right on track and I've recovered beautifully. Thank God.
Feeding is such a toss-up; usually, they take about 4 ounces (which is basically 90mL of water plus the powder bumping it up to 100mL), but late at night they might only take 2 ounces before drifting back to sleep, and we do that twice. I’m really hoping that’s a sign they’ll soon transition to just one wake-up call—or better yet, none at all🙂
Then there are those nights where they’ll polish off 5.5 ounces; honestly, there’s no rhyme or reason to it... it just depends on how much sleep they got beforehand, if we went for a walk, or if they had a bath earlier. Most often, they’ll have a solid 4.5-ounce feeding right before their first real sleep around 10 or 11 PM, followed by another big meal in the morning. Everything in between is just whenever the mood strikes them.
We also give them some Hipp organic fennel tea if I get the feeling they’re crying because they're thirsty rather than hungry. At first, they couldn't stand the taste—they'd make these hilarious little sour faces—but now they gulp it down quite nicely, maybe about an ounce at a time. I tend to offer it every other day or so, depending on how I read them.

They're eating more now. It was 7 doses of 120ml and 3 times a day for the eye drops. Now they've dropped to 6 doses and they go once a day.
Luckily their systematic check went great, since my own follow-ups aren't. Mine came back clear too. It's at 4cm now, down from 6cm last time. They didn't biopsy it because the fluid inside is thin. I guess they won't touch it until it starts hurting. Right now, I just feel it.
The gum check wasn't perfect either. I have to go back in three weeks. If it doesn't clean up completely, I'll probably need a curettage. I got permission to go to the beach. We were there around noon. They were grabbing coffee while I went for a swim.🙂

I’ve been averaging about 24 to 27 ounces a day for roughly two weeks now.
I'm crossing my fingers that everything just clears up for you! It will happen, and things will settle down. As for that cleanser, I really hope it isn't causing too much irritation... if it is, can you just insist they remove it regardless of what the staff thinks?
And that sounds lovely regarding the spa trip—I'd love to join.
Oh, and on a side note, I have quite a few stretch marks, and the hyperpigmentation hasn't faded yet; unfortunately, the marks don't seem to be going anywhere either. Does anyone have any actual advice for dealing with them, or am I just destined to wear one-piece swimsuits for the rest of my life? :/

Check out this find... though honestly, the price tag is absolutely criminal. I think I might have to start hunting for someone special to drop a hint about this being the ultimate gift.

Finally managed to get into this thread. Reddit on my phone is acting up—links won't open, and the browser keeps crashing. It's maddening.
Kudos to the guys for the update. Rebecca Roberts8, less praise for your review, but it’ll do. At least you finally got that swimming permit.
Our first checkup is this April 20th; they'll be almost a month old then. We still have the scale the home health nurse left behind. Both have gained 3 lbs. In the three weeks since leaving the hospital, they've put on over 600g, one even hit 750g! They're eating about 80-90mL seven times a day. Still just one formula feeding; I manage to breastfeed the rest. Thank God they've calmed down a bit lately.
One is incredibly chill and sleeps most of the time—he's the one who gained 750g in three weeks. The other is much more active and restless, and he really struggles when he needs to poop; he gets cramps and cries sometimes. Cycling his legs and light massages helped, but it's happening less often now, so we might try some drops to ease things along. That one is sensitive—constant diaper rash and breakouts on his face. As for the second one? It's like he isn't even there; nothing seems to bother him.

Look what I stumbled upon. It’s overpriced as hell. Maybe I'll just wait for someone to buy it for me as a gift.

Clara, good luck if you actually manage to carry both at once. My back would probably give out. They claim it's ergonomic and weightless, but I highly doubt it. I'm still leaning toward the two-carrier option—one for Mom, one for Dad.😛

We bought a carrier, but my knee hurts whenever the baby is in it. That’s why I keep mentioning swimming; using fins is probably the best fix for this. If I had two in there, I couldn't handle it. Just seeing how tiny they are when I put them in the carrier makes me think some mom bigger than me could probably carry two without an issue. At least while they're still this small.
Emily Garcia10, they've grown so much. And just how much milk do you have? 🙂 Mine eat the most but get the least. I mentioned they poop too much, but they also use up too much. When they're awake, it's because of the cramps and their legs just won't stop moving. It's like they're on batteries.
There is no point in touching my breast right now because her behavior makes no sense due to the hormones. Once things settle down, they will either puncture her again or remove the pure KeraStat. Frequent punctures don't make sense since she'd need antibiotics whenever they touch her. A puncture is a procedure.
My stomach is dark, almost like I'm Black. I only had a single line before giving birth. Then it stretched out. There is a similar line on my legs, but smaller. Early on, even I thought it was just dirt. I haven't noticed stretch marks, though I wasn't looking. I don't apply anything because we all know how little time we have to wait for cream to dry. Maybe I'll start using Bio-Oil since I still have some.
You know what my pediatrician told me? It's great our kids were born in the summer. They have a chance to get through those first few months without viruses and stuff, and by the time winter hits, they'll be bigger. When things get hard like tonight—since they were impossible from 7 PM to 1 AM and then again from 4 AM to 5 AM—it helps to think it can't get worse than this (worse would be if they were sick, too). Yesterday, from noon to 4 PM, we were at the beach (in a cafe and in the shade). They were better behaved than other people's kids. They just ate and slept. Once we get home, they act possessed. I'm thinking about not taking them out anymore; maybe they'll behave better at home.
