Sorry, maybe this is a bit off-topic, so I apologize. I actually found the monitor I'm looking for at this online store

https://www.bestbuy.com/

But, well, I don't know them, and the price isn't exactly small either. I'm planning to use a financing plan, so they need me to pay upfront instead of using cash on delivery... Does anyone have experience with this shop? Are they reliable? 🤔

Other retailers don't seem to have this specific monitor in stock at all (LG27GL850)

Grab a magnifying glass and hold it up to your monitor. Then you'll see exactly what watching stuff in FHD on a 27" display looks like.

The decent monitor I picked up is now $567IPS WQHD

I finally picked up a decent monitor, and it’s actually performing quite well. $567 If you're looking at IPS WQHD, you're essentially deciding on the sweet spot for modern displays.
The Philips 27" monitor just hit the market, and it’s looking like a solid option if you need something reliable for a professional setup. It packs a QHD resolution, which provides plenty of screen real estate for multitasking without feeling cramped, and since it comes with FHD support, it handles standard content perfectly fine too. The build quality feels sturdy enough for an office environment, and the color accuracy is decent for most day-to-day tasks. If you're looking to upgrade a workstation or just need a dependable display that won't break the bank, this one is worth keeping on your radar.

What exactly is missing from a 27-inch 1080p monitor?😁 Honestly, what kind of idiot looks for individual pixels when they’re using screen magnification anyway?

This has nothing to do with PC monitors, but the sheer scale of human stupidity—specifically when it comes to marketing—is truly boundless; take, for instance, the decision to cram a 1440p resolution onto a tiny 6.5-inch smartphone screen.

To put it simply, a 27-inch 1080p monitor works perfectly fine, and even a 32-inch 1080p setup—assuming you're using a TV as a display—is totally acceptable as long as you aren't squinting at the screen from twenty inches away looking for pixel defects. Unless you're doing professional photo editing or something where high resolution is actually a requirement, sticking with a 27-inch 1080p screen is as straightforward and uncomplicated as drinking a glass of water. We don't even need to talk about HTPC setups, where people hook a computer up to massive 1080p TVs and nobody seems to have an issue with it. My neighbor has one of those older Philips Ambilight 50/1080 p TVs hooked up to his PC, and he isn't even thinking about upgrading. He isn't interested in falling for all that marketing hype claiming you can't get anything done without 4K resolution.

I've been staring at a 27-inch 1080p monitor for years now, and honestly, I don't feel even the slightest urge to reach for a magnifying glass. Am I losing my mind, or is this actually normal?.🤔

And there you have it—the culprit behind it all.🙂 I honestly don't know where he gets off thinking he can actually pull this one, or what kind of logic leads someone to believe that using a 32-inch 1080p TV as a desktop monitor is anything other than a complete disaster.🍿

I’ve spent some time looking over this video, and honestly, it hits on several points that I find quite compelling, even if the presentation is a bit more polished than what we usually see in these types of discussions. There’s a certain level of nuance here regarding hardware performance that often gets lost in the noise of mainstream tech reviews, where everyone seems to be chasing the same headline numbers without actually considering how these components behave under sustained load in a real-world American gaming setup. It isn't just about peak benchmarks; it's about the stability and the thermal management of the system over a long session, which is something most people overlook until their frame rates start dipping mid-match. I think there’s a valid argument to be made for the specific configurations being discussed, provided you aren't someone who expects bleeding-edge performance out of entry-level gear. It’s a decent deep dive, though I’d still argue that a bit more scrutiny regarding long-term driver stability would have made it truly exceptional.

Just wanted to let you know that I finally pulled the trigger on the Aorus fi27q-p. It's great; Quake Champions feels like a completely different game now.

I guess the takeaway is that 1440p is actually worth the extra money. The image is way sharper compared to 1080p, more detail, less eye strain... I'm satisfied.

This one has the best color accuracy you're going to find at this price point.

Grabbed it. Thanks for the tip—I'm beyond happy with it!

This isn't even about PC monitors, but man, human stupidity—especially when it comes to marketing—is bottomless. Like seeing 1440p resolution shoved onto a tiny 6.5-inch smartphone screen.

Let me be blunt: a 27-inch 1080p monitor is perfectly fine. Even a 32-inch 1080p setup (if you're using a TV as a monitor) works great, unless you're trying to stare at it from 10 inches away looking for dust. If you aren't doing pro photo editing where high res actually matters, 27-inch 1080p is as basic and essential as a glass of water. Don't even get me started on HTPC setups, where people hook a computer up to big 1080p TVs and nobody bats an eye. My neighbor down the street has an older Philips Ambilight 50/1080 p TV hooked up to his rig right now. The guy doesn't feel the need to run out and buy a new TV just because some marketing hype says "you can't live without 4K."

I've been staring at a 27-inch 1080p monitor for years, and I don't own a magnifying glass, nor do I need one. Am I crazy?.🤔

Anyway, here's the absolute criminal,🙂 the guy who actually thinks it's a good idea to use a 32-inch 1080p TV as a PC monitor.🍿

Sorry, but you don't need a magnifying glass for 27-inch 1080p; it comes standard with the resolution 😒

On a 32-inch monitor, this guy is claiming the text is super sharp. Honestly, I kind of want to reply and ask him if he forgot to put his glasses on.

I am looking for some solid monitor recommendations. I’m currently putting together a desktop build specifically for 1440p gaming, though I'll also be using it to watch movies from time to time. A 27-inch screen is my ideal size, provided it hits at least 144Hz. Up until now, I’ve always stuck with IPS panels, but I honestly have no idea how the other panel types stack up when it comes to a mix of cinematic viewing and high-performance gaming. As for the internals, I’ll be running an RTX 2080 Super or an RTX 2080 paired with an Intel i7-9700K. Since I plan on picking up an ASUS motherboard and GPU, I am debating whether it makes sense to stick with an ASUS monitor as well to keep everything consistent. Any advice?

Hey guys, I need some monitor recommendations 🙂
I'm mostly looking for something around $500 inches... honestly, anything bigger than 24" feels like overkill for what I need..
The PC is just for browsing the web and watching movies—checking Best Buy or maybe grabbing some stuff from an online shop based out of Indianapolis. I'll probably just pay cash at the store when I pick it up.
It’s going into this rig I picked up about two years ago... I think Halek was the one who put the whole thing together for me..

1x Intel Pentium G4560 Processor, 3500 MHz, Kaby Lake, Socket 1151
1x GIGABYTE B250M-DS3H Motherboard, Socket 1151, DDR4, VGA, DVI, HDMI
1x 4 GB PATRIOT DDR4 Memory, 2400 MHz, DIMM, CL15
1x 1 TB Hard Drive, Toshiba P300, 3.5", 7200 rpm, SATA III, HDWD110UZSVA
1x FORTRON Hexa Plus Power Supply, 400W, 80+, active, 12cm
1x MS Industrial CYCLOPS III Case, gaming, no power supply included
2x XILENCE Black & Red Case Fan, 120mm, black-red (one intake in front, one exhaust in back)

You don't need to blow your entire budget just to get the job done.

A friend of mine picked this one up the other day and he's absolutely loving it.

Depending on the retailer, you can actually extend the warranty for up to $13 5 years.

I mean, sure, he could go with that one, but it’s definitely not my speed. That setup is more for an old acquaintance of mine—he's well into his 50s... honestly, that kind of rig is plenty for him since all he really does is scroll through the news and watch movies.

Hey, crimsonstag84 (sorry, had to say it) 😬 can I pair that RAM with this Patriot stick I've got? They don't necessarily have to be identical brands, right?

Thanks guys, picked everything up on Friday 🙂
The RAM wasn't quite what I thought, they gave us some Kingston instead, and the last monitor was... whatever.
They had the SSD in stock, all together with an extended warranty for about $1,500 and change

Is this actually a decent monitor for the price? It looks like a bit of a steal if you can snag it for under $200, I guess. 🤔

Fair enough. I wouldn't go so far as to call it an absolute steal, though. There are plenty of other options out there with nearly identical specs—like that one I mentioned earlier which actually comes with a 5-year warranty. Also, if you're looking at that 1ms response time as a major selling point, don't fall for it; it's mostly just marketing fluff. Honestly, it doesn't matter much unless the monitor hits that 144Hz refresh rate.

I’ve been working on laptops for so long now that I feel a bit out of the loop when it comes to monitors, all the latest tech, and specific hardware specs. 😁

That one you linked above is sitting at Best Buy for around $110, which seems like a pretty solid deal for that price point. https://www.bestbuy.com/monitor-dell-s...-vga-hdmi.aspx

In the meantime, this other one has also kind of caught my eye, I guess. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/monitor-24-5...black-100300274.

Not that other one. A TN panel just isn't worth the premium you'd be paying here.

Do you happen to have any other suggestions or maybe an alternative to that Dell for around $333?

I ended up pulling the trigger on that Dell after all. After spending way too much time digging through various US retailers, I just couldn't find anything that felt like a meaningful step up in the sub-$150 range, and this one was sitting right at $105. I guess any real upgrade wouldn't even start to matter until you're looking at spending closer to $200 or more.

Exactly, there really isn't a better way to go. Moving up to a 144Hz monitor would be a massive step up.
