I remember bugging my mom about when I’d finally start preschool, and I remember tons of stuff from daycare. I remember the first day of elementary school—one of my buddies had these awesome sneakers. Then on my first day of high school, I showed up late and walked in looking like a total idiot.
I’ve got nothing else, sorry.
I remember some college girls holding me on their laps when I was little, telling me how cute I was. I remember dancing with this little girl at a party when I was maybe four or five. I remember this guy in a movie theater when I was a kid offering me cigarettes while he grilled his girlfriend about which one of us kids was the cutest, and she picked me. I remember this one kid at the beach who used to catch snakes and throw them at the other kids. I remember this absolutely stunning girl once handing me a piece of paper and a pen with the sweetest smile ever. I even remember this hacker guy from high school I ran into while we were smoking in the bathroom. There's more, but that's probably enough. 🙂

I can still smell freshly cut hay in the summer; whenever that scent hits me, I’m instantly a kid again 🙂
The smell of a wood-burning fireplace (hardly see that anymore nowadays)—it always brings my old piano teacher to mind 🕺
The smell of cigarette smoke in apartments or cars; that was just the reality I grew up with 🕺
The smell of plucked chicken—for some reason, that’s exactly what my dog smells like when he’s soaking wet from the rain or a swim in the lake 🤣
Whenever I catch a whiff of gas, I freak out immediately 😳 We once had to be evacuated from my elementary school because of a gas leak somewhere nearby 😳
My grandmother’s scent—just the smell of basic, plain soap (honestly, I don't even know how to describe it properly 🤔). I notice that same scent on older people who are incredibly meticulous 🙂

- That smell of Grandma’s homemade chicken noodle soup—man, nothing beats it. 🙂
- Or the smell of fresh laundry... back when my mom would finish all that washing and folding over the weekend 🙂 it was basically the olfactory signal that Sunday was ending and it was time to get back to school on Monday. 😁
- Then there’s the smell of smoke—that's a mixed bag of memories, ranging from a little bonfire at the family cabin up to actual forest fires and stuff like that...
- And then... certain perfumes worn by women... 🙂
- The smell of rivers, too. I grew up near a few different ones and walked them all the time 🙂 they all hit differently because every river has its own vibe.
- The smell of the ocean... specifically that early morning salt air. 🙂
- The smell of snow—that crisp, clean scent.
Hmm... let me think... also some smells from Grandma's or Mom's kitchen, or the scent of Grandpa's smoked bacon...

I tend to remember the people I meet while traveling. Especially when I'm on a train.
Anyone else still haunted by old dreams that stuck with them years later? I’m talking about those vivid ones that feel more like actual memories than just random brain noise.

I still remember back when we were in first grade at Lincoln Elementary School, we used to absolutely flood our teacher with orchids... she’d literally head home with several bags overflowing with them...🤔
