Honestly, after seeing how weak the opening weekend was, I totally wrote this one off as a massive flop. Such a bummer, too, because on paper it looked like a decent, breezy summer comedy—you know, some hot girls, a few laughs, and obviously starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who can pretty much carry any dumb movie or at least make it slightly better than it should be.

But then, man, it actually caught me off guard. Even though it struggled with a measly $57,247,747 here in the USA, it pulled in a solid $94,900,000 overseas, with Germany leading the pack at $13,737,337.

So, the total haul ended up being a respectable $152,147,747.

Since the budget for a comedy was sitting high at $69 million, the movie actually managed to turn a profit. We all know that magic math equation where you take the budget, add a big enough chunk, and boom—profit.

It makes sense that it did better internationally, though. Baywatch was huge back in the 90s over in Germany, and David Hasselhoff is still an absolute legend there. Back in its prime, that show had over a billion viewers worldwide. It’s only logical people still remember it, even if I wish this flick had been an even bigger smash.

This looks like a recipe for disaster to me 🤣
It was supposed to be a lighthearted comedy—heavy on the eye candy, just the way American audiences typically prefer—but given how much they botched it over there...
I suppose "The Rock" might have intimidated them a bit 🤣

The whole movie is basically one big, mindless joke.
It’s actually kind of fun if you go in with absolutely zero expectations.
But man, it is way too long. That last half hour felt like total filler.

Plus, there's just constant nudity everywhere 😲, which is awkward considering how many seven or eight-year-olds end up in theaters. 😁

Man, Baywatch was hands down one of my absolute favorite shows growing up; it was just such a blast and totally defined my childhood years.
Just like how that one monkey kept trying to knock Pamela out cold 🤣

As far as this movie goes, I'm really just looking for a lighthearted, fun flick that borrows the concept, so I'm not expecting it to be some deep remake of the original series—though hey, maybe it'll turn out to be a slick, modernized version of the show... I guess I'll find out once I actually sit down to watch it.

Well, personally, I'm expecting at least one pair of boobs to show up! 😁

A naked guy? Is he like, "over my head in my pants," you little monkey? Haha, okay, that was a rhyme. 😁 They might as well have shown off a "pizza pie" too, even if it was a little hairy. 😁

This is one of those movies that honestly should have stayed unmade. It just goes to show how much greed can drive certain people to make bad calls.
It’s the perfect thing to put on after you’ve had a massive meal and just want to zone out. You pop this on when you don't want your brain to do any heavy lifting because all your energy is busy digesting that food. 🤣

I honestly can’t recall the last time I sat through such an absolute train wreck of a movie. It completely fails to capture even a shred of the original series' essence, feeling more like some low-budget, straight-to-video action flick from the nineties. The dialogue is painful to listen to, and the acting? Even worse. It is quite frankly an unmitigated disaster.

To me, this feels less like an actual cinematic adaptation and more like some low-budget parody of the show. It’s completely disconnected from the original material—honestly, just a total disaster of a movie.

You saw the poster, you watched the trailer, and you knew exactly what kind of ride you were signing up for.
The movie itself is pretty mediocre, but hey, if you've got absolutely nothing better to do, it’s worth a look.

It killed it in certain spots—like, it pulled in 18 mil in Germany, even though it only grabbed about $58 million across the whole USA and Canada.

Honestly, I've seen way worse movies pull in bigger numbers. If this thing had a tighter budget and didn't go head-to-head with Pirates of the Caribbean, it could've been a decent summer flick. Maybe not a massive hit, but definitely wouldn't have flopped.

It’s basically just a lot of skin and some questionable choices... honestly, it's a pretty tired old story about drugs, and while the acting wasn't terrible, the series itself hasn't really been anything special lately. This one was just okay, I guess. But man, what really let me down were those CGI effects—the burning ship looked super cheap, like, I swear the graphics in Driver on my old PlayStation 1 actually looked better than this! And don't even get me started on the fireworks. It felt like two hours of my life I'll never get back, though 😁 (and probably most guys out there, if we're being real) might find something to enjoy about it.

What are you even talking about? If anything, I wish it was even longer.
The movie was awesome, super fun and everything, a solid 5/5.
I honestly wish they'd start filming the series again.

The movie is just pure fun trash. Wasn't looking for anything deep.
