How to stop files from opening automatically in Windows Media Player

How do I stop my computer from trying to open files with Windows Media Player? I tried to open a ZIP file and it asked me what program to use, so I clicked Notepad and then Windows Media Player by mistake. Now it keeps defaulting to Windows Media Player every single time, which obviously doesn't work...
It's just some file with an .ls extension.

Which version of Windows are you running? Honestly, it might be worth heading into the Control Panel, going under Programs, and clicking "Set as default." If you reset everything back to the factory settings there, that should hopefully clear up the issue with the program.

Windows 10, obviously.

I'm trying to open a compressed file containing firmware for a DVD burner downloaded from this site. Once the ZIP file is extracted, it asks me which program to use:
