It truly breaks my heart to see how obvious it’s becoming that the Fernando Formanov film doesn't stand a chance here; when you look at the lineup, isn't it clearly the most high-quality selection available? And if we were considering his other work, wouldn't Hair have been an even stronger contender had it been on the table?
I find myself leaning toward voting for him as well, because if he loses, I suppose all I'm left with is The Godfather.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
I have to admit, I’m a bit of a weirdo. I actually slept through my first viewing of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The second time, I only made it halfway. It took three tries before I finally sat through the whole thing.
I have this feeling that I’m mostly drawn to the movies I fall asleep during on the first watch. 😁

Ladies pick. 😉
Hard call since they're basically equal quality, just different vibes... maybe your username tipped the scales toward The Godfather and Brand... 😁
If I had to pick three all-time favorites right now, they'd be from totally different places: Bresov's "Mouchette" (1967), Bogdanovichev's "The Last Picture Show" (1971), and Shindov's "Onibaba" (1964). Too bad some of those weren't in the running
Btw, cool game. 👍

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) Battle of the Blockbusters: 2001: A Space Odyssey vs. The Godfather. It’s a heavy hitter matchup right here. You’ve got one that’s all about the cosmic void and psychological trips, and the other is just pure, gritty storytelling perfection. Honestly? Hard to pick a winner when both are basically the gold standard for their genres. One makes you stare at the ceiling questioning existence, the other makes you want to take over the family business. Total toss-up.
