Why on earth is that subforum being left completely unmoderated? Lately, it’s become a breeding ground for users who do nothing but derail discussions and get incredibly toxic with everyone they talk to.

And no, before you suggest it—as someone who actually finds value in reading the data from that PDF—simply dropping links to specific insults isn't going to cut it. I shouldn't have to provide a roadmap for a moderator to click a few posts and then just disappear into the night.

We need someone actually active in there. Someone who can recognize that seeing the same piece of misinformation spammed thirty times just to sabotage a thread is a much bigger issue than the guy who finally snaps and tells the original poster to go jump in a lake after the thirtieth time.

I find myself in agreement with my colleague here. On a related note, I’d like to point out that the PDF section for unmoderated social science remains quite a mess; if you truly can't find anyone to step up and moderate, consider my application. However, I’ll only volunteer on one condition: that you lift the partial restrictions on the Food & Dining subforum, seeing as you aren't even paying your moderators.

During the previous selection process for this sub-forum's moderator, you chose to turn a deaf ear to the community's recommendations—specifically those suggesting candidates who have consistently demonstrated high-quality contributions, civil discourse, and a lack of controversy. Instead, you saw fit to impose a particular individual upon us, a decision that was met with a rather triumphant sense of self-importance on your part. Fast forward a few months, and the state of this section is nothing short of neglected. As many of us have already observed, the overall caliber of discussion here is on a steady downward trajectory, regardless of how much the administration chooses to maintain its silence regarding the decline...

It’s been six days since I opened this thread, and I haven't even gotten a simple "we're working on it, hang tight" response.

What's the hold-up? Honestly, if you guys can't manage to pick someone, we'll just start suggesting names of people who actually have the competence to handle the position.

From what I can gather about how the appeals process works, they basically wait for the moderator to weigh in first before passing it up the chain to someone higher up. But since he’s nowhere to be found on the site, I’m honestly not sure how this is going to play out.
