Remembering Chester Bennington (1976–2017)

I was just a middle schooler back in the mid-2000s—do you think I should mention how everyone used to scrawl Linkin Park lyrics all over their lockers? 😁

And being one of four siblings, man... it just hits me right in the feels.

Lately, I've just been feeling kind of Numb, so I figured I'd leave a little tribute right here too...

I don't know why, but this really caught me off guard. I guess I'm still stuck in that era where tracks like Crawling were massive hits and Chester looked like he was barely twenty in his music videos.

Man, I was just at their show three weeks ago... after listening to them for 17 years straight. To get hit with news like this right after? It's a massive shock. A really heavy blow...😢

It feels like a piece of my youth was just ripped away from me.

I’m honestly just so sad. Linkin Park was hands down my favorite band back in high school. I used to treat myself to their original albums all the time; I never felt bad about spending my allowance on them.

My biggest childhood crush listened to LP, so that’s how I got into them and ended up loving them so much. I’d always jump to defend them against any critics. And I had such a huge crush on Chester specifically... this news today just completely shocked me and hit me hard.

First kisses, those first touches in smoky clubs, falling in love, that first joint, and that specific feeling in your stomach... they remind me of all of it. R. I. P. Chester. You hold a special place in my heart. I've been crying all night. 😢

I still remember when it first dropped. Hybrid TheoryI was just a kid back then, right at the end of elementary school, when my friend managed to get their hands on their first album. It was so good that they ended up lending it to everyone in our group. That was the moment I fell for them, and honestly, I’m still listening today.

This one really hit home... I've been listening to them since I was a little kid, back before I could even wrap my head around English, but I definitely knew "Crawling" was my absolute favorite 🕺

Is it just me, or is the timing of him passing on Chris Cornell's birthday just incredibly heavy? Especially since he'd made it so clear how much his death affected him...

I’m hoping that one day soon I’ll be able to accept that I’ll never hear your voice or see you perform again, but right now? I just can't. Honestly, I think it's too early to say anything because the rest of the band still needs to process everything that happened—that kind of healing doesn't happen overnight, if it happens at all. They could always release old recordings, but as for continuing without Chester... I don't know, it feels unlikely.
I haven't been able to wrap my head around it since I read the news. I didn't think the death of a celebrity would hit me this hard, but for me, Linkin Park wasn't just some random band.

I've been thinking about it, and even if they decide to find a new singer, I honestly have no clue who could ever step into those shoes. 😢

I just realized recently that I've been listening to them since the very beginning—all 17 years they've been around. For me, this really feels like a tragedy.

One of my absolute favorites is Final Mascarade. I know, weird choice. But when you're at a concert and they start playing, every single song hits so hard that they all become your favorite in that moment. It was truly an incredible feeling, and I'm just glad I got the chance to experience it.
