How to tether my phone to my laptop

Not sure if this title works.
Anyway, I’ve got unlimited data on my Verizon plan (using an iPhone 6s). I really want to be able to share that connection with my computer. I have this old VIP Huawei USB stick lying around from about 9 years ago, but I'm pretty sure it won't work for this...
What should I pick up so I can actually tether to my phone? (I know I need to turn on the hotspot feature first).

Exactly. You just need a network card like the one in that first link—doesn't matter the brand, as long as it has an antenna to pick up the Wi-Fi signal. Usually, the drivers come on a CD included with the device. Once you've got the card installed, just turn on the hotspot on your phone and look for your iOS network on the computer. Pro tip: definitely make sure to set a password for your hotspot 😉

you can find a method for USB tethering at this link. To put it simply—you connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable and enable the USB tethering option found in the settings—just like the screenshots at the bottom of the page show. Your computer will essentially use your phone as its "antenna." As far as I am aware, you can still use the data on your phone simultaneously. If you actually want internet access on both devices over a wider range—beyond the reach of a USB cable—then you'll just have to buy a dedicated hotspot and apply the first method described.
