Can a mod help me out with a quick clarification?

Hey, can someone explain why a thread on the IRS forums got locked by some lady who’s married but crushing on some guy she isn't with? The title was something like "I'm married, he's married, but we wish we weren't." Or close to it. Basically, this user was posting about her attraction to a guy who wasn't her husband, and we were all just following the drama. Then, out of nowhere, the mods shut it down because two different groups of women started fighting in the comments. I don't get the logic—why lock a thread that actually has decent engagement and quality content?🤔

Alright, I figured I’d throw my two cents into this whole mess too. Just a heads-up though—don't even bother addressing me, Grace Sanders24 or Angela Cruz52, because I’ve got them both on ignore and I really have zero interest in sinking down to their level of... whatever that is.
Basically, this thread turned into a glorified group chat almost immediately after it went live. And look, anyone who’s been around the IRS forums knows we had that one specific chat thread for cheaters once, and let me tell you, it was a total disaster. It constantly, and I mean *constantly*, attracted all sorts of weirdos and creeps, and eventually, it became pretty obvious that a thread like that just doesn't belong on a forum like this.
On top of that, Angela Cruz52 was being incredibly rude to anyone who didn't agree with her—basically trying to kick people out of the thread and acting like some spoiled brat, demanding that only the "supporters" of her massive ego be allowed to post.
But hey, even that wasn't enough for them.
The thread would go dead for like two weeks, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, there’d be a post from Bell, Grace Sanders24, or whoever else, just going back to their usual routine of insulting the "evil trolls" living on the forum. And why? All because some of us weren't exactly thrilled that Bell was calling her long-distance crush a "hag."
They were even dropping links to these stupid YouTube videos that had absolutely nothing to do with what we were talking about.
As things kept moving along, the whole thread just got more and more obnoxious, filled with people shouting at imaginary enemies.
Plus, the spam, the off-topic nonsense, and the trolling... it never seemed to end.
If you want proof, just look at how Angela Cruz52 and Grace Sanders24 are behaving in the current active threads over at the IRS—they’re still doing the same thing: veering off-topic, insulting imaginary haters, and constantly pointing fingers at the moderators and the site admin.
Personally, I’m all for a good debate or some heated discussion, but what these two are doing isn't that—it’s just straight-up rude, arrogant trolling and pure hate.
In my opinion, this thread needs to stay locked because, honestly, it looks like they're just going to keep doing the exact same thing over and over.
I really hope the mods take a look at the history here and give them a formal warning for their behavior and for breaking the forum rules.

So, my love is back on this thread even though I’ve straight-up ignored her! How did you even find this topic again? Honestly, whatever. Go ahead and keep insulting me if it makes you feel better. Blame me for the shitty IRS situation all you want. But that's not even the point here. If the OP politely asked you to stop commenting on her thread, why are you still hanging around? Why do you need to read a discussion involving people who have muted you? Nobody even mentioned your name until you showed up to push your own little agenda. Trust me, you aren't that important to anyone else. Just to me. And I love you. But that doesn't really matter in this context. I'm asking one of the neutral moderators to explain why this thread was locked in the first place. 🍿

Those old ladies weren't insulting anyone? As far as I can recall—and I don't remember things quite as "precisely" as the person writing above—I haven't insulted a single soul.
I was the one being insulted, and I did a pretty damn good job defending myself.
Those old ladies were the ones trolling. But when they troll, it's just a joke to them, right? But the second anyone else trolls, suddenly it's a violation of the forum rules.

The truth is, this thread was huge. It had massive engagement because of everyone involved. It was fun and lighthearted, no matter how hard some people tried to wreck it.
They didn't wreck it; they just shut it down.

Maybe there's a lesson in knowing when to walk away, knowing when to stop while you're still ahead...
But reading through someone else's nonsense just so you can report them and get them banned...

Actually, I'm heading to the library today to drop off a book because it was boring as hell. Time to find something new.

By the way, I heard nimbleowl6 is jealous of me because I'm young and actually fun to be around. Honestly, who knows if there's any truth to that.

So, after that warning on page 67, the whole thread just went off the rails with about thirty more pages of pure nonsense and random chatter before they finally shut it down... plus, like, a hundred posts had to be nuked.
