Prometheus error is back at it again, deleting posts and insulting people.
Plus, there’s a post where they call me and another user idiots, even though we usually follow all the rules here. It’s been sitting there for days without anyone doing anything. #stopbriskhound2 #trump

On a different thread, they’re trashing film critics, yet they seem to be writing their own little reviews. #gofigure

I know complaining won't change much. #protectthepeace But I'll say it anyway.

I might have thought he was being hypocritical before. Maybe he actually is and I’m just missing it, but look—he even left your post where you were trolling that user without even issuing a ban.

In the case of the Prometheus error, his failure was not sanctioning that provocation from a four-year-old video right at the start. If he had, he could have shut down that entire mess before it spiraled, preventing a cycle that's destined to repeat itself.

The Prometheus error was that he didn't sanction that four-year-old video provocation right at the start. He should have shut down that garbage immediately before it spiraled into this mess that just keeps happening.

What does the year of the video even have to do with anything?
I saw him for the first time. It was a totally new experience for me.
And then we got into it.
The insults have started again, just like always. It’s people being toxic toward those who aren't even forcing anyone to engage with these topics if they don't want to.

Edward Price6 said:What does the release year have to do with anything?
It was my first time seeing it, so it was a new experience for me.
After that, we started debating it.
And then, as usual, the insults started flying—and it’s always from people who aren't even being forced to read this topic if they don't want to.

The entire point of the video was to tell the so-called haters to back off because apparently, after all these years, public opinion on the film is suddenly shifting. That is simply untrue. Either that, or the video was just old and irrelevant, which even the original poster admitted they overlooked.

You practically invited the insults by posting that video, knowing full well it would ignite a fire over a subject that has been chewed over a million times already. You know you won't achieve anything except raising tensions, let alone sparking a high-quality debate. And then you act like victims. 👏

Now, should individuals on both sides have been penalized? In my opinion, yes, though I am not a moderator. If it were up to me, I would have nipped those pointless, inflammatory arguments in the bud and wiped all the posts immediately.

You basically asked for this by posting that video. You knew it would just stir the pot on a topic we've already debated to death. It’s not going to spark a real conversation; it just ramps up the tension. And then you act like the victim. 👏

Should individuals on both sides have been penalized? In my opinion, yes. I’m not a moderator, though. If it were up to me, I'd shut down those pointless arguments right away and just delete all the posts.

I agree, that’s exactly where the issue lies. They wipe out any dissenting views—you probably didn't even see half of them. Meanwhile, they leave all the hate speech up. This thread stays like this because briskhound2 is constantly making a scene. I miss the days when the catatonic beaver and Smoogj were around; they actually kept things objective.

I find it quite refreshing and genuinely commendable that this topic remains such a vibrant point of contention even after all these years; by all means, let the debate rage on.
My sole grievance lies with the die-hard fans who, through both subtle jabs and blatant condescension, persistently attempt to question the intelligence of any critic who simply found the film lacking or the screenplay fundamentally nonsensical.

David Richardson67 said:Honestly, I’m totally here for it. It’s actually pretty awesome that this topic is still getting heated after all this time. Let the people argue—let them go at it. I'm just glad the conversation hasn't died out yet.
The only thing that really gets under my skin with these "lovers" is how they constantly try to play mind games with the haters. It’s like, give me a break. They go out of their way—sometimes subtle, sometimes not so much—to question whether the critics are actually smart enough to "get it," just because someone didn't like the movie or thought the script was total garbage. Like, sorry if I found the plot to be a complete mess, but don't act like I'm lacking brain cells just because I didn't buy into the hype.

Hold up a second. What’s the big deal that I posted a clip from a respected film critic actually admitting he overshot it when he originally trashed the movie? It's a video from 2012, for crying out loud. If we start policing stuff based on that kind of logic, we might as well just shut down every single thread on this forum right now. 🤷
So, what kind of subtle tactics is the hate crowd actually pulling here? What kind of low-key psychological warfare are we even talking about? Is it some kind of twisted version of the BTJ playbook?
If they didn't have some biased moderator acting like their own personal Zorro bodyguard, the actual facts of history would've devoured them a long time ago.

Look, you all need to get this through your thick skulls: the Prometheus error is eternal. It’s constant. It's going to outlast me, it's going to outlast briskhound2, and honestly? It's going to outlive every single one of you losers too.

That was your very first post after reviving this whole mess...

And honestly, I left it right there just to show everyone exactly how you deal with anyone who doesn't agree with you...

Just pure provocation, picking fights, and trolling at this point...

Regardless of the movie being discussed, I’ll just say this: this Facer is hands down the biggest troll on this entire forum. briskhound2 knows it, and honestly, he knows even better that there's a grudge here. Constructive debate is fine, but what Facer keeps doing is mostly just targeted attacks against briskhound2, and it happens every few weeks like clockwork.

There was that one thread he started where he accused certain users of things, only to be hit with links proving him dead wrong—then he just vanished from his own topic. Now he's back at it, claiming others lack value when I don't see it anywhere, yet he feels free to label and belittle everyone else. Patrick Martin is different. He's a good guy; sure, he can be a bit tedious with the Prometheus error, but at least he doesn't act like Facer.

It’s getting exhausting. Everyone needs to be called out equally, but I don't understand how Facer can't see that his behavior is far worse than the people he's accusing. 🤔

Patrick Martin said:And what exactly are these subtle tactics employed by the opposition?

I presume you’re referring to the "romantic" side of things? Well, here is the most recent example of that particular phenomenon.

The festivities have commenced. said:They simply refuse to acknowledge that we are dealing with a cinematic achievement of truly epic proportions, primarily because they are... That is precisely how they engineered their belief. I am certainly not disputing their convictions regarding the film; after all, they went in expecting a visceral blend of horror and high-octane action, only to be served a heavy helping of religious philosophy instead. It is a predictable psychological pivot—even young children, when denied exactly what they crave, tend to channel that frustration into nothing more than mindless, repetitive outbursts. As far as my own opinion is concerned, you are free to hold whatever views you wish; in my eyes, you remain one of the most profound authorities on science fiction I have ever encountered on this forum. 👍

Personally, I harbor no objection to people dropping links to documentaries from any era or engaging in endless, repetitive debates. However, when one enters a discussion armed with "arguments" that consist solely of armchair diagnoses regarding the mental stability, intelligence, or psychological development of those who simply dislike a film—or perhaps just stubbornly refuse to acknowledge its sheer brilliance—the conversation becomes fundamentally broken. Furthermore, if you choose to completely disregard the actual points presented to you, then you aren't participating in a debate at all; you're merely performing a monologue.

Just a quick technical observation: dropping links into posts from several hours ago doesn't actually prove anything. In fact, if it turns out these "examples" weren't previously flagged to the moderators as rule violations only to be ignored, then this behavior is nothing more than blatant trolling.

Nobody bothered to report him because, honestly, nobody gives a damn anyway.
It was just my way of showing how the "oppressed" crowd on this topic actually talks.
For instance, briskhound2 has probably nuked more of my posts than he's actually left up, and yet here I am, labeled as one of the "haters." Whatever, man, it’s not that deep.

If this pertains to my recent registration, I wasn't targeting any specific individual, nor do I believe my comments warrant a penalty. I was merely illustrating a pattern where film enthusiasts subtly label anyone who dares to disagree with their interpretation—all while simultaneously playing the victim regarding perceived slights or insults.

Friends, this is the Final Review Period. If you believe anyone has been unfairly penalized or overlooked, please provide specific examples so we can examine the asymmetry in our decisions. If you find no such discrepancies, then our business here is concluded.

William Bennett53, I think we might have had a bit of a misunderstanding here
Facer is out here whining that anyone who actually likes Prometheus is being suppressed, and they're even pointing the finger at briskhound2 for it
The rest of us? We aren't trying to start anything, we just want to show that's not really how things work. Nothing more, nothing less

I realize you all seem split into two distinct camps here, but I think there's an expectation for both sides to maintain the same level of decorum. We really don't need another endless, rambling thread about movies—we certainly haven't recovered from the last one that turned into a complete circus. 🙂

Can you people finally wrap your heads around the fact that over on the Prometheus thread, one of the moderators is blatantly playing favorites? They’re basically just siding with the group that keeps hammering on about how the movie is absolute garbage and totally worthless! And this is what passes for "normal discussion" in a section literally titled "Culture and Entertainment"? Anyone of us who actually enjoys a gritty, trashy Sci-Fi Monster Horror flick gets branded as some obsessive little fanboy.
And you honestly want to call this "justice" under the guise of "freedom of speech"? Give me a break. You can't have someone deciding what free speech looks like when they're clearly backing only one side of the argument. That’s not freedom; that’s just cronyism and a massive conflict of interest. What kind of bullshit "free speech" is that?

Is it really not clicking for you yet? What do I have to do—write an 800-page dissertation on the Prometheus error just so you guys will finally get it?

No, there’s absolutely no need to write a dissertation on this; in fact, quite the opposite is true. You simply need to follow the steps I outlined above.
