Greetings to everyone.
My father was involved in a severe car accident just three days ago—and I mean truly devastating. The vehicle is a complete write-off, crumpled from every single angle, yet miraculously, he didn't walk away with even a single scratch! He did sustain a classic whiplash injury, and he’s feeling quite sore from the seatbelt tension, but those aren't actually what are keeping me up at night.
When he was discharged from the ER that same evening, he seemed perfectly himself—completely normal, as always. But now, three days later, he has undergone this profound transformation... his speech is slurred, he struggles to string a coherent sentence together—it’s almost as if he’s forgotten how language works—and he seems so deeply depressed. I realize all of this is incredibly stressful, of course, but I am honestly terrified. He has already been given referrals for a psychiatrist and a neurosurgeon, but is there perhaps something else we should be looking into?
Then, yesterday, he suddenly lost vision in one eye entirely. We had to rush him back to the Emergency Room immediately. It turns out there was no physical damage to the eye itself... his sight returned, but today, his vision in that same eye is still noticeably impaired. On top of that, these yellowish-green dark circles have appeared under his eyes.
I am reaching out for any advice you might be able to offer...
Thank you.

My dad was in a pretty nasty car wreck about three days ago. It’s wild because he didn't even walk away with a scratch, even though his car is basically a crumpled heap of metal now—totaled on all sides. He’s dealing with that classic whiplash and everything hurts from the seatbelt, but honestly, that's not what's really eating at me.
Right after he got cleared at the ER that night, he seemed totally fine, just his usual self. But fast forward three days and he’s a different person... he's struggling to talk, stumbling over his words, almost like he forgot how to put a sentence together. He seems really depressed too. I get that the whole thing is stressful, but I’m genuinely freaking out here. He already has referrals for a psychiatrist and a neurosurgeon, but should we be pushing for anything else?
Then yesterday, he suddenly lost vision in one eye, so we had to rush him back to the emergency room. Turns out there wasn't any physical damage to the eye itself... his sight came back, but today things still look a bit blurry in that eye. On top of that, he's developed these yellowish-green dark circles under his eyes.
Please, if anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it...
Thanks

An emergency CT scan of the cranium.
They need to rule out (or confirm) a specific intracranial hemorrhage.

We really need to rule out—or perhaps confirm—a specific type of intracranial bleeding.

Well, we ended up at the ER, and they ran a CT scan which showed he suffered a mild stroke.
He’s just... drifting away, losing himself completely—and honestly, I’m sitting here wondering what comes next, or if there is even any hope for a recovery at this point. It is truly harrowing.
