I’m saying you need to learn how to read between the lines and actually process what you're reading...

Take a break from this forum and go back to school. Clearly, you could use the help.

They had it right at the start of the season, but then it just vanished.

I mean, really, what else is there to explain?

It’s pretty self-explanatory, really.

In my view, Ferrari actually had the faster car compared to Red Bull; it's just that all that potential somehow vanished into thin air. The pit wall absolutely sabotaged them.

Plus, they struggled during the most critical part of the weekend: qualifying.

Get off the forum during the break and go back to school—it’s pretty obvious you could use it...

Just so I'm not making things up...

Vettel—we actually had a better car than Red Bull...

Sebastian Vettel is convinced that Ferrari actually had the faster car compared to Red Bull during the 2016 season—he honestly thinks they should've walked away with second place in the championship standings...

Ferrari went into the 2016 season with massive expectations—they were genuinely gunning for the title right out of the gate. Things actually looked pretty promising at first, too. They had a win practically in the bag during Australia, but a total strategy blunder cost them the top spot on the podium. Then, they pulled the exact same stunt at the Canadian GP... just handed a victory away thanks to yet another strategic mess-up. As the season dragged on, Ferrari just kept sliding down the standings—instead of fighting Mercedes for the championship, they ended up scrapping with Red Bull just to hold onto second place...

Red Bull managed to wrap up the season with a massive 70-point lead over Ferrari—who, for the second time in three years, failed to snag even a single win. Sebastian Vettel isn't buying the idea that this reflects their true potential, though... he’s putting the blame squarely on the team for missing out on key opportunities early in the season.

The season was a total rollercoaster—definitely wasn't the smooth ride we were all hoping for. Honestly, I think we would’ve been sitting much higher in the standings if we hadn't dropped those crucial points right at the start of the year. By the time we hit the home stretch, we were basically locked in a dogfight with Red Bull... Honestly, I think we actually had the better package... We really should've finished second... we just dropped way too many points—especially right at the start of the season...

It’s honestly such a letdown that we couldn't even put up a fight against Mercedes—it was just out of reach. But hey, look, there's a lot going on behind the scenes right now that should really help strengthen the team up for next year...

Izvor: It looks like the era of dominance for Red Bull might be winding down... after everything they pulled off, you have to wonder if the momentum is finally shifting away from them.

Just sounds like you're struggling with the reading comprehension here...

And what exactly am I missing? Vettel clearly said they had the better package and should've finished 2nd. You want to know why they didn't? Because the Ferrari pit wall messed up—plus, Red Bull just has better drivers.☕

Hey Lujo Lujo, Nico had his own share of bad luck two seasons prior, perhaps slightly less, like that steering wheel issue in Singapore.

Nico drove that season to the absolute limit and earned the title. I mean, what would poor Nigel Mansell even say about 1990? 🙂

That’s just how F1 works; one person hits a wall, and then someone else finds their light.

Dieter Rencken has put together a detailed breakdown regarding the budgets available to the teams during the 2016 season. His analysis, which draws upon official financial statements, various insider insights, and certain logical assumptions, yields the following results (not including any funds allocated to PJ):
Mercedes 265 million pounds (profit: 0)
Ferrari 225 million pounds (profit: 0)
Red Bull 220 million pounds (profit: 5 million)
McLaren 185 million pounds (profit: 0)
Renault 150 million pounds (profit: 0)
Williams 105 million pounds (profit: 5 million)
Toro Rosso 100 million pounds (profit: 0)
Haas 100 million pounds (profit: 0)
Sauber 95 million pounds (profit: 0)
Force India 90 million pounds (profit: 0)
Manor 85 million pounds (profit: 0)

Basically, Force India is getting way more bang for their buck on the grid, while Red Bull is burning through cash like crazy when you look at RB and STR together...

Red Bull is sitting at 320 million pounds total 😲
At this rate, it looks like STR is one hell of an expensive toy...

Red Bull is dropping 320 million pounds total 😲
Which makes it look like STR is just one incredibly expensive toy...

Force India pulled off an absolute miracle last year

If we look strictly at the math—return on investment—Mercedes is actually the winner here. They’ve spent three times what Force India did, yet their results are more than triple whatever Force India is pulling.

Now, if you'll permit me a brief diversion, one should consider the fact that these teams receive supplemental funding from FOM regarding that well-known Super Bowl bonus, and the figures break down as follows:
Mercedes-Benz 56.5 million dollars
Ferrari 80 million dollars
Red Bull 56.6 million dollars
McLaren 25 million dollars
Williams 7.5 million dollars

In his book Total Competition, Brawn GP suggests that during his era, an investment of roughly $100,000 in development was required just to shave a single tenth of a second off a lap time. Of course, we must realize that it isn't quite true that a million-dollar infusion would automatically yield a full second of improvement, though perhaps the gap isn't nearly as wide as one might assume? If one considers only these specific bonuses, it stands to reason that certain teams could potentially outpace Force India by as much as twenty seconds per lap through sheer developmental spending alone. 😬
