To kick things off, I’m going to lay out the general rules for the Marketing Forum, as posted by the highest level of management:

On this forum, we have a few ground rules you need to follow:

Breaking federal laws!
It’s just... honestly, it’s a total violation of everything we consider basic civilized behavior. We're talking about a complete breakdown of the social contract here! It’s one thing to be a little rude, sure, but this? This is crossing a line that most decent Americans wouldn't dream of touching. It really makes you wonder where the standard for decency went, doesn't it? Just completely unacceptable.
3. Harassment or insults based on any grounds whatsoever—be it race, nationality, religion, age, gender, or anything else...

Now, let's talk about the rules! We’ve got to address the basics here: absolutely no profanity, no flamewars, and—this is a big one—no spamming. I'm talking about those repetitive posts where someone just keeps hitting "send" on the same thought over and over again. It gets old fast! Let's keep things civil and fresh, shall we?
5. Copyright Infringement
Listen, we really need to clear the air on this one! Just a friendly heads-up that posting any kind of pornographic or erotic content—including those sneaky, "hidden" shots of nudity—is strictly off-limits here. That goes for all the violent stuff too, and please, don't even think about dropping links to those kinds of sites. We want to keep this space clean and welcoming for everyone, you know? Let's just keep things classy!
7. advertising (the kind that hasn't been given the green light by the Marketing Forum)
8. General Chat (Off-Topic Lounge)
9. The whole business of creating clones!
10. Doxxing and exposing other users' private information
11. being a troll (essentially, that’s when you start dropping snarky, rude, or just plain offensive comments specifically to annoy everyone else in the thread, stir up unnecessary drama, and derail the whole conversation just for the sake of it.)
Alright, let's get this out of the way—this thread is officially off-topic! Moving on!
Harassing other users... honestly, where does it end? It’s just one thing after another lately! I feel like I’m seeing it everywhere on these message boards—people just picking on each other for no reason at all. It’s quite frankly exhausting to witness. One minute you're having a perfectly lovely, civilized discussion about tech or whatever, and the next, someone decides to go on a complete tear against another member. It’s just not done! It reminds me of that time I was stuck in a long line at a Starbucks in Chicago—you know, one of those super busy ones where everyone is just on edge? There was this one guy, absolutely convinced he was the center of the universe, just being incredibly rude to the barista and snapping at anyone who breathed too loudly near him. Total chaos! And that’s exactly what this feels like. People are just lashing out because they can, without any regard for the community spirit we're supposed to be fostering here. We should be lifting each other up, not dragging people down into the mud! It’s just... well, it's disappointing, really. Truly disappointing.
14. SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS!
15. Playing dumb.

rustydrifter10, according to the hierarchy, the next one says:

We strictly prohibit anything that clashes with federal laws, promotes human rights violations, or constitutes any form of direct, blatant, or even generalized insult—basically, if it's inappropriate, it's out. Just like when we’re reviewing posts that someone claims are offensive, we have to look closely at whether an actual violation occurred or if it's just one person's subjective impression. We apply that same level of scrutiny to every other part of the profile to ensure all our guidelines are being followed to the letter!

First off, I really have to hand it to Eugene—that was a masterclass in subtle provocation! His new avatar is such a brilliantly placed little insult. Truly clever stuff! 👍
Absolutely brilliant! Truly spectacular!
It’s sneaky and blunt all at once, yet somehow leaves just enough wiggle room to spin it into some completely different interpretation!
I’m ready to learn everything you have to teach me!

So, I was just looking at his profile picture—you know, that little avatar thing—and honestly, it’s just straight-up chaos. Total mayhem!
Fact.
It’s quite obvious what that cross represents, isn't it? It serves as a profound religious symbol for Christians.
Fact.
That symbol representing a certain religion—and even its entire administration, really—has been quite cleverly modified in a specific way by the moderator who posted it! It’s actually pretty brilliant how they tweaked it.
He went ahead and splashed it in all those rainbow colors—you know, the ones used by the LGBTQ+ movement.

In that way, Eugene desecrated the very symbol of a specific religion—that entire faith! What exactly constitutes a direct, blatant, and general insult? I mean, talk about being indecent! It’s basically being offensive in every single way possible. Honestly, there's just no way around it when someone goes that far.

As far as he's concerned, he's gone and broken both rule number two and rule number three!

As for the Admin, they just don't seem to grasp why taking a Christian cross and turning it into a rainbow-colored design could be seen as offensive or provocative. It feels like a direct violation of Rule 15, which covers general conduct on the forum. I mean, it’s pretty straightforward, right? You follow the rules, you keep things respectful, and that's that! It's all about maintaining the standards we agreed upon when we joined this community.

I truly believe that any kind of tampering or modification of religious symbols should be met with real consequences. I mean, think about it—people attach such a profound sense of reverence, awe, and sacredness to their faith symbols. It’s deeply personal! And honestly, one shouldn't even have to spell out why there's such a fundamental incompatibility between Catholicism and the LGBT movement. It just doesn't align.

You all can keep playing dumb if you want, honestly! You can go on with those tired lines like, "Oh, it’s just a colorful crisis," or start whining about my avatar because it shows something you don't personally care for—as if that image is somehow promoting hate or discrimination, which it isn't! But, just like I’ve pointed out to this group before, acting like you don't understand the situation is strictly against the Marketing Forum rules.

Honestly, that avatar really should be considered controversial if we're talking about the standards of this Marketing Forum! And since it belongs to the Admin himself, I feel like there ought to be some kind of sanction put in place. It just doesn't sit right with me!

I would like to kindly request that the Admin reach out to Anderson and ask him to weigh in on this matter, seeing as the general rules carry his official signature.

Look, I didn't start this whole thread just to ramble on about my own little whims or marvel at things for the sake of it—though, heavens, that can be quite fun sometimes! No, no. I actually have some very specific questions I need to tackle:

Does everyone get equal footing here regarding religion on this forum?
Is it actually legal—and just how far can you go—when it comes to modifying the official symbol of a specific religion?

So, I’ve been sitting here thinking—really dwelling on it, actually—and I think I might finally be ready to change my avatar. It's been such a long time, hasn't it? I was just staring at the screen, wondering if a fresh look might be in order! 😉

Since I’m pretty well acquainted with how things work around here—and let’s be honest, we all know the specific leanings and "ideologies" this forum tends to favor—I have a very good idea of just how slim the chances are that the moderator is going to touch that tiny little avatar.

But look, if we’re still pretending there’s nothing controversial about it, then I’m calling you out, Eugene! Since you used that avatar to send what I assume was your "message of peace and tolerance"—you know, the whole "LGBT folks are also God's children" sentiment... though I suspect it was actually meant to be a jab at people's religious symbols rather than a genuine olive branch—well, why stop there? If you're going to take a religious symbol and splash rainbow colors all over it, why not go ahead and do the exact same thing with an Islamic symbol?
If you aren't just looking to spread love and tolerance within one specific circle, we shouldn't be discriminating! If you're truly such a brave LGBT knight, then come on, expand your field of operations! 😉
Of course, since the Admin says that simply coloring a religious symbol in rainbow hues isn't offensive in any way whatsoever, I’m absolutely certain that Muslims won't take offense either. In fact, I'm sure they'll find a way to thank both you and the rest of the forum staff for the gesture.

If my memory serves me right, the rainbow represents the covenant between humanity and God, and it pops up all over the Bible.

By claiming it’s strictly an LGBT symbol based on your logic, you’re actually being disrespectful to the Christian faith by trying to gatekeep two incredibly significant religious symbols. Honestly, I’d suggest banning you for that exact reason.

It’s kind of like how the swastika is actually an ancient symbol used in India to represent good fortune and prosperity.
So, if I were to sport a rainbow-colored swastika, I'd basically just be signaling my support for happiness within the LGBTQ movement! 👍👍 👍

Come on now, let's not pretend we're all acting clueless here! 😉

I have absolutely no interest in debating my avatar. I’m not changing it, and I’ll leave it up to the Admin to decide what happens next. But I do want to make one point very clear. People love to paint the LGBT community as being at odds with Christianity. That’s just wrong. It insults gay Christians, it insults all homosexual people, and it certainly insults me. Honestly, you're just showing blatant homophobic views! I don't hate Christians, and I have zero intention of offending anyone. My reasons for choosing this avatar are private, and they’re staying that way.

Richard Nelson84 said:I have absolutely no intention of getting into a debate regarding my avatar. I’m not planning on changing it, so I'll leave it up to the Admins to decide what they want to do with it. However, I just want to point out one specific thing. It seems like the LGBT community is being portrayed as if they are inherently enemies of Christianity. By doing that, you aren't just insulting gay Christians or any other homosexual individuals—you’re actually insulting me, too. Frankly, you are displaying deeply personal homophobic (yes, homophobic!) views. I don't hate Christians, nor is it my intention to offend anyone. My reasons for choosing this avatar are private, and they shall remain strictly private.

Eugene, you’ve taken a religious symbol in your avatar and modified it in your own particular way.
Can you really not see how that isn't exactly the most respectful move?

The LGBT community and Christians—just like with any other major religious organization—have never exactly been on speaking terms. That is simply a fact.
It shouldn't matter if their stances are completely diametric. The LGBT community has specific demands... ranging from the legality of same-sex marriage to the issues of parenting and adoption, which the Church, much like the leadership of any other dominant religion, stands firmly against.
Those are facts. We aren't talking about personal opinions here; we are looking at the big picture.

But honestly, all of that is secondary. What truly matters, and what should be the heart of this discussion, is whether religious symbols are allowed to be altered in a way that a single individual deems "appropriate" or "adequate."

I truly don't want to believe that you can't see just how controversial your little creation actually is.

You see, there's a bit of hypocrisy in your post.
You claim that certain viewpoints bother you and feel offensive—which isn't okay—but then in the very next breath, you argue that a specific opinion or creation is your own personal, private stance, implying you couldn't care less if others find it offensive or hurtful.
That's not exactly okay, is it? 👎

As for the Admins, I am simply waiting for answers to the two direct questions I put to them.

Not trying to take sides here, I just wanted to mention how pathetic that icon looks once someone starts coloring it in. Is it meant to be a provocation? Yeah, probably. But does it actually have any impact on you or your faith? Not really. So, I wouldn't sweat it too much; it’s survived all sorts of vandalism for thousands of years without us needing to step in 😉

Matthew Anderson said:I honestly feel like you ought to start by sweeping the porch in front of your own house before you go worrying about anyone else's yard! You really should focus on cleaning up your own doorstep first because...

He actually went and called the whole LGBT crowd "old biddies"!
b) A self-proclaimed homophobe, if I'm being honest about my own words!
So, there’s this one individual out there—you know the type—who goes around labeling the entire LGBTQ+ community as having "incorrect" sexual orientations. Just completely dismissive, right? It's honestly quite something.
d) That one guy who used to call women "chickens" and basically ordered them straight back to the kitchen.
...that one individual who used to refer to the LGBT community as some kind of "special, bulletproof breed."

And let’s not even get started on those endless, rambling conspiracy theories about "special interest lobbies" or some shadowy "forces of darkness" pulling all the strings!

And so it goes! I really think the Admin should definitely take a moment to actually look into why John Newman34 was banned in the first place when responding to this thread. It’s just so obvious—I mean, it’s glaringly apparent to anyone watching—that his whole attitude is fueled by this intense, blatant hostility toward the LGBT community. It's quite something, really!

That indictment under point D is a total fabrication! Even if someone took it out of context, there’s no way it wasn't just a joke. I mean, honestly, come on! It was clearly just some banter that got blown way out of proportion.

Look, I’ve got my own takes on this, which are pretty firm, if you ask me! Completely irrelevant.

Well, when I ended up getting flagged, it was strictly because I broke the rules. Honestly, I stepped out of line!
Just like how Eugene does it right now!

There’s really no need to focus on me here—this isn't actually about my personal business! It is quite fascinating, though, how you immediately recognized the logic behind my argument and decided to pivot straight into a counterattack instead. 🙏
Well, I think you’ve just gone and proven exactly how biased this whole setup is... honestly! It seems like it doesn't even matter if the rules were actually broken or not; all that counts is who gets to be the one to open the thread and report the violation in the first place. It's all about the messenger, isn't it? Just absolutely ridiculous!

Bravo! Way to go! 👍

True impartiality. 🙏

P.S. btw, that post is basically a textbook example of someone just posting low-effort bait just to get a reaction.

I honestly think you should start by cleaning up your own backyard before pointing fingers, because:

a) you called the LGBT community "sissies"
b) you openly declared yourself a homophobe, in your own words
c) you described the LGBT community as having "incorrect" sexual orientations
d) you referred to women as "chickens" and told them to get back in the kitchen
e) you later tried to backtrack by calling the LGBT community a "special bulletproof group"

And don't even get me started on your constant conspiracy theories about the "gay lobby" and "dark forces."

So, yeah, when responding to this, Admin really ought to take points a through e into account. It’s worth looking into why John Newman34 was banned, because his blatant prejudice against the LGBT community is impossible to miss.

John Newman34 said:There’s really no need to make this about me; that wasn't the point of the discussion. It’s funny how you realized my logic actually made sense, so you decided to pivot to a counterattack instead. 🙏
All this does is prove how biased you guys are... basically, it matters more who starts the thread about someone breaking the rules than the fact that the rules were actually broken in the first place.

It’s definitely important to provide some context here—showing that you just can't stand the LGBT crowd changes the whole perspective on your complaints about the avatar. Besides, rustydrifter10 already gave her take on the controversial avatar right here, not via a link:

All I really want from rustydrifter10 is a straight answer to my two questions.☕

Furthermore, I would kindly ask that you pass along my request for the owner of this forum to weigh in on the matter of modifying religious symbols.

And please, stop trying to deflect back onto me; instead, try arguing why I am actually wrong...

As for this business of "context" and "different lights," it honestly just proves that objectivity in moderating an American forum is hitting rock bottom.

Richard Nelson84 said:I have absolutely no intention of debating my avatar. I’m not planning to change it, and I’ll leave it up to the Admin to decide what happens with it. However, I do want to make one point very clear. There is this tendency to present the entire LGBT community as enemies of Christianity. By doing that, you aren't just insulting gay Christians and other homosexual individuals—you're insulting me too. Honestly, it feels like you're projecting personal homophobic views (yes, homophobic!). I don't hate Christians, nor do I intend to offend anyone. My reasons for choosing this avatar are private, and they’ll stay that way.

I don't have an issue with gay people; at the end of the day, we're all just people. My issue is with those who claim to speak for everyone, using the rainbow flag as a catch-all symbol for their specific movements and organizations.

Putting a rainbow on a cross is an aggressive insult. It doesn't surprise me at all that the higher-ups here choose to "look the other way." They see it, but they pretend they don't. Kudos to the rare few who call it out, but generally speaking, it seems like moderators and staff are hand-picked from the radical left wings of these forums. That explains why, during debates, any believer gets labeled a "fanatic." Once someone is branded a "fanatic," their arguments are dismissed and their concerns are ignored because they aren't seen as legitimate participants in the conversation—they're just tolerated as little as possible, right? ☕

To wrap things up, I'll address you directly, Eugene. Not only are you using that avatar, but you're also throwing around the term "homophobic," which I find just as aggressive, insulting, and sneaky.

Why on earth are you claiming debt is some exclusive property of the LGBT community? Honestly, that’s pretty insulting. 🙂

Would you even blink if this extraordinary pediatric treatment program basically crucified debt? Debt is a positive symbol. The cross is a positive symbol. What this organization does is positive. Nobody would argue with that.

Just look at the Apple logo from 1976 to 1998. 🙂 Has anyone told them they need to go back into the closet? 😁

graphicsforchrist.com — taken from http://www.ebibleteacher.com

Go ahead, Google it yourselves.

Since you're all so busy shielding the cross from the very colors that make up sunlight, maybe take a second to think about what the guy actually nailed to it would say about all your aesthetic-moral-religious whining.

restlesscanyon52 said:Why on earth are you claiming that debt is some exclusive trait belonging only to the LGBT community? Honestly, I find that incredibly offensive! 🙂

Would you guys actually be up in arms about this being... I mean, seriously, would you even complain if this turned out to be the case? It’s one of those things that really makes you stop and think! Personally, I find myself constantly weighing these little dilemmas. It reminds me of this time back in Chicago when I was trying to decide between two different coffee shops—one was much more upscale, but the other just had that cozy, lived-in feel, you know? Anyway, I'm genuinely curious! What’s the consensus here? Are we talking a minor grievance or a full-blown outcry? I'd love to hear everyone's take on it! So, I was just sitting here thinking about this whole thing—this idea of out-of-hospital treatment programs for kids. You know, when you step away from that sterile, overwhelming hospital environment and try to find a way to care for them closer to home. It’s such a massive topic, really! It makes me think of those times my own nephew was under the weather, and honestly, being stuck in those white hallways with the constant beeping of machines... it's just exhausting for everyone involved, isn't it? There's something so vital about the approach of treating children through community-based or outpatient programs rather than keeping them tethered to a hospital bed. It’s about more than just medicine; it’s about letting them be kids! They get to stay in their own beds, eat familiar food, and actually see their friends instead of staring at a IV drip all day. It’s a completely different psychological landscape. Of course, it requires an incredible level of coordination between specialized pediatricians and the families, but when it works? It’s absolutely transformative. It’s like moving from a rigid, institutionalized structure to something much more fluid and human-centric. Truly remarkable stuff if we can get the logistics right! Putting a rainbow on a cross? Honestly, I think that’s a brilliant move! A rainbow is such a bright, positive symbol, right? And the cross itself—it's a powerful, uplifting icon. When you look at what this organization actually does, their work is nothing short of inspiring. It's all about positivity. I mean, come on, who could possibly argue against that? No one!

Here we go again! 🤦 I’m going to have to ask that we please refrain from doing that. Honestly, I really think it's best if we just don't go down that road!

It’s just like how I could sit here all day and talk about the swastika being nothing more than a symbol of peace, happiness, and good vibes. I mean, I could even go ahead and paint it in rainbow colors... which would still be a positive symbol, right? And totally unrelated to the LGBT community, obviously!

How many seconds do you think it would take before I get hit with a permanent ban—no appeals, no explanations, just straight to the digital void?

Look, I’m going to ask one more time: please, for the love of all that is holy, stop playing dumb just to look like you know better than everyone else! 🤦

The message and that symbol... well, they're crystal clear! It's nothing short of pure provocation!

mistyseal8 said:Well, let me circle back to you for a second, Eugene. It’s not just that you’re rocking that specific avatar, either—it’s the way you throw around terms like "homophobe." Honestly, using language like that is just aggressive, insulting, and frankly, pretty sneaky.

Personally, I don't have any issues with that terminology at all, so I'm right there with boldwalker12 on this one!

briskbison55 Asks:
Not to take sides here—really, I’m staying neutral—but I just have to say, it’s honestly such a shame to see that icon get ruined if someone goes around coloring it in. It’s just a poor little thing! Was it a deliberate provocation? You bet it was. Does it have any actual impact on you or your faith? Honestly, no. So, please, don't lose any sleep over it! This whole thing has been around for thousands of years, weathering all sorts of shifts and changes long before we showed up, and it’ll keep doing just fine without us stepping in to save the day. 😉

And that’s really the crux of the whole matter! It all boils down to this one point. Once you allow a moderator to engage in deliberate provocation, the entire system just falls apart. It's quite a serious issue, if you ask me!

In my opinion, for Christians specifically, the real insult here is how you're grouping the cross with a swastika. That happens way before any talk of painting a cross in rainbow colors.
Do you honestly think a rainbow-colored swastika would be blamed because of the swastika itself, or because of the rainbow colors?

That logic really doesn't help your case at all.

Do you really think a rainbow-colored swastika would be blamed because of the symbol itself, or because of the rainbow colors?

I am truly, deeply sorry if my point hasn't quite landed with everyone here.
Regrettably, I can't exactly walk you through it myself.

Please, I beg of you, don't go down this path. We all know how this goes—when you try to have an argued, justified, and constructive debate that happens to clash with the Admin's personal convictions (regardless of the actual rules), things usually end up getting locked tight.

So, given that this topic actually has potential for some high-quality discussion, let's just leave it on its shaky footing without anyone trying to twist my comparisons into something they aren't.

Thank you.
