I'm 30 years old and I really want to grow out a decent beard and mustache. I feel like I look better this way—not that I particularly care what anyone else thinks about it.

The issue isn't that my facial hair is patchy or won't grow at all; it's just incredibly slow. To get what people call a "three-day stubble" look, it takes me a full month or even longer.
Is there any actual way to speed up the process so I don't have to wait an entire year just to reach a decent, medium length?

And please, spare me the childish comments about drawing it on or gluing fake hair to my face. We're in a serious section of the forum...

You might want to get your testosterone levels checked.

So, what’s your build actually like... I mean, specifically regarding your chest or legs? You rocking a lot of hair or what?

My beard grows at a snail's pace too—I'm out there shaving at least twice a week just to keep up—but hey, look on the bright side. At least you aren't dealing with hair thinning on your head anytime soon, and your beard won't go gray on you overnight either. Just embrace how you're built... I mean, if you were an actor and needed a full beard for a role, you could always just glue a fake one on or something.
You should really check out that first episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Louise shaves her husband's back 😁 maybe that'll give you some motivation to just be comfortable in your own skin 🙂

There might be some medications out there—like certain male hormones that can trigger more body hair if you take them—but honestly, I wouldn't touch that stuff. You can really wreck your health messing around with that.

To be honest, I’ve just got some hair on my legs and maybe a little bit on my arms. My chest and back? Zero points. But hey, I could be worse 😁

I really want to grow some pec muscles though 🧐

Look, there's a silver lining here because
- you aren't blowing all your cash on shaving creams, gels, and expensive razors—which basically just means more money for a few rounds at the local pub...
- plus, you'll attract certain women who aren't really into the whole hairy thing. Some ladies actually prefer a smooth look on guys. Just look at those pro athletes—you know, the ones jacked up on steroids or spending every waking hour at Gold's Gym trying to get those abs popping. You honestly think they’re born that smooth? No way. They're definitely shaving so every muscle fiber shows up better.

I don't know if this is actually helpful, but I've noticed one weird thing about my own face—the less I bother shaving, the slower the beard seems to grow.
It’s almost like the hair is just lazily reacting to the lack of maintenance. When I let it go, it's like it thinks, "Oh, we're just chilling now? Cool, no need to put in any effort." But the second I pick up a razor and start grooming regularly, it gets all offended and picks up the pace... 😁

Give Minoxidil a shot.

Maybe I should just ask ISIS how they get their beards to look like that...

If only my beard grew at a slower pace. Since I shave twice a day, I end up having to shave twice...

So, I guess there’s just no fix for this?
I’m pretty hairy on my arms and legs, though maybe a bit less on my chest. My hair is actually quite thick, and I shave every single day except for weekends, which results in this—mustaches are full and normal density, facial hair is patchy, and my neck is basically a jungle. 😢 I’d really love to thicken things up on my face a bit, just so I could actually grow a beard once in a while...
