Mods on 'Various' are closing threads whenever they feel like it

The whole point of a dedicated thread like this one is to create a space for the folks who are actually active in the other discussions within this document. It’s meant to be a hub for those regular contributors. Looking around, though, it seems most of you aren't really participating in those other threads—well, with a few rare exceptions, anyway.

Look, I don't care if someone is dropping 500 posts a day; volume isn't the issue here. The real headache is the sheer vulgarity and the blatant disrespect some people show. It’s incredibly frustrating when the moderator ends up wasting their time playing detective, trying to figure out who threw the first stone three hundred comments back just to settle a dispute.

Let's get one thing straight: moderators aren't obligated to hang out in the chat. It’s their prerogative to lock any thread, whether it's temporary or permanent, if they decide things are getting too messy. Chat threads aren't some mandatory requirement for the site staff; they exist at the discretion of the mods. If the moderation team decides a thread has run its course, it'll be gone. Pobosutljanin has total authority to lock any topic—including chats—if he determines the quality isn't up to par for this community, or if users are constantly using the space to provoke or insult one another. Honestly, my best advice to everyone is just to play nice and follow the rules. I'm certainly not going to go begging him to reopen a chat just so you guys can have a place to bicker and fight.
