By the way, where are you heading? To New York City? Just coordinate with the shop—give them a heads-up a day or two before you head out, then just swing by and pick it up once you arrive. It’s essentially the same process, except you really ought to let them know at least a day in advance so they can put the order together. Serious shops with inventory on hand can usually have it ready the same day or by tomorrow; if you're looking at delivery, expect it within two days unless you're hitting a weekend.

Plus, you could always try what Timothy Kim60 suggested above. Just pick out a specific bin, call the store a day or two ahead to have them get everything organized, and then swing by to grab it all at once.
If you're really in a rush, that's your best bet.

That’s beside the point. You might actually be able to build a much better machine in the budget segment for the exact same price. Besides, trying to plan a build right now is a fool's errand because retail inventory shifts constantly... What’s in stock today might be gone tomorrow, or a brand-new model could drop out of nowhere...

Check out the stock at ADM, Micro Center, Best Buy, or Centro.hr. Those places actually carry inventory; relying on an installer isn't a great strategy if you're already going to be in a major city like Chicago.

You'll find ADM over in Jordanovac. As for Centro.hr, it's right on Savannah Avenue—just take a left where Baschiera is located 😁

Where can I find the best deals among those shops?

Prices tend to fluctuate a bit everywhere—you might find a processor a few bucks cheaper over at Centro.hr, while a motherboard might end up costing more there... Honestly, you’re probably better off just grabbing everything from a single shop to keep it simple. Personally, I've always found ADM to be one of the better options; I've never run into any issues with them, and the guys there are genuinely fair and straight shooters..

Now I totally get it. My buddy bought a PC for $1333 (gaming), but there isn't a single gaming bone in it! It barely runs MW3 on medium settings, and Most Wanted 2012 is lagging even on the lowest settings.🙂
