I don't hang out in the Medical subreddits too often, so I'm not sure if this has already been covered here.

Then again, maybe this is just some pseudo-science nonsense and doesn't even belong on this board.

Since my inbox is constantly getting flooded with absolute garbage, I recently caught an email containing a link to some alternative health sites. They’re claiming that sitting on a standard toilet is actually bad for you and that we should be doing our business the "old-fashioned way"—you know, by squatting, like how most of us had to do back when we were serving in the military.

I'll drop the link to those fringe sites here (hopefully I don't get banned for it): http://alternativa-za-vas.com/index....rez-wc-skoljka

I'm also including a link to what looks like a more official study—thank God for Google: http://www.squattypotty.co.uk/downlo...ning-study.pdf

What does the medical community think about this? Anyone have any actual experience with it?

Honestly, you just let it flow—let it run right down your leg—and eventually, it’ll find its own way to where it needs to go. 😉

Someone was claiming over at HBO that the absolute best way to do it is in a squatting position, leaning your head and torso slightly forward. Apparently, that’s how you get the hose positioned perfectly while letting gravity do most of the heavy lifting.

That's exactly why I'm looking for a real medical opinion here. My understanding of medicine is basically non-existent. Is this just some alternative health nonsense, or is there actually some logic behind it?

It makes sense. From a biological standpoint, the human body is designed to function efficiently, and things like shellfish can actually mess with that natural rhythm.
My husband always says he hasn't had a "normal" bathroom experience since his time in the Army. 😁
I tried searching for that Ozark video on their site to get more details, but I couldn't track it down. He explained the whole mechanism behind it so vividly in the video, though. 🙂

Honestly, I think this clip actually does a pretty decent job of breaking things down 🙂

So many ways to just mess things up, honestly... I feel like we finally hit the nail on the head though.☕
